Glazer: Scribe says, ‘Don’t Trade Marcus Peters’

Say this about Chiefs GM Brett Veach, he’s been aggressive with his preseason moves…

He wants a better defense and to go younger.

The Chiefs already released Derrick Johnson who is just too old and wounded to continue to hold down the middle linebacker spot. Tamba Hali and a few others will be gone as well.

However, without question the only dominant defender is Marcus Peters.

Peters is a superstar cornerback and clearly the best defender Kansas City has today.

But Peters is unhappy with the Chiefs and they are tired of his attitude and bad behavior on the field. The guy is fantastic at his post and a game changer when nobody else on our defense really has been as of late.

Can we afford to trade him now?

Clearly money is a big issue, Peters wants a long term, big money deal which he’s earned.

At just 25 Peters is in his last year of a four-year contract.

Rumors are he wants out.

Last year Peters once again made big plays, with 5 INT’s to lead the team and several stripped balls and fumble recoveries when it mattered. One could argue that without Peters last season there would have been no playoff game. No division title.

There’s been talk about perhaps moving linebacker Justin Houston as well.

That said, Houston’s big money contract seems to be in the way of salary cap problems. And Houston has not lived up to the expectations of his monster money deal with KC. He still has the potential to be an impact player if his knee gets healed and he can be used in a better way.

Those are our only two star defenders save Eric Berry, out last year with an injury.

Peters is a shocker because he has 19 INT’s in just three seasons and is perhaps the AFC’s best corner. Yes, he could bring perhaps second and third round trade picks. Maybe a first rounder.

Yet to find a player of Peters caliber is rare.

We know he’s radical with his attitude and perhaps a locker room headache, but his value is off the chain.

And with Patrick Mahomes coming in at quarterback and the Chiefs maybe having a shot at having a Super Bowl in a year or two, I think finding a way to keep Peters makes the most sense.

and remember, off the field he has not been an issue – and that’s another big plus.

I’d hate to lose such a playmaker at this point with a defense that needs fixing.

Hopefully the front office can find a way to fix this relationship and keep the best player on our defense.

Because now that KC has picked up a strong corner from the Redskins on the Alex Smith deal, I’d hate to see that all go bye-bye with losing Peters.

Were Kerouac contrarian with a Ventures song in his heart, ‘Run, Don’t Walk’ to the nearest telephone, answer ‘SOLD!’ to the best offer could get for the football pacifist Peters – an 2nd round choice & nothing more likely, some sucker team can be found.
Conversely, if you enjoyed last year’s antics his, just imagine the lack of leverage KC management would have keeping Peters under control aft re-signing him multi-year extension.

Peters tantamount Monty Python’s ‘Black Knight’: all lip, no limbs. Were he a song lyric, Zager & Evans ‘your arms hangin’ limp at your sides’ ‘In The Year 2525’, 2018 close enuf. No Raider Jack Tatum, he… Peters evinces ‘San Francisco flower-child’,
tackling form his; he’d probably prefer play in the Bay area anyway (fantasy trade: Raiders get Peters, Mahomes & draft choice, Chiefs receive LB Mack & QB Carr.)

As for Houston, we have a problem, KC: too much $ tied up an LB the antithesis of former Chiefs great Bobby Bell: no consistency. As such, swiss are stuck with him… isn’t a team would/should touch him in trade, aside his injury history. Age too – he turns 30 in less than a year.

Berry? Trying to return an achilles injury his age (turns 30 this year) an big question mark as well. Former Chiefs Derrick Johnson & Mike Devito recent examples of how well that works out 30-something players terms productivity, post operation.

Upshot: swiss are as dutch boy trying plug holes roster: keep plugging away, every year new ones appear just as they think they’ve fixed the old… part 2018, verse 49.

    🙁

Send him to play in Venezuela for La selección de fútbol de Venezuela.

He can wipe his ass with his hand and partake in all of the great Socialist opportunities that are available. Maduro will probably take a pretty dim view of kneeling for the anthem though.

    Power to the people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Down with the White Patriarchy!!!!!!!!!

Two words. First Amendment. Well, unless you’re part of the “America:Love it or leave it” crowd.

Personally, I wouldn’t care if they sent him down the line. Not because of his lack of talent or exercising his 1st amendment rights. I think he’ll cost you more games than he’ll win you. Period.

      • Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

Sorry Jimbo. The 1st amendment ends when you do it on your employer’s time/dime. If I was espousing my political views during my engagements with my clients, I’d be warned and then fired if I didn’t stop. Want to be a political activitst? Do it on your own time.

  3. Rainbow Man says:

100 % agree. We know what we have in Peters.. a turnover causing machine

    • CG says:

Yes Rainbow Man…look he is a headache at times simple sit him down with GM and Andy and discuss the issues, his contract and his attitude and the Chiefs…either he cooperates or he’s gone…but he is entitled to a bigger payday and he does need to be a ‘team’ player and stop the ‘hateful’ attitude…my god Marcus you are on what may be soon a super bowl contender, get your money and do your job…you aren’t on the team to change the world and you won’t…so enjoy the ride or go.

