Glazer: Scribe Peers into Crystal Ball & It Isn’t Pretty

b737fcbc1db4e3f57fd38bcf133e351fAnother college football  week of “Who the #%*$ knows”…

The top teams seem to be coming together, but picking them with points taken away at large numbers is so damn hard. The NFL is more clear.

We have New England, the Packers and Arizona on the top row. Then the Bengals, Carolina, Denver and a couple other decent squads. Now Andrew Luck may join the “I’m hurt” group of quarterbacks. My lord, by season’s end only Alex Smith may be a first string starter.

Unfortunately, that’s the Chiefs only hope.

I think the Chiefs are really bad team now.

They have no energy at all. All week they’ve been quiet in the media after the Green Bay death game. Everyone blames Alex Smith, but its more than just him. No O line and a terrible defense. No pass defense at all. Nobody. Anyone can throw on us all day. Our vaunted pass rush is B.S. Even Justin Houston is not there when we need him. Kinda like former Royals “star” Mike Sweeney. Houston gets good numbers but no important sacks that win games. NONE. Not in Denver or Green Bay.

But yippee! At least we’ll have 10 all pro defenders.

As for our area college teams, Mizzou tries new quarterback today. That’ll help but not enough to save their season because they have no offensive weapons – none. K-State is cute and will make a bowl but not challenge for any title. KU will look for that one win this year. As always, they’re horrid.

2812415Too bad about Mizzou, they were on the verge of being an elite program but this season will set them back a ton.

Oh well, go Royals!

  1. Kerouac says:

“Houston gets good numbers but no important sacks that win games. NONE. Not in Denver or Green Bay.”

    – exactly, CG… the constant ‘over-hype’ local media and moreso fandom the reason Kerouac gets such a kick tweaking the Swiss whenever Chiefs come a cropper, which they do a lot.

‘This guys the greatest’, ‘this guy’s the best rookie in the NFL’, ‘this guy has the best yards per carry average in history’- subjective opine after invention aft lie, probably due the fact they’ve nothing legit to cheer about case the Chiefs, since 1/11/70.

Can’t argue with raw numbers if can ‘style’ points as ’twere, but Houston’s sacks are not game-changers, not sack and strip ala Derrick Thomas turn the tide of an game. Houston’s impact is the defensive equivalent teammates Smith/Maclin vs GB, piling up meaningless stats in the grand scheme of things. In games that Houston had 1 or more qb sacks 2014, the Chiefs record was .500, as many losses – 7 – as wins. So far 2015, Chiefs are again .500 in games he gets sacks. Coincidence? Indictment? Again, as with his sacks, the raw numbers ‘wins’ i.e., impact likewise cannot be argued.

Houston is also another ‘hey, look at me’ everybody ‘I’ndividual, one of the too many Chiefs ‘entertainers’ spends more time showboating aft a play then actually being an game-changer final result, W. That he never misses an opportunity demonstrate his hand-jive (open sesame?) nonsense for the camera/crowd, in stark contrast number of blown opportunities (whiffs) he demonstrates missed chances sack opposing QB’s.

‘Toast’ Peters 2 ints & 3 tds allowed first 3 games (& 2 others he had a chance prevent) is another the ‘best rookie’ & ‘superstar’ creations locally. W’s matter more than ints, as demonstrated with Houston’s sacks, previously.

As for butterfingers aka Charles, he is not 1st in career average per rushing attempt NFL, but that’s what they spout blogs & airwaves. He’s no better than 4th in career yards per carry NFL; still great, not best. He isn’t even the best RB ever in terms of average yards per carry, that honor belonging Marion Motley. ‘Yes, but Charles has more attempts (1297) than Motley (828)’ – correct – just as the ‘best ever’ my opine Jim Brown carried far more times (2359) than Charles. Those red kool-aid drinkers can’t have it both ways, the upshot: when Charles gets into Brown Country (as in he has carried the ball another 1062 times, almost twice as many more times now has), he’ll be up for consideration. Brown’s 5.22 average in 9 years, an 5.3 yards per carry his last season before retiring & 1,544 yards in but 14 games a marked man, speaks volumes.

    both. No excuses.
when do you move on to strippers…your best subject?

oh…glaze…another faceplant for the guy who’s always wrong…
MU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why go against mu…I told you last week lots of losers picked
against them and they look like fools…sorry but you’re included!
new qb looked pretty good out there….so did defense….
when does your act exit stage left for good………there’s no one…no one worse
than you in picking winners in anything!
But my quija board still says there could be something big coming for you…
    but time is running out…………….

