Glazer: Life in the Bermuda Triangle of Football

why-we-suckThe Chiefs season ended in Arizona…

And Missouri’s football team didn’t belong in the same city as Alabama’s, but somehow they got there. Kansas State kinda showed up, but Baylor had no trouble beating them.

All three teams – as always – just can’t win the big one.

To be fair Missouri has become a really good program. They went to back to back SEC title games, losing both. K-State on the other hand has never really beaten anyone who mattered at the end of the year, so they’re not really on a par with MU.

K-State is just a nice little team and Mizzou is trying to be a big boy.

Missouri at least seems to have a shot – but K State doesn’t.

Because when coach Bill Snyder leaves, say goodnight.

Which brings us to the Chiefs…

Well, they even had me fooled.

I got a little over-excited when they beat Seattle, New England and San Diego. However in the end, they were playing way over their heads.

The Chiefs were the bad team I thought they were early on just pretending to be decent.

1-3546So no playoffs this year for the Chumps.

In fact, I may well will win my under 8 1/2 bet after all because it looks like 8 wins is best they can do, if they beat Oakland.

The Chiefs slick little game plan is o-v-e-r – Jamaal Charles left and right with a few throws to our tight ends and lovable loser Dwayne Bowe.

None of our wideouts has a touchdown in 16 games.

That tells you everything about quarterback Alex Smith and our entire organization. That hasn’t happened since 1940. Hello!

19948685_SSSunday’s mess revealed who the Chiefs really are.

Yes, there were some bad calls and a huge turn around created by a Chiefs TD called back, then an Alex Smith season ending INT.

That’s who the Chiefrs were, have been and – with our front office  – always will be, folks. As usual, they’re little more than runner ups and middle of the pack nothings.

The Chiefs have been nothings since former coach Marty Schottenheimer.

He had a couple good teams but blew it. We haven’t had ONE GOOD TEAM SINCE NOT ONE. K is right the Chiefs are pathetic and have been for years. Sorry.

Oh yeah, wounded and with no offense, Arizona beat us 17-14.

Pathetic.

Sitting on two Big 12 Championships, many might contend that KSU has accomplished more as a program over the past 20 years than MU has. I can’t say I disagree with them.

  2. hahhararley says:

Thank god mu left the little 12. Texas has done enough damage to the
league especially the co championship bull shit that cost them a place
in the championship tournament of 4.
how long before ku gets out of little 12 and heads to big 10…..
but theres no money for the other big 10 schools so why split the money
    even more…
ku is a dying institution…and this coach they hired is going to be a
mess……..another way down for the chickenhawkss.

    • KU Won't Leave says:

Why would Kansas University leave the Big XII? The school makes no bones about the fact they are a basketball school. Why, then, would they leave the Big XII? And even if they were looking for football money, why go to the Big Ten?

      • hahhararley says:

ku is going broke. In the big 10 they get many advantages
that the big 12 will never get.
        Research funds…development funds…probably more
money since they compete against schools with
more students/more revenue base and more prestige.
        Sorry…k state/texas tech/iowa state aren’t cutting it
when it comes to prestige and abilityto rais3e
        funds.
Its a hardfact. KU is taking it on the income side right
now. Make themove…get into a new league where
there is room to grow to become a major university.
Right now…ku is hanging on…hanging on to self by
using whatever dollars are available to buy him
new dorms/planes etc. while the sizes of classrooms
        explode.
And it would give them a chance to recruit in other
areas of the nation besides hutch and kcmo.
If they don’t …the fact the reality that texas one day
says goodbye when the espn buyout of the longhorn
network happens. When that happens texas says
good bye and with them Oklahoma/ok state and probably
        texas tech.
the big 12 is destined to fail. And Kansas has to look
after themselves or go down the drain.
While basketball is nice…the reall mony revenues and the
        big money comes from football.
I’ve noted the stats on Missouri since thy moved to the
sec and the millions of dollars they go that they never would
have gotten as part of the little 12.
Kansas better make a move…or they will be caught
        in the red……

  3. SKC fan... Well... Last year at least says:

MU got destroyed by the beast team in the East and now the best team in the West.

    Schedules matter.

    • Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

Not if you’re KU. They suck regardless of schedule.

