All i can say is, WOW!
Perhaps the greatest regular season win of modern times for the Kansas City Chiefs. Yes, with their backs to the wall facing one of the hottest teams in the NFL, Kansas City showed heart, guts, brains and got the monster win, upsetting the Chargers 30-13 in front of a sold out Arrowhead to more than likely win their division.
As one of the many down on our Chiefs for weeks – and rightfully so given their losing 6 of 7 after a 5 and 0 start and playing near the bottom on so many areas – they showed they ain’t done yet.
Not by a long shot.
Every key player and the entire team played out of their minds to bring home the title and make the playoffs. I have to salute Andy Reid, the coaching staff, Alex Smith, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Marcus Peters and especially Kareem Hunt….HE’S BACK!
And how about that offensive line play…outstanding.
With the line blocking for Hunt he had his best day of the season, running for well over 100 yards and pass receiving like an all pro. Hunt looked like the running back we met in New England in game one.
Hunt was the key to the Chiefs offense holding onto the ball, moving it when needed, picking up that huge 4th down play near the end of game. The death blow was the touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Tyreek Hill with his speed and now proven great talent as a super star wide out got yet another touchdown bomb catch to get KC out in front early. Even Eric Fisher came to play! Hey, where did that Kansas City defense come from?
Marcus Peters silenced his critics with two important interceptions and a strip fumble play. He was targeted six times and gave up zero catches. Truly an all pro when had to be, especially after the last few weeks of his antics with so many down on him. He’s back as well.
Alex Smith outdueled Phillip Rivers, who had 3 interceptions and was sacked twice.
Yep, it was just a near perfect performance by the Kansas City Chiefs now 8-6.
The Chiefs do need these next two wins over Miami and Denver to perhaps overtake the Jag’s and move up to the No. 3 spot in the AFC playoff picture. Kansas City will play a home game in round one, then travel to either Pittsburgh or New England. And if they play as they did yesterday they’ll have a shot.
Nobody will be picking Kansas City to win the AFC.
But hey, maybe the way this team has gone suits them best.
It’s as impressive a win on a comeback season as I have ever seen against a Chargers team that looked like a dangerous playoff contender.
Thank you Chiefs for proving me wrong.
You saved your season and ours. Thank you.
Your pal, Craig Glazer…still shaking my header the 2017 Chiefs.
