Glazer: We Are The Champions, My Friends

110115-MLB-Champions-MM-PI.vadapt.620.high.70There are so many things that can be said about our Kansas City Royals

However, let’s just say the most important one: KANSAS CITY ROYALS WORLD CHAMPIONS.

No city deserved it more. Kansas City has been starving for a world title for far too long – 30 years. The suffering; the heartbreak; the almosts. Now it just feels great. We’re a city that is so proud. A city that has one thing in common, a belief in itself and its love for our teams.

We believe in many ways that they are US.

Yes, I broke it all down before it happened.

imagesThe Royals were a much better team than the New York Mets. The Royals belonged in the World Series – the Mets got hot and got there. The Mets defense was horrid, six errors – really more with misplayed balls – a poor hitting line up that really had to have home runs to score, questionable relief pitching and too many bad decisions to discuss now.

The Royals came back – what? – seven times in the post season. Best defense in baseball, best bullpen, best hitting line up, BEST TEAM.

Many thought, as I did, that Eric Hosmer would be named MVP.

However it was nice to give it to Sal Perez, the heart of this team for sure.

Eric is the star, the man with a plan, a future superstar in tv commercials and a few hundred million dollars waiting for him in just one more year. So many stars, so many guys with big games.

The biggest hit in my opinion was the Alex Gordon ninth inning home run to dead center in KC. It lead to the win that lead to a big lead in the series and making it nearly impossible to lose.

I think even the haters on this site are all happy for Kansas City.

Let’s just enjoy the feeling and how proud WE ALL ARE TO BE WORLD CHAMPS.

What a ride, CG!!! So happy for the players like Gordo and Hochevar that have played on god awful teams and have now been rewarded with a world championship. Other guys like Rios, Young and Zobrist that have been around for a long time and finally got a ring. And Orlando? A decade in the minors and now a world champion. Simply incredible.

Congrats to all of the Royals and the long-suffering fans of this GREAT city! What a feeling!!

BTW-it was 8 comeback wins. But, who’s counting?!

  2. chuck says:

Your prescience and perspicacity is duly noted.

I hope you won a swimming pool full of hundred dollar bills.

    🙂

    • CG says:

Chuck sadly I am not a big baseball betting guy…no matter it was fun to watch. Hey Chuck want to thank you for being a good person. Your comments usually hit home, you are rarely meanspirited and like me don’t attack unless someone goes after you. I wish people were not so mean, but life’s not fair and people are upset thus the hate. I get it. I’m sure most of those guys are happy today as well. Thanks Chuck for being a cool dude. Oh and a real person…his name is Chuck.

  3. CG says:

I’m glad Hearne got this up early. I know many of you have comments. It’s a once in a lifetime moment for KC. Two times in a row being involved in the world series. Then winning the second one in just five games. The Royals by seasons end were clearly the best team in baseball. Their ‘modern’ style of pressure play, putting the ball in play almost in every at bat, focus on defense, speed, athletic ability, relief pitching that never ends, a team of true ‘friends’ and love for each other. The list goes on. Nobody will ever say that this was BASEBALL’S ALL TIME BEST TEAM…we know that, but it sure was one that made a statement. Hey get mad at me now, the Royals win the division next year too. Who know maybe world series number 3…they will be in this thing again.

I’m also glad for our local media. Guys like Bob Fescoe and 610’s young stars that got to be there and were on tv with the champs…810 was also all over this thing and older guys like Soren and KK got to be rewarded for years of following a young team that was always struggling til now. Many of our TV sports and news crews got to take part as well. It was a payoff for so many KC folks.

Mostly it was nice to see a bunch of guys who never get in trouble, who are not showoffs, who believe in each other and really do care about each other. God I hate to see some of these guys leave in the next couple years. I think it will be a tough call for guys like Hosmer, Moose, Gordon, Zobrist and others to leave for more money. I think if the money is close a couple might just stay. I know Glass won’t go for a 200 million dollar a year salary hit, but we all wish he would. Give the Glass family credit, we all were down on them, Ned Yost, Dayton Moore and in the end they all came through.

