Jack Goes Confidential: ‘Deadpool 2’ Exceeds R-Rated Expectations

Let’s cut right to the chase…

DEADPOOL 2 delivers on ALL fronts

And, how many sequels can say that these days?

Wisecracking mercenary Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds’ rapid-fire lines are just as punchy as before and Josh Brolin’s even more so.

So is there a downside?

It could be in the freshness and surprise factor of the satirical material.

I was pleasantly surprised by the original but this time out we all pretty much know what to expect.

That’s definitely NOT meant as a critique.

We’re actually getting more of what we loved in the original. So there.

“You guys are so dark. You sure you’re not from the DC Universe?”

Deadpool is called home to deal with one of the mutants of the X-men that’s run amuck and threatening to take out the entire institution!

Needing assistance, our profane anti-hero recruits a team of quasi-super-powered misfits who are (kinda) up to the challenge.

“Go get’em tiger. Big CGI fight coming up!”

One rather tasteless scene is almost worth the price of admission.

And it brought the house down.

Action and laughs are pretty much non-stop.

And the two hour running time certainly doesn’t overstay its welcome.

“I like to go home. Well, I like for McRibs to be around, year-round.”

Everyone and just about everything gets the fickle finger here.

Not even the Green Lantern is safe.

And one more VERY important note of interest:

Deadpool 2 has probably the best post-credits surprise scene EVER in a Marvel Studios’ movie about half way into the credits.

It had our screening audience cheering.

That’s all I’m sharing here—except to relate that if you’re a Deadpool fan, you’ll love # 2.

And if you are new to the franchise, don’t try to read too much into it.

Just sit back. Laugh. And enjoy.

However, by all means don’t take the kids to see it. It’s R-rated and for good reason.

DEADPOOL 2 grades a: B+
