Lefsetz: Say You Want a Revolution?

I ask you once again, do you want a revolution?

You could lose out.

What comes first, your job or what’s right?

But assuming you do want a revolution, what is the trigger?

(A friend) said it would be like Kent State – some trigger-happy person shooting David Hogg and some other anti-gun protesters.

I’m not sure that would do it, horrible, of course, but would there be a national uproar?

I thought it would be when they got rid of abortion.

But it’s nearly impossible to get an abortion in certain states today and there’s been no conflagration, so I don’t think that will be it.

Which begs the question, can anything trigger a revolution in America?

(My friend) talked about the environment, but we’ve had hurricanes and fires, and still there’s been no revolution.

And in the 1960s everybody under 25 was a Democrat, and that’s no longer true. And all males were afraid of getting their ass shot off in Vietnam, but there’s no draft today.

Then again we had leaders.

We’ve got no leaders today.

We’ve got brands, that’s the goal of seemingly all youngsters, to capitalize on their “talent” and fame to make money.

As for saying no, I never hear that word – no one leaves money on the table.

Then I thought of the Arab Spring and how an overeducated fruit vendor reached his limit and was willing to sacrifice.

Is that how it’s gonna happen here?

Then we get back to leaders…

You literally put a target on your back – Abraham, Martin and John were shot. Are you willing to risk death?

And if you raise your head above, believe me you get feedback, hate mail. You become an instant pariah.

I know, I experience it every day.

I’m gonna get it in response to this diatribe.

People don’t want you to speak your truth, especially if it’s not theirs. Everybody wants you to stay in your own lane, but this is not how history works.

Martin Luther King was a preacher, but he became a civil rights leader. And 50 years later despite his lionization, there’s still hatred and states that won’t make his birthday a holiday.

Everybody’s trying to pull you down into the hole they’re in.

That’s a paraphrase of a line in Bob Dylan‘s “It’s Alright Ma (I’m Only Bleeding).”

Dylan got so frustrated – watch “Don’t Look Back” – that he removed himself from the dialogue.

Then again, the leaders of the ’60s revolution were middle class, educated. Whereas today the middle class is shrinking, and everybody’s worried about economics, whether they can eat and have a roof over their head.

You could have a minimum wage job and make it back then, now you can’t.

And there are a lot of issues.

Shouldn’t healthcare be a right?

The newspapers are debating whether outsiders should get into Harvard. Those in the upper class who’ve sent their kids to private schools don’t want this. So is it class warfare or ideological warfare or…

And (my friend) said the revolution won’t come from pop music.

And I agree.

I also don’t know if the revolution can come from music at all. It’s not the 1960s with the advent of the Beatles and the addiction to radio. But even more it’s values – doing what’s right is less important than doing what will fatten your wallet.

And I can’t say that we came to any conclusions.

Turns out we all want change; we’re all up for revolution; but we could not figure out what the hot button issue would be and who would trigger it.

Maybe we’re too far gone.

Have you been reading about that book “How Democracies Die“?

We’re on the road to destruction (when) first and foremost the leader minimizes the media, labels it untrustworthy and demands faith in himself.

Only he knows what’s right.

And no matter what Donald Trump does my inbox fills up with people who say he’s right and I just don’t get it.

They employ expletives, use racial and scatological epithets. They want to shut me down.

But the issue is bigger than Trump.

It’s bigger than immigration.

Or as Rodney King once said, “Can’t we just get along?”

It appears not.

Is change a-comin’? You tell me.

Lefty’s faulty premise is that we “Want a revolution”.

A picture of the corpse of Jeffery Miller lies in the road as we readers connect the coming revolution to the coming words of our esteemed narrator, as, ahhh…, there it is, the sounds of Crosby Stills and Nash fills in the blanks, re-ignites the memories and outrage, our friend, outrage, our constant 21st Century Progressive best friend, OUTRAGE!!!! howls bootless cries to a deaf, evil Christian, Conservative heaven. The transubstantiation of 1960’s evil onto the shoulders of the “others” here in 2018 middle America is complete, even before the first word is written.

    SHAME!!!!

    More like, SHAM!!!!!!

Lefty then goes on , to hope for (My dog can read between these lines.) David Hogg to be shot by some Republican, in order to trigger “The Revolution” and, irony of irony, contributes the idea, of course, to “A friend”. No little irony there. His “friend” probably was in Russia watching whores pee on Trump, but, Lefty is waiting for a second source before he reports that.

