Hearne: Scribe Clings to Life, says Chiefs Star Ted McKnight

This just in…

KCC scribe and comedy club czar Craig Glazer underwent surgery earlier today and lived to tell the story…in a manner of speaking.

That according to longtime Glazer pal (and former roommate) legendary Chiefs running back Ted McKnight.

“I was just at the hospital with Craig and he’s in a pretty bad way, but he seems to be resting,” McKnight says. “They operated on him today – they’re just doing what they can – and they have him stabilized. So right now they’ve got some control of him and they’re just trying to keep the guy alive.”

McKnight says he watched Glazer go downhill over the past year…

“Craig was not taking care of himself,” McKnight says. “This thing did not sneak up on him.”

McKnight tried to lighten things up and breath a little life into the stricken funny guy.

“I whispered in his ear and told him some dirty stories and he rolled his eyes around a little bit,” McKnight says.  “But at this point, they’re doing what they can for him here on earth – the rest is up to God.”

Wow, back around 1978, 1979 I lived right next to Ted McKnight in Glendale Apartments off 291. He was always a very nice to us kids making noise outside the North side of his apartment!

  2. I’ve never met Craig, but he’s obviously a larger-than-life sort of personality that the world could use to have a lot more of. I pray for him tonight. God Loves the men and women of the world who’ve lived the lives that most of us can only fantasize about.

you know what they say, dogs and comedy club owners get old in a day. all of the roast beef dancers are going to have a moment of silence and a shot of ciroc for their mushugannah sugga daddy

I ran into him down in Westport last summer at “Mario’s”. He didn’t look the same then, like he hadn’t slept or something. I really pray he recovers and gets back to being the same old guy we all, or, most of us enjoyed here in this room.

Hearne, did you go see him?

You can’t go, not yet CG… be more swiss chiefs and fraudroyals lame games to argue. Good thing you were asleep Thursday night – you didn’t have to watch #15 stink it up like raw a*s vs the Texans at Arrowhead. Yeah, he’s got future Hall of Fame, the next Favre and multi-time Superbowl winner written all over him, sure.

Get well soon and stop drinking that swiss chief kool-aid every year… it’s bad for you.

    Best, your pal

Amarcord when a vomit up dictated CG story got a hundred comments in the Harley spam/Paul Wilson know-it-all man about town/Challenge CG to fights in faraway places era.

Now CG dying can’t even get 10 comments. And to make it sadder they are all positive. What happened to us as a nation.

TP, guys like Craig don’t come around very often. Craig was the BMKC Club Owner. Gruff, brash, unafraid, unyielding and mostly unlikeable especially if you had a run-in with him. And Craig probably had at least 4-5 run-ins every day, didn’t care about those bridges he burned because he had enough money and coke to stay on top of this Cow Town Mountain(actually, small hill).

So what’s happened is Craig is bowed out. It wasn’t pretty, his brothers died, his movie didn’t get made, his dad was never coming back so he auctioned off his KCHIStory and he shut down Stans forever..all this happened seemingly at once.

Club Owners don’t live long nor do they go away quietly. They coke out and when it’s the end they punch one more guy in the face. Not many folks at the end ever thought any good of him after he stomped on their small town ego. However, a few of us actually admire him, that he never changed nor did he leave ANYTHING behind. It was Craig Glazer Scorched Earth at the end, boy wadn’t it?

See, Craig didn’t give a sh!t what we thought at the end. A few of us; I guess 10, 20, I don’t know how many. A few of us admire him for what he was and the way he left us.

I’m sure all that HGH, testosterone, and other stuff he was playing around with didnt help.

There is no fountain of youth.

Take care of yourself and enjoy every day you are upright and above ground is the best advice anybody ever gave me.

  8. David Nelson says:

Hoping to hear a positive update soon. For all who followed his gambling picks here is to CG just “teasing “ death.

  9. Mr Yellow says:

cocaine is a hell of a drug

  10. The Guy Who Knew Too Much says:

Craig is a massive d-bag but I don’t want the guy to die. Kicking a dude when he’s down is just bad karma.