    • CG says:

PSST WE WON ONR OF THE TWO PRO BEST AND IF YOU’LL NOTICE PICED THREE OF FOUR GAMES, BUT ONE LOST WHICH CAUSES THE TEAS LOSS. sorry bout that.

      • Bill says:

You didn’t pick three of the four games right, Craig. Just because you get to move the lines with your tease doesn’t mean you “picked” three of four right. You want to get three of four games right and have it count, pick the lines straight up. This “I picked three of four right but because I teased it and missed a game it lost” crap is old.

  7. Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

So was it a 1 for 4 weekend with a complete whiff on the college games?

Maty Mauk should never see the field for Mizzou ever again unless it’s for mop up duty or Drew Lock is hurt. (God forbid)

  8. CG says:

Hey guys you act like I killed your dog. I picked and lost some games. Sorry. I am but its just a fun thing and not life or death ok. You are all welcome to show your picks, which not one of you does, before each week. Lets see how some of you guys do. Be my guest. I’m sorry I was wrong. Ok. If you look at who I picked I think it all made lots of sense. Went down over UCLA not beating ASU and AZ losing at home to ST.Louis. I know those are crazy dumb picks but they seemed to me to be best before the games. I don’t think I am alone in those top picks. However I lost and thats the bottom line. It sucked. I agree.

    • Fake Name Guy says:

“You are all welcome to show your picks, which not one of you does, before each week.”

Only a fool would post predictions about a subject he knows very little and then proclaim himself an expert.

    • heaarley says:

you profess to know e erything. but you’re always wrong!!!!!!!!!
none of us professs to know the scores …we don’t shout out on a blog
how smart we are…how we look…the girls we get…you do ….but from what
      we see you’re failing miserably.
fake name guy is right….you proclaim to tell us about sports…but I can’t
think of one single time you’ve not flipped flopped at least twice in a
single week on anything. Then when you come up short…yes its not
a big deal …but you make a fool of yourself and you shot your mouth off
making people think you know so much about sports.
all you know is what you see on sports center..you know no analysis…
      no insight…no stats…no numbers….just a bunch of b.s.
we give kerowacky trouble too but he has the stats to back up his
reasoning while all you have is b.s.
Its time to exit the sports stage. We don’t have to put up our guesses
each week. You’re wrong 60% of the time….you were not 1-3…..you were
actually based on your phony teases 2-6…which is really really bad.
Stop trying to be someone you’re not….don’t make excuses…..ablind
dog could do better than you have.
as I said….no one will argue when your subject is strippers….first you know
that well…and second ….none of us frequent those holes like you do and
its a subjective opinion and we can’t contradict you since we know nothing
about strippers in case in comparison to you.
so expect to be the object of scorn when you scream I am great and you
      fail.
We’re not anywhere as bad as the comments you receive at tonys and of
course its all fun and entertainment…but when you put your name on that
byline and make a prediction…expect the heat.
stil luv ya glaze…you got guts and a never say die attitude…but sometimes
its best to fade into the sunset.
do what yu do well…tell us about tv/entertsinment/hot chics/new restaurants and things to do (like lucy does)….that’s what you do great at.
Leave the football to the experrts who actually played the game and get
the stats and numbers on a weeky basis and do it professionally.
good luck. I don’t know score predictions for football….not my thing..
      but I know business…the real world…politics…money and that’s what
I focus my comments on. I don’t review comedy. You shouldn’t be
      picking football scores.

  9. Bill says:

Craig, no one acts like you killed our dogs. We are sick of hearing about you being a super gambler who takes Vegas to school, when you’ve been no better than 45 percent correct the last two seasons.

