You know it amazes me, when people start trashtalking the police for doing THEIR job! Do any of you know what happens to police officers, day in and day out? They do a thankless job, with little pay and obviously little respect from the community! If you were shot at, ran off the road by someone who was impaired, I think you all would call the police! I am happy that our officers are out there, some who sacrifice their lives, to make our community safer. This is not a court, just a stupid website that someone sent me, i have never heard of this guy...blah blah, and everyone makes mistakes.... We don't just wake up one day and decide to be an alcoholic or addict! For many of us it is a long progression that encompasses many years of functionality before the bottom falls out. My experience is that substance abusers often do drive drunk or under the influence of drugs even though they know it is wrong. Addictive behavior begets poor judgment and bad decision making, but it's also a form of denial because giving up driving due to your addiction forces one to admit there is a problem. Most people who are not alcoholic but drink too much turn over the keys, take a cab or call a friend. They have no shame in this simply because they are not alcoholic or addicted. But true substance abusers continue to play a cat and mouse game with the police until they get caught. Then they tend to minimize or make light of their behavior while blaming the police for getting them off the street. The fact is, despite the rants in this blog, it is not the soccer moms or so-called law abiding citizens who drink too much, just this one time, that are filling our dockets and jails. It is the chronic abusers and if they insist on driving they will eventually get caught. I have no idea if Hearne Christopher is an alcoholic or addict but if he is, Hearne would already know it.
