Glazer: Scribe Overwhelmed by Wave of Statistical Optimism

Maybe I’m destined to owe the Chiefs an apology…

According to NFL statistics the Chiefs are a great team..right now. Yes sir, nobody has a better offense in the AFC.

Don’t believe me?

Well, according to team rankings the Kansas City Chiefs are the number one ranked offense. The Chiefs are number one in rushing with 575 yards thus far and we’re 9th in passing with 750 yards. So overall WE ARE NUMBER ONE IN OFFENSE.

Happy now?
It gets better. We’ve got the 6th best defense in the AFC. This team is on the move fans. And while the Chiefs are  only 10th in stopping the run, we’re number four in pass defense.

So take that Atlanta and Buffalo. Maybe the Saints game wasn’t a fluke after all. Maybe it was the sign of a really a great NFL team coming together.

Jamaal Charles leads the NFL in rushing with 323 yards. Dwayne Bowe is up there with 234 yards pass receiving. On his way to another quality plus 1000 yards and loads of touchdowns. So what are we worried about?

With a team with this early statistical start, can a play off season be just around the corner?

Right.

Crummy Atlanta was only ranked 8th in the NFC overall – 13th in rushing offense and 7th in passing. Man, do they suck.

OK, there is one minor issue, our quarterback.

Matt THE FRANCHISE Cassel is near the bottom by almost every measure. He has an overall quarterback rating of 73.8. He’s ahead of the Cleveland and Miami rookie quarterbacks but that’s about it. He does have 3 touchdowns to go with his 4 interceptions and tons of fumbles.

Yes, it looks like many of us were wrong this team IS on the right track.

Our general manager, Scott Pioli and head coach Romeo Crennel got it right. This Chiefs team is on the move. Be patient. By year’s end Matt will be playing like an All-Pro. The playoffs are but a blink away.

Hey, and the replacement refs may help too.

Now if the Royals can just win a few more…….oh wait, they’re eliminated from the post season. My bad.

“Yom Kippur is one of the holiest Jewish holidays, at the end of which we believe our fate for the next year is “sealed” by G-d. We believe that on Rosh HaShanah, that fate is written by Him, and on Yom Kippur, he issues his final Judgment. This is Judgment Day.

On Yom Kippur, we fast and pray for about 25 hours to ask G-d for a good year. Before the fast, we eat a big, sumptuous meal, which expands the stomach and makes the fast more difficult. During the holiday, there are strict prohibitions: no food, drink, shower, sex, TV/radio, phone, etc. the whole day, which is mostly spent at synagogue. The idea is that you are removing yourself from worldly and material concerns and focusing on deeper, far more important, spiritual ones, the most important of which is repentance for your sins. We also don’t wear leather shoes, as back in the day, those were a luxury of the wealthy, and the holiday is not about ostentatious or material displays, but about humble requests before G-d.

When the holiday ends tomorrow (Wednesday) night, the shofar–a ram’s horn–is sounded.

To my Jewish friends and readers, have an easy fast and a great year. Gmar Chatimah “

Hopefully the QUIEFS beat the Chargers this weekend and we’re in a 3 way tie for 1st place at 2-2… good news is Denver, SD, and Oakland all look weak, especially Oakland. Phyllis Rivers is the ultimate biotch and Peyton Manning is older than sand on the beach. I realize both QB’s are MUCH better than our piece of crap, but we have better overall weapons and hey, the #1 ranked offense LOL!

That is what I was saying earlier before the season. The Chiefs are not that good, but the rest of the division has big question marks also. Someone will win it, but will get knocked out of the playoffs early.
