Hooray!

Kansas City is a world class sports town. The world looks at the pictures of us in awe. It was amazing to see that many people wearing a blue shirt that says “Kansas City.”

And we’re still an amazingly good music town. Our musicians are constantly been noticed by millions around the world. They are just harder to pick out because they don’t wear a blue shirt that reads Kansas City.

When Jason Pritchett made it to the finals of America’s Got Talent two seasons back, not very many people in Kansas City knew him. It was like we discovered his talent at the same moment the rest of the country became aware.

The “Independence Cowboy” spent a year or so after the show traveling the country playing music. That’s what they call living the dream.

Pritchett doesn’t travel so much now because he has a show at the Starlight Theater in Branson. That’s living the little better, easier dream.

His song, “Good Show” was in the Top 20 on the Billboard charts. That earned him a spot in last Wednesday’s Country Music Awards Show.

It is always good to see a Kansas City guy doing well. The CMAs is a real step up from the Truman High School choir shows he was doing not so many years ago.

Good show, old man.

I really thought, when the Soji, Box Car Willy and Baldnobber set died out, we just may see those great theaters turned over to Eagles, Led Zep, etc. and a new age group would replace the old.
What a money machine that could be. No need for 10 tractor trailers and 5 tour busses plus expenses, then after the show you go back to your condo or house on the lake that’s comparably pennies… Seems like a real nice life since there’s a jet worthy airport minutes from your door for trips “home.” But alas, no signs of that.
