Movie industry tracker Deadline reports great news for fans of the critically acclaimed and box office hit SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK. Its director David O. Russell has tapped Jennifer Lawrence to star opposite Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner in a yet untitled new drama.

Untitled?

Sort of. It’s been in pre-production under the rather direct title of AMERICAN BULLSHIT.

The storyline deals with the Abscam scandal of the late 70’s in which the F.B.I. created a front for its agents who posed as associates of an Arab sheik. The sting resulted in a number of indictments and convictions of a senator and several congressmen on charges of bribery and conspiracy.

Was it entrapment?

Many felt it was and should make for a hard hitting drama when the film comes out in 2014.

The Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper association with director David O. Russell of course reunites the threesome—all of whom are nominated for individual Oscars next Sunday night.

In the meantime, busy Ms. Lawrence will be seen (again opposite Cooper) in the depression-era drama SERENA in September followed by THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE this Thanksgiving.

Cooper meanwhile—in addition to SERENA—is co-starring in THE HANGOVER III on Memorial Day Weekend.

The 85th annual edition of the Academy Awards goes down on Sunday, February 24th.

Maybe this “untitled” story is actually the Craig Glazer biopic which everyone is dying to see made.

I wonder whether she will win her Oscar for “Silver Linings Playbook.” Isn’t Sally field the frontrunner now?

She’s got to be the hottest female property in the movies today.
