Hearne: Kevin Kietzman’s Next Job

There’s gotta be a way for Kevin Kietzman to make an honest buck…
Washing dishes at the 810 Zone? Doing play-by-play for the T-Bones? Selling German luxo cars in Topeka?
Something, right…but what?
Former Entercom honcho Bob Zuroweste has an idea.
“He needs to get out of town,” Zuroweste says. “Someplace where they wouldn’t be offended by what he said about the Kansas City Chiefs.
“Maybe he could go to another city where the Chiefs are hated, like Oakland or Denver. He should be looking to make that controversy work in his favor.”
By Zuroweste’s measure, the once highly prized Kietzman’s stock in the Cowtown isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

“The thing that surprised me was the level of anger for him on social media,” Zuroweste says. “But I think this was just the straw that broke the camel’s back. Because over a period of time, Kietzman just created so much controversy that people were angry over the things he said about the Royals, Chiefs and KU.
“And I think he thought he was a teflon – that he was untouchable – that he could get away with anything. But guess what? Money talks.”
As for landing any kind of a media gig here, “Never say never, but I can’t imagine what it would be.”

One Response to Hearne: Kevin Kietzman’s Next Job

  1. Kerouac says:

    “Never say never, but”

    – a preacher to non-believer, Kinison… GIANT to Dodger, Marichal…Chief HOF’r to Raider, Bell… nod unforgivable sins, how much time and internet paper do we have?

Speaking fresh starts and second chances sports talker, comedian and players: how many do confessed/plead guilty, domestic assault and battery by strangulation, get? (no cheetah in this fight, but inquiring minds want to know.)

Big ego, big money, big mouth, big fish an small pond Kansas City… if not dramatic KK’s exit nor renowned as MacArthur’s ‘shall return’, can go home again (and leave once more) triumphant, if no more loved or novel than when departed.

Keitzman may not return a General or radio, if returns at all, but banished have been known return, seeking measure revenge perceived overreaction, led an firing: case in point, December 28, 1974… ‘Merry Christmas’, (former Head) Coach!

So much for teflon and tenure, ego and enmity, still wet 10-year contract and new title VP addition Head Coach. Forward, September 26, 1976… Saints 27 @Chiefs 17 and an ‘Unhappy Next 43 Years to you’ Lamar! Signed, ‘The Mentor’ ~ Hank Stram.

Defiant even exile, Hank (who did not shake hands post game with his heritor Wiggin) rubbed it in by (game already won) going for/scoring a td mere seconds left the clock… Stram admitted post game he ran up the score. That he left Arrowhead that day as did New Orleans a few years earlier Superbowl, carried off his conquering team, affirming the adage ‘the banty rooster who crows last, crows best’.

Two score, plus three more: ‘The Curse of Stram’ endures, intact… now serving ‘wait till next year’ part 2019 verse 50, since January, 1970.