  4. Boom Boom says:

oh but he’s a commie…didn’t stand for the anthem.
ship him out asap. He’s a disgrace according to chucklets…
get rid of him…..he’s no good….can’t tackle….(which most cover corners have
problems doing)….he’s a radical…..he walked on turf with no shoes…
COMEON GLAZE YOU AND THE UNINFORMED FANS OF KC CHIEFS
    ARE PLAIN STUPID.
WHAT DO YOU GET FOR CORNERS THESE DAYS?
Accorind to you every sstarter on the team will be gone. The only ones left
will be second third stringers…and of course they’ll be able to win the west
with gruden and carr’s new winning machine.
Again…stupidity reigns and flourishes when I see a story from glazo bozo.
    Please….run for some office…dog catcher/sanitation head/something you
    have experience in.

    DING-DING DING-DING DING-DING- DING!!! SUCKER FOUND!!!

Peters a goner – Kerouac nails another! Looks like its the Rams that have been $uckered into taking the swiss problem child off our hands: multiple picks possibly, according the early reports, we shall see. I still don’t believe KC gets anything higher than a 2nd round draft choice in 2018, plus any throw-in pick(s) later rounds or to be realized in 2019.

One down, one more to go (with a couple more waiting in the wings potentially:)

    * kelce the klown is not on thin ice – he’s fallen through it and also needs to be sent packing; could see a late 1st round pick being obtained for him, certainly a second. buh-bye klown.

    * k unt (the h is silent): observed ‘his’ head beginning to swell as well in 2017 tho he didn’t even sniff NFL Rookie of the Year honors (congrats Deshaun Watson and also Alvin Kamara.) Words of advise #27: knock off your ‘sleepin’ on the ball’ prima dona end zone antics, or you’ll be the next one on a bus outta KC.

    * albert ‘ I like to shuck & jive whenI’m not dropping passes left & right’ wilson: free agent to be: save us some grief – hit the road jack and don’t you come back no mo no mo no mo no mo.

Those the worst offenders the ‘hey look at me everybody!’ club… kudos Clark Hunt and/or whoever else located a pair of cojones make these necessary move(s) reality.

Upshot: above mission accomplished x4, and this is starting to look like a ‘team’ again.

    GO CHIEFS!

    😎

    • Kerouac says:

Dishonorable mention as well WR Tyweak ‘Bye-Bye Wave’ Hill, Justin ‘Bow and Pray Cuz I Already Done Got Paid’ Houston, DT Rakeem ‘I Ain’t Too Keen, Just Like To Make A Spectacle of Myself” Nunez-Roches, as well any the other prima donas, ‘hey look at me’ showboats & hot doggers forgot to mention… GET OUT.

PS (don’t go away mad fellers… just go away)

  6. CG says:

PETERS GONE. CHIEFS TRADE PETERS TO LA RAMS FOR A TOP DRAFT PICK…SHOCKER CLEVELANDS GM, DORSEY SAYS NO TO EVEN WANTING PETERS AS DOES FORMER CHIEF HEAD COACH OF BEARS…SO MAYBE THERE IS A REAL PROBLEM WITH PETERS and the locker room and his attitude…he’s gone.

    • Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

Top draft pick? HAHAHAHAHA! Uhhhh. No. 2nd and a 4th.

      • Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

Clarification, the Chiefs have reportedly sent a 6th round pick and Marcus Peters to the Rams for a 2nd round pick this year and a 4th round pick next year.

        LOLOLOLOLOLOL!

  7. Harry Balczak says:

Glad he is gone, he is a complete dick. Do you think it was a coincidnce that the losing streak ended when he was suspended. Sometimes the talent isn’t worth it. He hates KC and the fans anyway. Good riddance!

  8. Kerouac says:

As we bid adieu another NFL (not for long) KC Chiefs malcontent, a few final thots:

Notice how ‘great’ teams/players of the past didn’t ‘showboat’… never saw Bart Starr/ Packers or Len Dawson/ Chiefs, taunt, gyrate and/or ‘lip off’, play to the camera, etc.
In fact, ‘Hall of Fame’ QB Len said during his prime – “there is a time and a place for everything, but the football field is neither the time nor the place to fool.”

Memo for a fool – that rules out end zone sack races, throwing penalty flags/booting footballs into the stands, spasming about the field as if in the troes gran mal seizure, shuckin & jivin, etc. etc. etc.

“But they guys ain’t ‘brothers’ man, you know what I means, man!?! It’s a ‘black thang’ man!”

    – no, it’s a ‘team’ thang… man. Bobby Bell, Buck Buchanan, Willie Lanier, black Chiefs other/et al yesteryear – never saw them act the fool afield during the course a game.

“Yeah but, that was ‘then’ man, and this is ‘now man! You know what I means man?”

    – some things never change: today’s most successful team over time/Patriots, as the Packers yester, did not/do not present themselves afield misplaced members circus, zoo or theater – rather, football players a ‘team’ in lieu ‘I’ndividuals, no thespians an stage starring their own carefully crafted ‘me me me me me!’ theater the absurd.

“Aww man, today is a different time man, you know what I means man!”

    – yes: ‘yesterday’ brought Championship, ‘today’ the losing habit. Wanna lose, keep on dancin’… want to win, start acting like it – for :60 minutes/till the final whistle sounds.

Just maybe ‘winning’ equates ‘discipline’, today just as yesterday. Perhaps reason why an Championship trophy resides such places as Philadelphia, New England & Denver of late, while the compounding hollow sound of ‘wait till next year’, ‘part 2018’, ‘verse 49’ is a Chiefs thang… know what I mean, man?

    😎

  9. Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

Details of the trade are coming out. The Chiefs got a 2nd round pick and a 4th round pick for Peters. LOLOLOLOL! Doesn’t sound to me like many teams wanted to deal with his garbage attitude.
