Mark Edelman

As a founding member of the Alt-Jew rock band GUNS N CHAROSES, Mark Edelman has been at the rear of most of the musical trends that shaped American culture for the last fifty years. He’s had dinner with Victor Borge at Plaza III; brunch with Marvin Hamlisch at the old Prospect of Westport; lunch with Anthony Quinn at the Kansas City Club and a wild dinner at the Hereford House, during which a somewhat inebriated Desi Arnaz got up and performed “Baba Lu.” Additionally, he drove Jay Leno around the State of Louisiana looking for take-out pizza. If there seems to be a food theme to much of this cultural derring-do, it’s like Shakespeare said: “If Music be the food of love, play on.”

A member of the Tony Awards voting body, Edelman has seen just about every new play and musical produced on Broadway in the last three decades. He is the Executive Producer of 12th STREET JUMP, the weekly jazz, blues and comedy variety show broadcast live on KCUR from the Kansas City’s famous 12th Street Strip—all of which makes him the perfect candidate for filing dispatches on the local theater and jazz scenes for KC Confidential. And his mom worked for Hearne’s dad.