I think Clark Hunt tried to do the same with his giving the team over to Reid, Dorsey and Alex Smith, it just didn’t work out. He did try. Not lucky. Glass was lucky.

There will a million stories, a million opinions, a million smiles this week. Then like summer as Brett says, just when you need it most, it fades away. We all go back to the bills, the problems, the day to day grind, but man for a few weeks and nights all those things were tucked away somewhere else and we will always have this great memory.

I am glad I got to be a very small voice in this on KCC. Very small. But it was nice to have a voice and give an opinion here and there. Opinions are just that, some right some wrong. We all have one. Enjoy the parade.

      http://www.greghallkc.com/index.php/otc-royals-boycott-sports-radio-810-while-still-getting-their-spoiled-butts-kicked-by-the-al-central/

Granted, this was in May of 2014 a month or two before the Royals turned things completely around, but this is how our local media, especially 810, really feels about the players. They might pretend to like them today, especially if they can get into an event that has a free food, but if any of these players so much as breathes wrong, the media will thrash them

      • Alphonse Tooty says:

Haha. I’d almost forgotten about that idiot Greg Hall. He was calling for Yost to be fired as recently as last September. Pulled the plug on his web site blaming the comments section and slithered into the night. Coward.

        • Frank says:

“I don’t have a plan. It’s day to day. These are all big boys. … Read into that what you will.”

Ned Yost, when asked prior to Tuesday’s game about his decision to play Danny Valencia at third and sit Moustakas, 810 AM

GH: Ned just provided every sports talk radio show in Kansas City one of their favorite drops for the rest of his tenure here in KC and well beyond. We will be hearing Ned say, “I don’t have a plan…” even longer than we hear Dan Glass tell us Buddy Bell is, “obsessed with losin’” BYW, where are the “big boys” in Ned’s clubhouse? Are they the same brats who are still smarting over not getting into a sold-out bar?

    • Frank says:

Soren and KK got rewarded for their dislike, bordering on hatred, of these current royals players. You, or your moderators, know that.

  4. The Word says:

Great win for the Royals, Kansas City and small market baseball.

That victory made me think of the early 2000’s when I used to listen to Ron Barr and Sports Byline USA. They always bashed the Royals almost to the point that Barr and many of their hosts thought the team should fold. I wonder what they thought about this team now.

And I guess I’ll be that guy and ask. Is this team the Giants, or is it the Marlins? Three years from now will these guys still be here like the Giants? or will it be a fire sale like the Marlins?

  5. HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

Was on a patio in power and light watching this game.
Game of the last 10 years for our royals!
But remember…Harley has been the only true fan for all our home
    teams.
As Paul Rudd said in his on field interview last night…Kansas city is
just crazier than any other town in the nation about its sports!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But while Kerowacky and Glaze bashed this team…with K’s stats and glazes
“know nothing” b.s. articles that bashed this team when it got down…only
one commentator…when the chips were down…when theteam went thru
    tough stretches starting 4 years ago(especially april/may/june of 2014) when k
and glaze continuously attacked the team and its owner and its manager and
players)….in the playoffs in 2014 when k and glaze again trounced on the
team only one commentator had faith in this team.
When the ups and downs of 2015 hit glaze and k bashed this team again and
again…..glaze making some of the stupidest comments about this team when
only one commentator knew and told him to say ITS OVER….ITS OVER AND
WE MADE IT TO 90 FEET OF TYING THE SERIES IN 2014…AND IT WORKED.
When yost and moore in 2014 started out slow then came on and when the
team was down….no writer for the star/national pubs/the so called experts
and the national media gave them a chance….only one commentator braved the
fact that this team was not only a great team but as joe buck said “one of the
    best he’s covered!”
These so called experts have shown they don’t know shit…and when the
tough time hit…they flip flop/mis analyze and even make stupid comments.
Glaze was the worst!!!!!!!!!! Probably never went to a ball game but sat
there beating down on these players and their coaches.
YES…THERE WAS ONLY ONE COMMENTATOR HERE AND ELSEWHERE
WHO KNEW THE FACTS AND ANALYZED THE TEAM AND KNEW SOMETHING
    SPECIAL .
K…YOU ARE BUSH LEAGUE. THROW ALL YOUR STATS OUT THE WINDOW.
GLAZE: YOU’RE A FAIR WEATHER FAN….AND WHEN YOU BASHED THE
TEAM I CAME BACK EVERYTIME AND SET YOU STRAIGHT.
This was a great victory for a bunch of hard working/never say die players. This
    was this year.
I went to over 45 games at the k….you could sense this was something different
    in this team.
Having had relatives who were lancers over the years…this team had something
    different……the will to come back.
SO SORRY K AND GLAZE….YOU’RE WRONG AGAIN AND AGAIN…

