Glazer: Keep Calm & Watch Out for Cam!

imagesThey were the oldest starting quarterbacks in an AFC Championship game ever…

But in the end, it was two great defenses that settled the outcome. Denver’s defense was just off the chain. With four sacks on Tom Brady and two interceptions. New England’s defense was just as good  – minus the interception – but it did get the one fumble that led to a score.

Peyton Manning was sacked three times. Neither quarterback was throwing all that well with all the pressure, but Manning surprised everyone by showing good velocity on his medium throws and not getting picked off.

The game came down to a missed extra point by the Pats from a kicker who only missed one in his entire career. Unreal.

In the end Brady did his usual drive to try and tie the game and send it into overtime. With just seconds left on the clock, he hit Gronk for what would have tied the game, but for the missed extra point earlier. Thus the Pats had to go for two and failed. End of game.

It was a great game. Denver and Manning went to their 8th Super Bowl tying New England, Dallas, Steelers and San Francisco.

In some ways the likely final meeting of Brady/Manning paled in comparison to Cam Newton and his Carolina Panthers.big win.

Cam looked like SUPERMAN.

He seems unstoppable, running for two touchdowns and throwing for two while his defense got seven turnovers. Wow.

unbreakableThe result was a 49-19 destruction of Arizona and Carson Palmer.

To say they will be favored over Denver is an understatement.

With this past generation’s NFL quarterback stars nearing the end of their fantastic careers – Brady, Manning, Drew and even Big Ben and Aaron Rodgers are not young guns anymore – look for the new top dog to be Cam Newton. His Panthers are already 5 1/2 point favorites to win Super Bowl 50!

And I think that number may well reach 7 by game time. Without a spectacular effort by the Denver defense, I give the Broncos little chance of upsetting the Panthers. If Manning and company does it will surely be one of the Super Bowl’s all time upsets. I just don’t see Denver even keeping it close.

In fact as highly as I regard of Tom Brady, I don’t think his Patriots could beat Cam either.

It’s a new dawn in the NFL.

Some young quarterbacks will emerge to start this new era led by Cam in the NFC.  Maybe Andrew Luck will finally get it together in the AFC. Otherwise Brady, Big Ben – and who knows if Manning comes back – will have at least one more season with an AFC title in front of them. Look for the Panthers to be the new, dominant team,  because Cam is clearly the real deal.

Again, I did think Brady would get it done and go to a 7th Super Bowl. He didn’t.

However I did go perfect in picking all the playoff game wins in what were mostly teaser bets and 100% is 100%.

And I can tell you now, BET EARLY ON PANTHERS BEFORE THE NUMBER GOES UP. Hah.

I’m always sad to see the NFL season and football come to an end.

I do think the Chiefs will be in the mix next season.

They need to improve in several areas but have some good players to help. But they need a couple more. In the end, the two No. 1’s ended up in the Super Bowl. That’s rare. Both have No. 1 picks in the draft as quarterbacks.

And let’s give Manning credit.

A few weeks ago most observers thought he would never play again. Now he’s going to the Super Bowl, likely to end it all there. Pretty great.

  1. another faceplant for glaze.
He’s missed more facts in his articles than…
As a former MU j school student having you guys masquerade as journalists
makes the fox news teams look like geniuses…NOT~!

    • admin says:

      Craig’s hardly masquerading as a journalist…

He’s laying down opinions, which you seem to have a hard time differentiating from news reporting.

      Just sayin’

The only “J” School you went to, was “Jay’s Trucking”.

Hey Nostradamus, the wheels are coming off of Hillary’s campaign faster than the scrunchie on your man bun when you pull on the “Black Lives Matter” T Shirt you got working security for Melissa Click.

The only vote she cares about at this point, is the one James Comey casts. I would suggest a new theme song for her campaign, the one you said about 1,000 times was a SURE THING. “Folsom Prison”.

      I hear the Harley talkin,
      talkin to no end,
and I think I’ll send an email,
      to my best friend,

      Huma’s gonna save me,
      shes gonna take the fall.
I think I wiped my server,
      And now it’s Comey’s call.