Fetashizing revolution is Lefty’s stock in trade. He is disappointed in the lack of violence and radical change that he so obviously believes that would make the world a better place. Just look at how great the “Arab Spring” was before the military got rid of Morsi. Sharia was back in full flower! Stonings, genital mutilation, extemporaneous executions by neighborhood Islamic Commissars, the entire gamut of Fundamentalist fun for the whole family was available, all spoiled because the revolution was curtailed.

“Abraham, Martin and John”? Lefty beats us with the 1960’s cudgel until we are so senseless as to believe that “Freddy and The Dreamers” was a great band. I’m telling you now, that’s not true.

Guys like Lefty, who have never experienced or, understand violence, think the elephant is cool.

From afar, they want their enemies dead, not convinced and they want someone else to do it. Because, in a fuckn alley, or, anywhere in the throes of bloody constraint, they will come up short and as they bleed out, for the “Cause” they will wish for better times. Their “Anti-Fa” heroes embrace violence and hope for revolution because the Progressive narrative fails in the face of facts. Lefty is consumed with Hollywood and the entertainment industry where bare knuckled brawls produce no blood and gunshot victims die with grace. In reality Jeffery Miller, no doubt shit and pissed himself as he bled out, his death rattles probably haunt that poor young lady in the picture to this day.

The violence Lefty seeks, is no joke. Those who have seen violence up close, hate it and hate the results.

If Lefty gets his “Revolution”, maybe, in some way, in some “Mega Millions” lottery ticket chance, he will be the first guy I see, under arms in conflict. God help his fuckin ass.

  2. Jim a.k.a. BWH says:

People are just too lazy for a revolution, Lefty. They would rather throw verbal “bombs” at each other on social media and actually believe they are doing something. I think people are resigned to riding out the next 2 years with Agent Orange in hopes that the political discourse will get back to the usual bullshit. Currently, the toxic political environment is being fueled by the 12 year old in chief and his twitter account. Being caught in a blatant lie used to be something Americans used to care about. When the lies outnumber the honest statements, people begin to just ignore them. If the man-baby hasn’t caused a revolution by now, it ain’t happening anytime soon.

It should be easy for the Democrats to defeat Trump. But they can’t. Because they have NO platform. None. Zero. They are just anti-Trump. And that’s not some sort of world view. Until they self examine and remake their party from the bottom up and get back to their roots (which is true liberalism, not this “progressive” bullshit), they are destined to be losers. You think Trump will be the last demagogue? You’re sadly mistaken. Both parties have abandoned the middle class.

  3. mark smith says:

You missed the revolution while you were busy bemoaning the state of the country. You missed the revolution as you were busy calling those with opposing views, racists, bigots and homophobes. The revolution came in 2016 when a rough neck non politician beat a lifelong powerful political bastion of the democrat party. The revolution was against liberalism/socialism. Its over, you lost. Go smoke some brick weed and listen to that scratchy collection of Dylan albums.
    Happy New Year
    Chuck
    Hearne
and the rest of you filthy animals.

  4. Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

    Just a few things here:

“People don’t want you to speak your truth, especially if it’s not theirs.” — There is no such thing as “your truth” or “my truth”. There is only “the truth”. There is only one set of facts. One of our major issues today is that we allow people to just make up their own reality, and no one holds them accountable and smacks them back into reality. This goes for the President himself, all the way down to the little sobbing snowflake in college who has been coddled all his/her life.

“Shouldn’t healthcare be a right?” The right to pursue the purchase of healthcare/insurance services, yes. Should it just be given to you by Big Daddy Government (aka the taxpayers)? Hell. No.

“We’re on the road to destruction (when) first and foremost the leader minimizes the media, labels it untrustworthy and demands faith in himself.” – Jesus, stop being overly dramatic. All the heat that the mainstream media is getting from the President, and hell, the public in general is well earned on their part. They’re dishonest. They editorialize and pass it off as reporting facts. They are tragically biased, and pretend they aren’t. And I’m not talking about MSNBC or FoxNews. They are what they are. It’s outlets like CNN, NBC, CBS, and even ABC that are the disgraces to journalism. Had the mainstream media held Pres. Obama’s feet to the fire on things like the TPP, getting the U.S. into Syria, totally botching up Libya (where there is now an active market for human slaves), instead of licking his boots because he said nice things and made you feel warm and fuzzy, people wouldn’t be so suspicious.

Do yourself a favor Leftysez, read Tucker Carlson’s book “Ship of Fools”. Then, you just might have a clue what the rest of the United States that doesn’t live in the left wing bubble in California is thinking. And I think you’ll find yourself agreeing with alot more of what he says than you think.
