obscure sports bet of the week:

The Aussie Rules football grand final is being held in about 7 hours at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The best offensive team, the Hawthorne Hawks are playing the best defensive team, the Freemantle Dockers.

Freemantle, or Freo as their fans call them will fall just short in their Cinderella quest to win their first Premiership crown in their 19 years of existence. Hawthorne has won 10 over their 101 year history.

Freemantle can play a slow down game so just pick the Hawthorne Hawks straight up, no point spread.

Sportsbet.com.au is giving 1.68 odds for the Hawthorn Hawks. That means if you risk $100 you get your $100 back plus $68.

Bust out the Foster’s and the Meat pies because the men in the PeePee and Poopy colored jerseys are going to be hoisting the cup in 2013.

Chuck I like how you don’t even jack around with college. Go right for the Pros.
I like Ravens, Saints — also like the Boys.
Not sure about Chefs. Did not see any of Carolina Giants game, hard to believe the score. Thought the Giants played some offense V. Cowboys, I tend not to bet against teams that have a Manning.

  3. CG says:

Chuck, where did you get those points? Colts are 9 1/2, Chiefs are 4 1/2 to 5, best sports numbers are on scoresandodds.com, you can even go to the board and see about 6 casino spreads all within a point of each other or even less. That is under Vegas odds…for all pro and college. I think its the best board cause it has the casinos, MGM, Caesars, Harrah’s and a few others…but Colts are no lower than 9 1/2, I think they will cover the spread, but I did tease it to make sure down to 3 1/2. I like Denver too at 11 1/2 but teased it down to 5 1/2 to be safe. You never know these days.

I apologise if I screwed up Glaze, but this website is supposed to update stuff hourly.

    http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/las-vegas/

    Yeah, JJ Watt rules.

    πŸ™‚

There are several casinos on that site.

    πŸ™‚

  5. chuck says:

If my site sucks, please let me know.

    πŸ™‚

  6. chuck says:

Hey Glaze, I will give you one point and take Houston for 25.00.

    πŸ™‚

I will send the money to Stanfords or give it to Hearne.

    πŸ™‚

  7. CG says:

Well if you insist. I get Seattle plus 1? If so ok. Houston was one of my fan’s before the season but they have let me down so far. But if that’s what you want ok. Deal.

    • chuck says:

      NO!!!!!

      Jesus!!

I throw you a bone and you torture me.

      LMAO!!

Get the Fu*k outta here!! Seattle is a 3.5 fave!!

      LMAO!!

      Bet is off!!!

      But, I am LMAO!!!

      πŸ™‚

  8. chuck says:

    Very funny stuff!!

Picture the conversation, the bullsh*t and the final exchange.

    Funny stuff.

NO!! Glaze, I will not give you a point and bet on Houston when Vegas says that Houston should lose by 3.

Jesus, we are not actually sitting beside each other in a bar.

    Luv ya buddy.

  9. chuck says:

    Yes. I take the bet—

Jesus, I have been sluggin beers all day with low lifes like me.

    πŸ™‚

Sorry buddy, I take the bet.

    Houston wins.

I am hammered, and still, I gotta tell ya, Houston kicks thier azzes.

    Kills ’em.

ok 25 bucks pay Hearne or we can mail it or whatever works…I trust you Chuck, you are a good guy, we met once at Jardines. Hey I liked Houston but they have been off their game so far all year…they cost me a bundle in Vegas when I had them -4 over SD and they won by 3, killed me…I was pissed.

  10. balbonis moleskine says:

I like all of these 4 except I would probably lay off mnf game this week. But as chuck wisely pointed out, thats where the gamblers try to get back to even.

If you put a gun to my head I would take the Saints. I dont know about that 47 o.u .
With the invigorated saints defense and the hot-cold way the fins tend to play I am not sure we are going to get close to that.

  11. Orphan of the Road says:

I’m gonna take Jimmy Kimmel (+4.5) over Kayne West.

Chargers & Cowboys in the Someone Is Going To Blow This Game In The Most Agonizing Way Possible Bowl. AFC West is 11-3 against NFC East.

Will Evil Manning make 666 this year? 600 points, 6,000 yards and 60 touchdowns. Four neck surgeries, the horrible loss to the Ravens in the playoffs and baby brother’s two Super Bowl wins may have turned him to the dark side. Ravens showed if you hit him, better hit him good or he is going to get angry. And you won’t like him angry.

Kevin Gilbride’s caveman approach to football is uncanny. Look for Coughlin to punch him ala Buddy Ryan on Sunday if they continue to try and plough the yardage.

Will it be RGIII and four losses after Oakland spots them 4.5?

It’s always nice when the Hater in Chief is wrong. Clearly, Chuck is a neatly dressed black man with a penchant for headware, patriotic colors, who rides the subway with the common people and I say more power to him! I hope you smoke your predictions and become KCC’s Chuck “Chicken George” the Greek.

amazing…an entire story and comments and not one reference
      to n******s by chuckles…not a single racist rant…not one
insane quote about the N******s killing and screwing everyone
      in everyway.
amazing…did chuckles go see the light at church last night?
or is he just temporarilyy holding up the most vile/disgusting/
horrible comments on any blog or board?

      • Desperate to cling onto their ability to dictate reality, the crumbling mainstream media is beginning to kill off article comment sections in a cynical bid to silence dissenting voices.

Studies confirm that article comments sections – for better or worse – are heavily swaying public opinion. How many times have you read a mainstream news article about NSA spying, drones, gun control or any other other hot button issue where the author sides with the establishment, only to have their argument completely eviscerated by the respondents in the comment section?

Recent polls show that trust in mainstream media is hovering at record lows. After largely failing to influence the court of public opinion via paid trolls, the establishment is starting to panic and is responding by moving to cull comment sections altogether.

Popular Science and BoingBoing.net recently announced their decision to kill comment sections on their website. The New York times also recently announced that it is scaling back comments and removing them from some articles altogether.
As an excellent Daily Tech piece highlights, Popular Science admitted that its decision to pull the comment section was in order to preach a “scientific doctrine” on global warming without being challenged. The origin of the word “doctrine” is to indoctrinate. Therefore, Popular Science is taking the most unscientific approach possible – by censoring debate and stifling alternative ideas – in order to indoctrinate its readers.

The decision to kill comment sections on news websites will only result in the mainstream losing traffic to alternative sites which allow free expression and do not resort to censorship.

Man I love, just love having hair!!

      • paulwilsonkc says:

Chuck, ever get the idea some dullards comment without even following the story/comment line of thought? Some seem to do an Evelyn Woods scan then straight to the unintelligible non sequiters and off base, innacurate accusations?

  13. chuck says:

Not bad, I got 4 outta 6 and that side bet with Glaze was actually in reality -3.5 in Vegas, so if you were not a dummy like me and made a side bet against the odds, then you were 5 outta 6. Some casinos had it at -3, some at -3.5 so really, 4 outta 5.

Glaze let me run my big mouth and then sucked me in like a big Tuna.

    πŸ™‚

Glaze, I am mailing the check to Stanfords today.

Thats what I get for getting cocky.

  14. chuck says:

I still can’t believe that Seattle game, that was my best pick, I studied the heck outta that one.

    • CG says:

Chuck keep your money brother. We are cool, next time we will do something. You are a good guy and we can just laugh about it, ok. You have been the only one to make some good calls each week. Hope you are winning.