When I was just a Senator,
I stood so proud and tall,
But trouble seemed to follow me,
took my eyes off of the ball,

I shot my foot in Yahoo,
      Huma’s such a doll,
Now I’m stuck behind the Bern,
      And it’s Comey’s call.

Hey Harley, you can’t bet a tease on this one.

Hearne Harley bitches about everything. He has no real opinion til after the games and its always bad. Just his thing. I think and know we’ve proved pretty on it with both NFL and Royals…things change and we change with them. I’m not a ‘homer’ Harley is and sticks to his two or three teams he loves no matter what. That’s ok, but you can’t talk about whats going to happen that way.

    • don’t you have contracts with your comics glaze. Meadows cancels
3 days before his show. Best comic you’ve had in a long time.
too bad…was going to stop by after party to see him and try
      your ribs.
bring in some big names….joco will buy tickets…I just don’t think
enough people know about your place. If joco will pay $20 a meal
at some of these cheesy restaurants out south they surely would
pay a little more for some good comedy.
sorry about meadows….but why no contracts involved? His replacement
is not known and will hurt your crowd.
      good luck in future.

  3. Kerouac says:

    “Cam looked like SUPERMAN”

    – cam ‘the sham’ will be playing the NFL’s best defense in Denver: best vs the run in the NFL and 2 yards shy per game of being best vs the run too… in the parlance, be a matter Superman meeting his kryptonite, on its face.

While carolina has a bit better running game than NE, their receivers do not measure up with NE’s as a unit, nothing to strike fear into the DEN CB’s who held their own & then some vs NE, despite the Broncos losing both of their starting S’s in the game.

newton is a threat similar to the swiss alice smith: while his passing is more impactful, he’s also more susceptible to the interception: a higher int % than alice, and for all the complaints re: smith’s ‘Captain Checkdown’ persona, newton’s own average yard per pass was only 4/10 of a yard better (7.8 to 7.4) for the season. DEN’s pass rush finds its usual mark, it could be a long day for carolina’s ‘dabbing fool’ (newton’s only plus is his ability to scramble, which Wade Phillips will no doubt have a plan for.)

Will newton’s/carolina’s limitations be less than the Broncos same, including a 40-year old cripple in Manning, a suspect offensive line his/protection & a running game which is most often underwhelming? For all DEN’s supposed problems offense, on the season carolina had but 182 yards more than DEN over 16 games.

Kerouac has an inkling DEN’s WR’s may put up some surprising numbers vs carolina’s defense, despite the creaky-wing of Manning. While carolina ranked 6th in the NFL in defense, NFL leader DEN also led the NFL in sacks, while carolina finished 6th. Special teams, carolina finished last NFL in return yards gained; rest special teams match ups a wash the two teams.

We shall see… fact is, the same problemsas described were what was supposed to have lead to an ‘easy’ (according many) NE win over DEN… in actual practice, DEN’s cripple whupped ‘the best ever’ (snicker) brady-cheat (who btw, for all intents and purposes, threw 3 ints, the last one ending the game on the two-point try.)

Breaks and momentum capitalized upon will determine this Superbowl’s outcome, per the usual tack. Kerouac would point to Denver’s experience factor giving them a slight edge, having played in the Superbowl a couple years ago. Hindsight, Superbowl 1 way back in 1967, GB’s experience was the real difference in that game, because the Chiefs actually had the horses & then some to have defeated the Packers otherwise that day.

    BRONCOS 23
    carolina 20

    🙂

    • CG says:

Wow K. You are going out on a limb here. If Denver wins I call it biggest upset in maybe a couple Super Bowl decades! Hey it could happen. I don’t think so..I got it Panthers 31-17.

      • OMG>>>>> biggest upset in decades.
Obviously glaze doesn’t know anything. 5 point bet.
        Are you serious?
Please stop. That statement is not only wrong but
continuesto show that you know nothing about
        sports.
Opinions are like assholes. I have one…you have one…
but only you continue to be a fraud and prove time
after time how little you know.

  4. Kerouac says:

Correction: “NFL’s best defense in Denver: best vs the run in the NFL and 2 yards shy per game of being best vs the run too…’

    – should read “and 2 yards shy per game of being best vs the pass too”…

    🙂

Darla Jaye, New Boss, could Parks and Wright be far behind. I hope so.
