Hearne: Is Patrick Mahomes Moving to KC for Keeps?

Chez Mahomes, Third Floor

In X-Files speak, the truth is out there somewhere…

Let’s see if I can inch a little closer to it via a tip from a KCC reader claiming that budding Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes was indeed moving to the Cowtown on a more-or-less full time basis, having purchased a $2 million home at 57th and State Line.

Hold it right there…

A check of real estate records shows that last year prior to the season Mahomes purchased a$400,000 and change condo just off the Plaza.

And while it’s a reasonably nice place…other than its somewhat prestigious address and killer views from the third floor, the 1,700 square foot abode, is nothing to write home about.

Pretty underwhelming, in fact.

Definitely not the sort of place a soon-to-be multi, multi millionaire NFL MVP would want to hole up in on a full time basis. July to January crash pad, maybe.

Check it out.

There’s more…

The noon to be future KC home of Patrick Mahomes, complete with a funky-looking urinal???

As for the rumor of Mahomes dropping $2 mill at 57th and State Line, there is an amazing property on which a sale is pending. On a pad that anyone with the Chiefs new wunderkind’s kind of Jack would embrace.

That said, you’ll have to stay tuned until I can confirm (or not) that Mahomes is the buyer of this, spectacular three bedroom, three and one-half bath 3,700 square foot secluded home…complete with not only a swimming pool, but – incredibly – a tacky, wall-mounted urinal in the master bathroom.

That’s right, a white porcelain,  public pee-pee receptacle.

When’s the last time you saw one of these babies in a seven figure-plus house?

Stay tuned…

“incredible, stunning three bedroom, three and one-half bath 3700 square foot home… complete with not only a swimming pool but – incredibly – a urinal in one of the bathrooms.”

    – butt no bidet, award mantel or trophy case? Here in Kansas City, refer them ‘indoor sprinkler system’, ‘Brees way’ and ‘Superbowl echo chamber.’

    😎

What makes for ‘best’: All Stars, Hall of Fame, awards other is an age-old argument. Individual stats vs team results, what constitutes the ‘MVP’ NFL? Remembering the latter award is voted on before post season:

Drew Brees vs Patrick Mahomes (‘Reality vs Over-Hype’)

    STATS

While there are various stats and means to compare (MLB’s new ‘analytic’ infatuation an example of overkill, paralysis by analysis), the most commonly utilized by the NFL gives a pretty clear picture.

    – Brees was the highest ranked QB in the NFL in 2018 with a QBR of 115.7; Mahomes finished at 113.8

    – Brees 74.4% completion led the NFL – highest mark ever recorded in NFL history in fact… Mahomes finished 16th in the NFL among all qualifiers, at 66%

    – Brees had the best td pass to int ratio NFL at 32-5… comparison, Mahomes 50-12

    – Mahomes threw almost 100 more (91) passes than Brees, completing 19 more

    – Mahomes had more passing yards too, but did not lead the NFL in that category; for all the hype local/national, Mahomes was not the NFL’s best ‘long passer’, either: two other QB’s had more 40+ yard completions that did PM.

    – Mahomes led the NFL in td passes – the only stat (impressive) of note he can claim; for perspective two other QB’s already threw 50 td passes or more in regular season.

That 2018 the NFL saw historic offensive numbers put up by many players & teams (passing stats in particular tds, atts, comp, as well comp %), affirms rule changes as part and parcel results benefit QB’s/offensive players in general. The onslaught also renders less impressive such results compared previous years/eras the rules then in effect (upshot: all stats are NOT created equal.)

    RECORD

Brees led the Saints to the NFL’s best record at 13-3 (actually 13-2 in 15 games, as the one game Brees sat out, New Orleans lost). Comparison, Mahomes/team lost 4 times in 16 games, while playing in all of them.

    OTHER

Along the way in 2018 Brees became the NFL’s all-time leader both passing yards and completions (passing a couple ‘Hall of Fame’ guys named Manning and Favre), and in 2019 with just 19 td passes he’ll become the NFL’s all-time leader in that category too, once again displacing Manning.

So who wins the 2018 NFL MVP award? Kerouac knows who his vote would go to… if history is the gauge, the measure may be popularity… if so/as such, Mahomes may prevail. If sentimentality does, Brees may. Brees, who turned 40 yesterday, arguably had the greatest season of his 18 year NFL career. Mahomes, age 23, just finished his second year in the league.

    Food for thought/two QB’s stats 2011:

    Player A – 502 atts, 343 comp, 45 tds/6 ints, 4643 yards, 68.3%, 122.5 QBR
    Player B – 657 atts, 468 comp, 46 tds/14 ints, 5476 yards, 71.2%, 83.0 QBR

‘A’ was Aaron Rodgers, ‘B’ was Drew Brees… Rodgers won the MVP award, while Brees was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year; Brees has ‘never’ won MVP.

    2018 Brees/Mahomes: Co-MVP’s?

    • Shawnster says:

Mahomes: AP MVP & Offensive player of the year. End of story. Done deal. Despite whatever that rambling troll above wrote (I don’t even read him anymore)

      • Kerouac says:

No MVP… wah, wah, wahomes 🙁 (someone tell Shawna – she doesn’t read Kerouac ever… congratulations Drew Brees, 2018 NFL MVP who beat the Rams, but couldn’t manage to overcome the Stevie Wonder taught zebras (unlike our 0-49 since 1970 swiss chiefs the black & white remain undefeated, lifetime.)

Now that the great pretenders have been identified (mahomes, officials, swiss chiefs, Rams), the best that sorry lot known pro football 2018 ‘Patriots vs Rams’ in Superbowl LIII (that’s ’53’ for you folks KC) The Pats ‘vast’ experience, vs Rams youthful ‘luck’ – these ‘best of the worst’ modern fraud known NFL, century 21.

More to follow on the swiss chiefs latest embarrassment from Kerouac KCC, aft HC’s graveside narrative, time and date tbd. Till then… ‘wait till next year’ part 2019, verse 50!

        😎

  3. KC Reader says:

All houses over a certain value should have urinals, I mean why the hell not? It ends the seat up seat down debate once and for all and it saves a ton of water. Seems logical to me

  4. SHK says:

So 2 guys were talking loudly and obnoxiously dropping names at local restaurant and said that Florist Dan Meiners was selling his “gorgeous” house at 57 and state line to Patrick Mahomes.