and tHE KING OF SPORTS IS AGAIN THE MAGNIFICENT HARLEY.

Last year when glaze dumped on the royals I said keep saying “ITS OVER…
ITS OVER….ITS OVER…ITS OVER….AND YOU FINALLY CAUGHT ON TO
    WHAT HARLEY KNEW.

Never give up….never ever give up…….because again…..HARLEY GOT IT
RIGHT IN THE END….AND WHILE YOU BAMBOOZLED US WITH YOUR
B.S. AND STATS AND NUMBERS AND SAYING THESE ARE NOT GOOD
    TEAMS….
THEY ARE OUR TEAM. THEIR HELMETS AND SHIRTS SAY KANSAS CITY
ON THEM…THE GREATEST CITY IN AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND NO COMEDY DUDE OR OLD GUY WISHING FOR THE OLD DAYS
    WILL CHANGE MY THINKING!!!!!!!
THIS IS A FUN AND GREAT DAY. THE WAIT MAY HAVE BEEN LONG
    BUT WORTH IT!

and again….Harley had it right….as always Harley had it right….and my email
box was packed at law4life1000@yahoo.com with people saying that in the
    end ….Harley knows the truth.

    TAKE CARE
KANSAS CITY ROYALS MLB CHAMPS 2015
See ya all at the parade and rally.

if glaze and k want to miss it that’s okay….the real believers and fans
will be out there in force.
Too much negativity from those 2 guys…

    HARLEY REIGNS SUPREME! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    • IT Nerds In your Surewest Network says:

Its embarrassing for your to brag about a stuffed email box in front of people who know exactly how many emails come and go from your box. You forget, some know the truth, more will soon, all will later. Harley lies. Its just what he does. For the sake of a joke or pathological behavior, he lies. Period.

      • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

bring some money and we’ll see. Again…sorry but the
fact remains that Harley was right again about the royals.
        Prove me wrong.
Put your money where your money isl
Its all online on kcc and you can go thru the many
articles glaze and k wrote and see that Harley showed them
        to be wrong.
and when they win the world series…Harley gets emails/comments from many facebook and email friends
        proving again and again…………….

HARLEY WAS RIGHT ABOUT THE ROYALS.
show me my own comments that prove me wrong…you
        can’t…Harley is magnificent!

  6. Kerouac says:

Congratulations to ‘THE’ ‘WORLD CHAMPION’… The best team in baseball 2015? Was none. The NY Mets, who gave away 3 games in this year’s WS while winning 1 (same as the equally mediocre 1 win opponent theirs the KC Royals), concluded the poorest fall classic in memory. After careful consideration, a special dispensation was announced by MLB: it has declared the title vacant this season, as neither team present stepped up to win the required 4 games. In lieu, MLB announced ‘THE’ WORLD CHAMPION’ SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS will reign as Champions another season.

Both bitterly disappointed teams the 2015 WS vowed to try again 2016, NY looking for its first win in 30 years while KC will continue to pursue its first in 31 years. A compromise was suggested that ‘Co’-Champions be designated, but neither team agreed as each feels they are slightly less mediocre than the other.

While the Mets starting pitching was clearly dominant, their hitting & defense clearly not; other side was no better, KC’s hitting better and bullpen marginally so, but shy NY’s defensive-gaffe gifts, neither team could ever manage to win a second game. Thus, the series ended tied 1-1 with 3 games tossed out due defensive lapses that turned Met victories into narrow escapes for KC. Voting for series MVP also was canceled, as no one could keep a straight face while trying to name a single player who stood out (for the record, the Mets Matt Harvey did receive more votes than any other player on the Mets or Royals.)

