Thrilla in Vanilla: Miller vs Muller, the Final Chapter?
This just in, from Stanford & Sons main man Craig Glazer…
That fabled Kansas City radio riotmaster Randy Miller – whose on-air antics during the 80s, 90s and early 2000s are the stuff of legend – may be poised to return to the airwaves.
However not in the Cowtown.
“I was told that the big news was Randy Miller would be on the air middays in Chicago going up against Mancow,” Glazer says. “That it’s a firm deal and he’s starting May 1st. So he’s up – batter up!”
If true, it would go down on Chicago talk station WGN 720 Radio where Miller has appeared as a guest DJ. If he goes up against former protege Mancow, Miller would slot in from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., in a spot currently nailed down by a rather vanilla-sounding Kathy and Judy show. Kathy and Judy are currently conducting a – yawn – “Become Your Best Britney” contest.
Meanwhile, Mancow continues to eat former 980 KMBZ talker Jerry Agar’s lunch on WLS 890 AM in Chicago, and syndicate The Mancow Show from 5:30 to 10 a.m. weekdays.
The $64 billion question: any truth to the Miller Time talk?
“I’m in talks with them but nothing is signed,” Miller says. “I’m scheduled to fill in the week of April 27th from to May 1st from 9 a.m. to noon. You can listen at wgnradio.com.”
In addition to stints on KCTV 5 as a capricious traffic reporter and a stint hosting a local TV dating show called “Not My Type,” Miller runs a marketing company Brainstorm Media.
Miller has more-or-less been a radio orphan since parting company with Union Broadcasting’s former adult-alternative station The Planet 97.3 FM in November of 2003.
You know the drill – stay tuned…