  12. CG says:

Guys nobody said ‘take Vegas to School’ I’ve had some good years and the last season…we didn’t do one large bet due to the season being so rocky, it happens…so far none this year. I pick some games and yes its been tough…but boys it ain’t life or death this is for fun…again if you guys are better be my guest post your picks…nobody ever does. The ones who tried a couple years back didn’t do well so they stopped. It ain’t easy.
As explained by me on each post…its a tough, tough year with college showing no consistent leaders or teams that cover…look at the top 5 teams this week, losses and no covers…it changes with the wind…Pro is a little better cause of New England and Packers being strong, the rest of the league isn’t Denver wins but some are close and don’t cover, same with Atlanta…so its not a great way to pick winners these days. As explained when you look at expert picks on CBS which I do..several of the experts all picked some of the same games I did but also lost…happens… I made it clear by saying”nows not the time to try and make a living betting football, too hard.” The refs and injuries have destroyed picking games along with high salaries for some and not others deserving…its a mess…so picking now is for fun…if you pick several games its likely you will not be at .500

Again be my guest guys make your picks the day I do..just post them and lets see how you all do..don’t tease if you like just pick against the spread…do whatever you like..peace. Harley get help bro.

  13. CG says:

In conclusion. I understand there are people on here who enjoy attacking nearly anything I say or do on this site. They want me to get upset. And fire back…but at some point you have to seperate fun from getting angry over nothing. Picking games is for fun. I said early on this year and last that betting on games in a big way is silly. The odds are so high against the bettor. The game has changed, it was never easy. But with all the impossible things to judge today its a total crapshoot on ‘who wins and by how many’ …. the NFL and now NCAA are just so off balance today. All the rules, the refs bad calls, too many calls, constant major player injuries that make a good team like Dallas a bad team, my God they lost their entire starting line up of weapons, quarterback, running back, wide out..just way too much…now they aren’t good. Before that the Cowboys were a Super Bowl contender for sure. Just a few years ago, this was almost a ‘never happen’ scenario. Sure quarterbacks got hurt, backs key players….but all of them? In week three? No…very rare, Not now.

I said it before I love football, It pains me to see this cause I so look forward to my time off Saturday day and Sundays to watch games and make a few bets…but today its just impossible to do the points thing and pick winners…if you could just pick a winner its a bit easier, but still hard. You need to have much more quality players out there. Most offensive lines are in shambles. NFL caliber lines are almost non exsistent today. The Chiefs are not alone. Look at Seattle last night, their line was worse than KC’s. And Wilson doesn’t have Lynch or really any major weapons save Baldwin. He has his tight end but no time to throw, none. He did an amazing job to move the ball at all, himself and win. A close game against a much worse team.

The terrible Detroit Lions were 10 point dogs at Seattle. They lost by 3, really.Maybe the best way to bet, when you do, is find these large point spreads and take the dog..ala Chicago at KC is a 10 point underdog. That seems high against a bad, but maybe angry KC squad. We have no defesne and Cutler is back so this could be close. Or maybe tease Bears up to 16…seems likely a win by Bears…but who knows.

So for all the hateful comments out there: THIS IS NOT A YEAR TO GO TO VEGAS AND BET BIG..ITS NOT. MAYBE, JUST MAYBE A GAME HERE AND THERE WITH PATS GREENBAY OR ATLANTA OR BENGALS IF THEY CONTINUE TO DOMINATE…but calling other games. No way. Stay with fantasy leagues and so on…or bet really small…for fun…as mentioned I did not do a big Vegas bet last year..it was too hard…this year, much worse…it could happen but latter in the season…I’m again just so sad about the NFL product being sold out, injured out and paid out…game is compromised for sure. Sad.

Harley. As you well know none of that is true. I haven’t been on a date with a gal over 40 yet. 95% of my girlfriends are in their 20’s as everyone including Hearne knows and has seen. There is no 60 year old anybody. I’ve always been decent to you as have many on this site. You are entertaining though clearly a bit crazy. I don’t know who you really are. Hearne at one point thought you were me, just trying to juice up the comments…of course we know that’s not true either. I don’t get mad at you anymore cause you are up one day down the next. Your comments seem to be fun for some to read and piss off others. You can’t be taken seriously cause of your ‘crazy’ responses. On well everything. So I don’t. All this makes you happy so be it. Have at it. We have many haters on the site, all blogs do…I don’t consider you a hater just an oddball.