No parades are scheduled to be held in either city; everyone will just return to work tomorrow and wonder when the Championship drought both cities will end. On a positive note, fandom both sides has grown to love wearing their colorful team-colored paper bags over their heads… they’ll be meeting at a neutral site and argue which team’s blue is the more vibrant. Several fans were heard after the game stating they will be rooting for a new team in 2016, with most claiming the SF GIANTS and STL Cardinals as new faves.

Game 5 hi-lites: there were none, just the usual low-lites/more of the same horrendous defense etc. both KC & NY came to be known for this WS. Worst performance in a starting role, defense hi-jinks was a tie between NY’s Cespedes & Murphy & KC’s Hosmer, with Mets Wright & Duda and Royals Moostakas & Morales runners-up. So another year unrequited hopes finishes for the Royals & Mets… spring training and ‘wait till next year’ part 31 Royals/30 Mets can’t come soon enough.

    🙂

    • chuck says:

Bitch you would, Kero, if they, with a new rope hung you.

Come on dude, they won and came from behind better than anyone since Peter North.

      Admit it.

      🙂

    • the dude says:

I had no idea the Royals played teams from around the world to claim the title ‘World Champion’. They need to give that title a rest unless it truly is a world series.

    • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

ANOTHER WASHED UP OLD GUY WHO WANTS THE OLD DAYS…
A GUY WITH MORE KNOWLEDGE THAN YOU ABOUT BASEBALL SAID
      JUST YESTERDAY…..
this is one of the best teams I’ve ever covered……

but you know more…writing on kcc…..
LOSER…….LOSER…………HARLEY MADE YOU LOOK LIKE THE
      LOSER YOU ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Johnny Midnight says:

Except both the 2015 Royals and Mets are better teams than the 2014 Giants. I’m sorry, ‘THE’ ‘WILD CARD CHAMPION’ SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS

So another year unrequited trolling finishes for Kerouac. Chiefs 6-10 season can’t end soon enough.

      🙂

  7. Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

If you thought the Mets defense was pathetic this year in the World Series, you clearly have forgotten the 2006 Detroit Tigers. Simply awful, allowing an 83 win St Louis Cardinal team to win in 5 games, and probably should’ve been a clean sweep.

  8. paulwilsonkc says:

    You called it, CG!
From the non sports guy, I watched every post season game. What a well deserved boost to our city and what an honor for a great group of guys.
In case there’s any doubt in our farce of a political system, let this team be a reminder; CHARACTER MATTERS!
We live in a great city and I’m proud to be part of it.

    • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

HE CALLED IT LIKE YOU CALLED:
      1. THE SPRINT MERGER
      2. THE SPRINT STORY

      4. STALKERS
      5. SHOE DOGS
      6. THE PE*** KSU FORMATION
      7. all the other stuff you write about…
      YES….HARLEY WAS RIGHT AGAIN…YOU CAN’T STAND IT…

      HARLEY REIGNS SUPREME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      REMEMBER “its over…its over….its over”

  9. chuck says:

“I went to over 45 games at the k….”

Harley is a big fan. Would that it were he loved the Grateful Dead as much and would get the “Dead Head” fu*k out of town and give us a break.

Hey Harley, post a picture of all the ticket stubs along with your Diploma (snicker) from “J” school on your loserforlife.com web site.

How is your wife, Morgan Fairchild?

    • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

      sorry chuck…you surprised me today.
No vile disgusting racial epthats today. What about all those Spanish
speaking royals players. I’m sure you want to deport them back to
mexico and the Dominican republic don’t you.
And they needed interpreters…I’m sure you hated that because racists
like think if you don’t speak English you should be sent back to the country
      you came from.
Oh and what about your racist rants against blacks committing all the
crime chuck? These royals players are upstanding people…which you’re
      not used to.
Got 10K…bring it to anywhere and we’ll get an arbitrator to decide who
is who and what is what…winner walks with money.
You’re a true hater. The things you put up on this and other blogs are
not only digusting but also a disgrace to everyone…not just the Hispanics/
blacks/muslims etc that you use Nazi right wing propaganda to hate.
If you need to know how many games I went to…which is no big deal..
go ask the ushers over the teams bullpens or the usheresttes
on the first base side. Not a big deal…just a huge baseball fan as I’ve
      said before.
Now…go put on your white hood and come down to the parade.
I’m sure your pointed bald head under the white sheets and hood
      would be something to see.
Good luck. And while digging ditches don’t forget to make sure
you don’t fall in a hole!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Frank says:

