Hearne: Tiananmen Square Revisted, Tunnel Vision & Ebola

ByoLwMQCMAAvYtn.jpg-largeAs Motown great Marvin Gaye sang in, “What’s Going On?” – I’m commenting about current events using common sense  or Calvin Sense, if you will…

For example, will the situation in Hong Kong become today’s Tiananmen Square?

Perhaps not, because the Chinese have developed new strategies for dealing with dissonance; now they employ counter protesters who protest the protest.

It’s the same strategy Russia used in the Ukraine in trying to convince the world their people supported Russia’s position.

And it’s happening in Hong Kong as the counter protesters use violence and force against the legitimate protesters hoping to scare them away.

The jury’s still out on whether this tactic will be successful but it’s a tactic that has to be dealt with.

                                              TUNNEL VISION

History does repeat itself as we all know and like in ancient times, tunnels are being used in warfare.  I cannot believe South Korea didn’t safeguard itself against North Korea tunneling into Seoul.

This is not a new tactic for Hamas, the Vietnamese and Mexican drug lords who have successfully used tunnels as a strategy for decades. Even in biblical times Hezekiah’s tunnel carried water to Jerusalem.

I hope no one’s going to be wildly surprised when it’s discovered that ISIS is using tunnels or will be using to escape the bombing.

The Vietnam War proved that using tunnels to move men and supplies is a successful way to avoid bombing.

And much as I hate to forecast this, I’m beginning to believe some American generals are correct in saying that eventually our nation’s military forces will have to be on the ground to battle ISIS.

whatsgoingHowever the American people will not support our troops going back to the Middle East and any politician who supports it will not get elected.

Consequently, the good people of the Middle East are going to have to do their own dirty work to free themselves of ISIS.  This is how it should be and is just Common Sense.

Americans cannot continue to be the Middle East’s Police Force.

Although a lot of the fighting in there can be traced back to Western powers dividing up the area into different countries with littrle regard to the cultural, tribal and religious differences of the people.

It’s disastrous that something created by the so-called “civilized” Western nations now has to be cleaned up by the very nations that they were supposed to be helping.

Basically this occurred because even before WWII Western Civilization considered itself so much smarter and above that of other civilizations around the world.

THE IRONY BEHIND EBOLA COMING TO THE USA

Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

The nation of Liberia should be congratulated for possibly filing charges against the man who brought Ebola into America.

The President of Liberia on CNN stated she was embarrassed that after all America has done to help her country to fight Ebola, one of its citizens would lie on a form addressing whether they’d been in contact with a person with the disease and carry Ebola to America.

Historically speaking it is ironic that Liberia – which was founded by ex-African American slaves – is now the country that brought Ebola to America.

It would be an ironic circle of tragedy if Ebola took off in America because of descendants of the ex-slaves that founded Liberia.

    mr. non-sense….wrong again.
our world revolves among chaos….we hear these types of stories every day
of our lives. Relax…the world is now facing its own annihilation. Human will
    only speed up the process.
    thanks…
I love the way hearne refers to you as a prominent “African American”
man….which absurd…because as the book says “we’re all in this together”.

“Prominent African American Businessman,” H Man.

So prominent that it would blow your teeny-weeny mind if you found out who it was. And well might cost him some positions of prominence and/or result in his having to dial back his outspokenness on matters of race.

“It would be an ironic circle of tragedy if Ebola took off in America because of descendants of the ex-slaves that founded Liberia.”

I don’t think you know what “ironic” means.

    Bob-

Definition for ironic- using or characterized by irony
synonyms- sarcastic, sardonic, cynical, mocking, satirical, caustic

I think the phrase “…an ironic circle of tragedy…” fits perfectly with what the article suggests. Mr. C I believe is using as cynical.
