Hearne: Tyreek, Innocent Until Proven Guilty?

So many questions, so few answers…

The “exoneration” of Kansas City Chiefs scumbag Tyreek Hill raises more questions than it answers.

For starters…

Does anyone really believe Hill’s an even halfway standup guy, apart from his on-field athletic performances?

Of course not, how could they?

Then again, did Hill deserve to take what could have been a football career-ending hit sans indisputable proof that he abused his young son?

Perhaps not.

Then again, letting Hill off scot free, given the circumstantial evidence, his track record of abuse and over-the-top crude threats he unleashed on his now-former girlfriend  doesn’t exactly seem just either.

So local Chiefs fans and sportswriters are left with little, other than lame tap dances and feeble excuses.

Case in point.

“Those of us who believe this is far more complicated are left hoping for health and happiness for the children involved and a lot of mixed feelings,” whines Kansas City Star sports apologist Sam Mellinger, who doubtlessly down the road will be breathlessly recounting the Chiefs exploits this coming season.

“It means that in a certain sense the Chiefs are back to square one when it comes to Hill,” adds Star sports co-apologist Vahe Gregorian.

Enter former Entercom heavyweight Bob Zuroweste

“I’m just a Chiefs fan like everyone else,” Zuroweste stipulates.

That said, Zuroweste isn’t above unleashing a bit of an, “I told you so,” in the wake on Hill’s getting a pass from the NFL and the Chiefs.

Nor is he shy about giving me a hard time for agreeing with the more-often-than-not out-of-it Kansas City Star editorial board in concluding that the sum of Hill’s actions and behavior warranted a far graver punishment and him being expelled from the Chiefs.

“The Kansas City Star editorial board has opinions, just like everybody else,” Zuroweste says. “And years ago, those opinions used to matter because they had more readers and it carried more weight.”

No mas, Zuroweste says.

The one wildcard: Will the Chiefs faithful at Arrowhead rain boo birds down upon Hill when he takes the field later this summer?

Maybe.

“However you won’t be able to hear them over the cheers,” Zuroweste says.

  1. Kerouac says:

Aft the NFL’s deci$ion swiss chiefs player whose jersey numeral most closely matches his (lower case) iq, is enough to make Saint Peter skeptic, Vincent Peale Mencken and lifelong football / baseball fan shuffleboard man.

Tragic, on so many levels; id est, this pyrite extracted a larger chunk pablum: “I will continue to strive to be the best father, the best friend, the best role model, and best mentor that I can be”. Unsure who spritzed that ‘disinfectant’ if certain who did not, allow ‘Macbeth’… ‘a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.’