    HEIL HARLEY!!

but thanks for theink…ive gotten dozens of emails today…celebrating the
      huge victory!!!!~!

      thanks….
whoever writes these threats better be prepared

      ask an attorney.
federal lawsuits can cost from 100k to 250 K
      to defend.
thanks Big bother….Harley has great attorneys!!!!!!!!!

    • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

Now the Mets are going home
    Oh Duda, eh!!!

  13. CG says:

K you are a fantastic writer and both the Royals and Chiefs organizations have been poor the last few decades. AGREED. But K you have to give credit where its due man. This Royals team is for real, very good. They are the champs and they earned it. You can be the bigger man and say so…simple as that. Hey sometimes we are wrong. We all make mistakes or predict things that aren’t correct, man knows I have….this Royals team will continue to dominate their division for the next couple years. Maybe another world series who knows. But K they are an outstanding ball club. Chiefs, uh, no.

    • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

for gods sake glaze don’t jinx us. Tell us how bad they are…tell us how
bad they have been/…..then we’ll get some more hardware in the
      post season.
luv ya glaze but you are a big zero when it comes to sports.

    • Kerouac says:

Kerouac stands by everything he said, CG… unimpressed by both teams, was no winner this World Series. Only in Kansas City, where a legit Championship has still never been won, in 60+ years pro baseball/football, does a desperate fandom call it a ‘win’… it was not, and is certainly tainted, not legit.

When a sports fan is unbiased, as Kerouac, make no excuses for nor create an red herring against two teams doing battle. Fact is, NY’s errors were ‘the’ sole reason for 3 Mets losses: Game 1 Cespedes, Game 4 Murphy & Game 7 Duda – the “doesn’t matter, we still won”refusal to acknowledge the truth, result.

Mets committed 6 errors in the series, to only 2 by KC – they were unforced, nothing to do with any causation KC. Will say, KC’s were the more laughable: pitcher Morales (“which way/base do I throw to?”) and that supposed Gold Glove 1b KC, Eric ‘Dr. Strangeglove’ Hosmer, i.e., Dick Stuart reincarnate.

No, all some care about is “scoreboard”, “record book”, etc. But we know both have been compromised, the benefit sporting hindsight. PED use in sports, as errors baseball and injuries football among aberrations allow one team prevail but not merit any legit claim superiority, history replete with examples.

Claiming KC actually ‘won’ the World Series/are better than NY is as claiming the 1971 Dolphins were better than the Chiefs because they won; Stenerud’s three missed field goals (like the Mets errors) say otherwise (after the game, Dolphins CB Tim Foley admitted, “You know, the best team didn’t win.”)

1970 AFL Championship Game vs the Raiders, Hank Stram stated post game: ‘We beat one of the greatest teams in pro football – maybe the greatest.” Hank knew Oakland was better than KC, but used “maybe” so as to not diminish the Chiefs by hook or crook miracle that day, aft losing 7 the past 8 vs the Raiders.

Fact is, shy Lamonica’s injury that game, Chiefs lose and still would have never been gifted (same as the Mets gifting the Royals) with an Championship in KC. That they did prevail changes not the fact came with an asterisk. Kerouac can say that despite being as big a Chiefs fan ever lived, in those days, because he values merit’ over ‘fate’. Fact is, KC was not as good as Oakland; ditto Jets vs BALT Superbowl III, my Dodgers vs Oakland 1988 World Series, on and on.

So the cry continues, heartland: ‘wait till next year!, KC baseball and football will try win a legit Championship again, still looking for their first ever.

      🙂

          factually challenged.
          bring it on K…lookfor excuses.
bring it on glaze…you’re a fair weather fan. Harley
          is the king again!