    • hahhararley says:

No right now when cutbacks at all educational institutions are
      being threatened…MONEY MATTERS.
as hard as that is to understand look at Kansas education funds which
will be hit hard to make up for lost revenues under the gov’s experiment.
it will be brutal…I think 700 million dollars..and where does that
      come from?
Yes…mizzou lost to Alabama but they are still taking in huge money
since their move to the sec. And the campus and city are
      exploding! Construction everywhere…new classrooms…and a new
shot at a 1 billion endowment program.
Yes..on field mu has proven itself to be big time. Its been 3 years
but it takes time to catch up to the biggest/fastest/best players
      in college football.
You haven’t seen Alabama in person…they are all pro players…
they are faster//stronger than any players I’ve ever seen including
      the pros.
so ku better understand the future…of course it may be too late.

I am not an English major, and I have plenty of grammar mistakes in my writing. I enjoy reading from KCC’s contributors. I mostly enjoy the professionalism I find on this blog, and the alternative view from that put out by the Star. Its your blog and do as you please, this is just a comment from a non-journalist reader. BUT the site usually does a much better job of proof reading articles before posting them. This was a difficult article to read.

  5. Kerouac says:

Of 46 year interludes – an ode yet another Swiss Chiefs season gone awry, a trusting fandom playing the perpetual part jilted lover, KCindy the ever spurious fraud

Interestingly, from the Championship year 1970, even mentions a Ring; oh, the irony

    🙁

  6. Old Man Kissel says:

I wonder if Herne or Glazer will do this years Sofa Awards?

    810 scoops 610 once again…

  7. CG says:

PS I WON ALL MY PRO BETS, OH LOST COLLEGE, SORRY.

    • hahhararley says:

you’re still under 30% glaze. A blind seeing eye dog could do better.
Better luck next year. this one is already down the drain.
You have had a miserable year. Even my grandma picks better
      than you.
You[re getting your picks from someone else. You know nothing
about the teams you bet on…and that 70% you brag about…
we’ve got it pegged at 40%…which means if you bet the game
s you shout out…you’d be in heavy debt.
Use realmath…play like its a real bet then see why you are so far
underwater with your bookie thatyou’ll never see daylight again.
as for k…he’s still losing. He took every teamthat played the royals..
and every team that played the chiefs…he’s a real loser too!!!!!!!

Make some Nfl pics on the trainwreck pod! Jesus cg you need to put clapping shills is your wednesday night crowd asleep?

I enjoy hearing comics speechless, terrified to say anything. A guilty pleasure.

Stop asking the crowd anything also

  8. Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

The NFL is flat out crazy this year. You can’t predict week to week what most teams are going to do with any certainty. For example…the Raiders go out and get destroyed in St Louis by half a hundred. The very next game they go out and beat the 49ers. WTF???? The Steelers are another example….for a couple weeks Roethlisberger was throwing 6 touchdown passes a game, and Pittsburgh is rolling. The next thing you know, they are taking a giant dump in their pants against the likes of the Jets, Tampa Bay, and the Saints. WTF???? My point being…you’d have to be a moron to bet on the NFL this year.

  9. Dala says:

    Good news, everybody!

Not that long ago Glazer declared the Royals season was over… and they went to the fricken World Series.

  10. Al Harris says:

Hilarious, LOL< as if MU is better than K-State in Football!!. Absurd. KSU with 2 Big 12 Titles and Cats won 13 in a row vs MU from 1993 to 2005. Snyder rarely lost to them.
Not even remotely close, KSU has the far better program and much more relevant Nationally.

    • The Word says:

KSU is a glorified JC All Star Team.

Sure Snyder did a great job there. But he didn’t make it a better one. Remember Ron Prince? Remember when he was hired and people were wondering why the Wildcats couldn’t get anyone better? The reason is simple, no one wanted the job. So KSU had to take their seven pick as the new HFC.

Snyder won by getting three star JC transfers in the skill positions to come while the meat and potato guys are all local. Other HC’s know that people outside of KS and the KC area really don’t want to go to KSU. The word is out that it’s impossible to recruit there.

Rumor has it that Snyder may retire after this season. If he does expect a long coaching search for the new guy. Only to climax with disappointment when the coach is a no name, who cares guy from a 1-AA school.
