Glazer: Eric Hosmer says Goodbye to Royals, KC for Good.

Let me make one thing perfectly clear…

I believe the Kansas City Royals letting Eric Hosmer and the Moose leave was the right call. Even with them the team would have been near the bottom. They just don’t have enough talent to compete.

KC needs to build with new guys over the next few years…if possible.

So some fans are upset with Hosmer for leaving. Get a grip. What would you have done?

Hosmer gave us his younger years and was the biggest name in Royals history since George Brett. He helped lead us to two World Series and one win.

The guy’s a damn good player – just not a superstar – at least not yet.

Getting a more than $100 million deal with an out in four seasons was a great one for Hosmer. And moving to San Diego and the Padres has him in a city where he can still get attention if he plays well and they compete.

Staying with the Royals was a dead end deal…

It might have gotten him big bucks, but his name and attention would have all but gone south except with KC fans. Because the national media doesn’t talk much about players on a team that doesn’t compete…as is now the case with KC.

Hosmer is not a .330 hitter with plus 35 homers and over 100 RBI’s so he would get little attention here, barring a huge breakout by the team.

Which is highly unlikely.

Let’s face it, Hosmer never planned on being a Royal forever.

He was done here and just waiting for his best offer from the best city to play for over the next several seasons. The Padres are not a contender yet but it’s Sand Diego. There’s nightlife, ladies, it’s close to Hollywood and media attention he can make there – even outside the game with his looks and playing ability – will cast him in a larger limelight.

P.S. It’s good that KU is coming back now tied with Texas Tech for Big 12 title…nice, lets get it done

Moose is still an unsigned free agent, who knows where he will end up?

  2. Kerouac says:

And now for the next :15 seconds ‘As The World Turns’, brought to you today as yester by Ivory Soap, 99 and 44/100% pure (the 56/100% other concern, a question has been burning the unscrubbed corners collective minds a long, long, LONG time.)

Eric augury? KC’s less Kacie’s more? Miles fly, tabs keep… here today gone tomorrow? Crow’s fly south Murray, Ponder, Pettibone. Hosmer? Enquiring minds want to know.
Still to come the sporting life: golf, hockey, basketball, soccer, racing and weightlifting.

Back at 10, see you then.

Hoz going to the Padres is akin to taking early retirement. The west coast moves him out of prime time attention most of the time and the Padres show little to make you think they will be superstars. This is clearly not how Hoz wanted his free agency to go. Still love hoz….. always will

    • CG says:

I’m not sure bout that T.a. No the Padre’s are not a contender as of yet, maybe in a couple years and likely before KC. Eric has several good years left, don’t forget how Carols Beltron did after leaving KC. If Hoz has a few good years he can leave the Padres at age 32 for greener pastures say New York or Boston! So I wouldn’t count his future out just yet.

  4. Boom Boom says:

    Do you blame him.
sunny skies…beautiful areas…hugemarket….more hotties in one mile square than
all of kc…..no fat people…..beautiful home with no snow…..millions in the bank
so he can do anythig he wants…OR
the sad life of kc…flyover city….crumby weather 6 months out of the year…no
beach (except oceans of fun for those who don’t mind getting diseases)….team with
no bench and no farm….NOTHING FOR A YOUNG GUY LIKE HOZ!
It was not a hard decision. And Boras hated kc…he was never coming back….it’s
on the bigger and more beautiful pastures.
For those of you who think he even was considering kc yOU’RE DUMBER THAN
    DUMB GLAZO BOZO.
    Seriously..lets get serious.

    • admin says:

Agree (except for the part about Glazo)

      • Boom Boom says:

glazo bozo has been wrong more that 80 per cent of the itme.
My grandma mary could be more wrong making matzoh balls an placing them on twister boards than that fukin itiot glazo.
I’m will to renew my bet which you ended….glazo bozo verssus
grandma mary on the first 30 games of royals season.
If grandma mary wins glazo bozo takes her for full course meal at any restaurant of her choice plus ride in his expensive leased vehcile. If glazo bozo loses he leaves kcc forever. Is that a deal or not?????????????????????????????????????????????????????///

Harley/Boom Boom/Jo Jo look you complete fool, uneducated, nothing…I said Eric wasn’t coming back last year…and agreed that of course moving on was best for him, the Royals stink and will for years to come..as mentioned…nobody with a brain thought he’d be back unless no other team made a half way decent offer, nobody wants to live here unless its ‘a big city to them from a nowhere place’ like you or you are born here…its not a glamour city and our weather is not the greatest…so on and on…plus the Royals are kinda a nobody team as they have been since Brett…on and on..so Harley I know you worship me find someone else to bother huh…you are unknown, never mentioned anywhere but on here where you write as a fake name nobody and YOU ARE A JOKE AND ONLY ON HERE CAUSE HEARNE AND READES FIND YOU FUNNY AS A ‘NUT’ GET IT.

  6. Boom Boom says:

grandma mary is 97 but listens to every royals game. Is glazo a chicken…..
is hearne afraind to lose his only writer. Lets make the bet

  7. E.H. says:

Hosmer is a pretty good fit for San Diego. He’s a clubhouse leader which they need, Wil Meyers definitely is not a leader. Anyway, Hosmer gets to live in San Diego, great for him and his family I really hope it works out for him. Same goes to Lorenzo Cain in Milwaukee. I don’t blame GM Dayton Moore for letting these guys get away, we’re hamstrung with A-Gor and Ian Kennedy for at least 2 more years so just rebuild and see if he can strike lightning twice. What if KC returns to the WS before the Padres and Brew Crew? Wouldn’t that be something?

  8. Harry Balczak says:

Hosmer is above average at at best. He disappears for months at a time, and has just passed his career year at age 27. When they are good, the Padres are barely on the national radar, when they suck most people forget they exist until thier team plays them, and even then they say “Who is on the Padres again?” And their stadium is huge, so goodbye chance for more than 20 homers in a season. Sorry, don’t mean to be bitter, but look up these predictions in three or four years and see how they play out.