  15. CG says:

Harley you are a fan. I report whats going on now…you are a nut…I am not…but keep the fire going

    • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

sorry glaze…I’m going to prove you know nothing.
Youre not a fan nor pundit.

      • CG says:

Lets see Harley produced 5 sports films two were huge…Champions Forever two on Ali interviewed him during the movie…hosted and chaired 5 Red Fridays 2 Bust Out in Blue(royals) Hosted all the play off games as on stage host with many stars and interviewed Chiefs players, held their parties at Stanfords…Hosted Otis Taylor’s Hall of Fame Run at Westport with Len Dawson and Bill Grigsby…a regular on sports radio here for decades and in LA. Tons of other sports radio and podcasts…I can keep going Harley so I am just a fan…huh…plus my personal relationships with Chiefs, Royals and other KC sports stars like Tommy Morrison on and on…and what is your background?

Having said that, no I’m not always right. Nobody is…are you? Your continual Glaze knows nothing bout sports, stick to strippers…welll I’ve dated strippers true, and many other pretty ladies…but I am not a strip club guy or owner….I have made a living do sports films…so I guess I do know something on the subject. Again I’ve been wrong, many times, but just a fan…really.

        • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

          same old song.
          glaze knows nothing about sports.
go look at your past headlines.
you bashed the royals in 2014 and 2015.

Can’t we put a 10-year moratorium on that tired old Queen song? Makes one wonder how the ‘world’ champions of any team sport – and lazy headline writers – survived for the 80 or so years before it was recorded?

Not a hater or a whiner, but a Royals fan through thick and thin. All congrats to them. But WATC should truly be retired.

    • Frank says:

I agree. How about Britney Spears Oops…I did it again for two WS in a row

      • RickM says:

Well, someone has to take this semi-seriously. How about Carly Simon’s ‘Nobody Does It Better’ or ‘Simply The Best’ by Tina Turner. Guitar geeks like me prefer ‘Winning’ by Santana.

No time for losers, indeed. Sounds more appropriate for a Trump rally.

Or Back for More by Ratt

    • CG says:

Frank, Ratt, I worked with them in the 90’s in LA they took over a band I had called Reds with my cousin Keith Pittell on lead…their main man, I believe was Juan Crucia, incorrect spelling I’m sure, good guy. We had a few record company tryouts but no cigar… I remember Juan came over to watch a Chiefs game at my house in LA back in the day…fun times. Long ago.

  18. CG says:

Glad many of you got to get your feelings out on the World Champion Royals. Weather looks great today for parade….hey the nice thing for Royals fans is next year the Royals will be picked to dominate again. Nearly, barring injury, a shoe in for winning division and back to the playoffs where anything can happen…will it be 3 in a row…could be.

    • Jim a.k.a. BWH says:

CG, thanks for all of your commentary throughout the Royals season. I know you get hammered by some folks for your “takes”, but I always appreciate you putting them out there.

I’m looking forward to the total insanity downtown today! I was sitting on a cooler full of beer watching it in 1985. Times have sure changed, but the celebration is going to be epic!

      Thanks, again.

btw… folks, this is worth remembering (and for k’rac to take note of just because):

the 2016 season opens with interleague play. Royals’ season opens against the Mets. ha! they’ll get to watch KC raise the WS flag.

    • CG says:

THAT IS EPIC MAN…good one…poor Mets, I talk to my pals in New York…agents, managers, and just media guys…they all said Mets were lucky to be there, still they are depressed…but agreed most of their runs came from homers, not base hits..Royals scored like plus 40 with few homers…and then some homers too, Gordon’s and more…but Mets fielding was poor, relief pitching poor on and on..not as good as KC..hey it would have been harder against LA or St. Louis…still KC was baseball’s best in the end over all of them.

  20. Kerouac says:

And with this year’s WS title vacated by MLB*, in SAN FRANCISCO home of ‘THE’ ‘WORLD CHAMPION’ SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS, plans for their 2016 season and third consecutive World Championship are already underway.

    🙂

(PS) Mets are also celebrating MLB’s decision today in NY
