Glazer: Don’t Look Now, Stanford’s is Back!

After a long wait Stanford’s 813 is now open at 813 Walnut downtown…

The club is much more like our old Westport location. We have comedy seven nights a week with shows that start at 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Sunday with an open mic starting at 6 p.m. We will have entertainment nightly from 9 p.m.to 3 a.m. with different guest entertainers, DJ’s and Facebook Live star Will Kidd live nightly at the club.

The new Stanford’s has a game room with pool, video and of course, food and drinks.

Should be fun.

You know I can’t wait to be back out at a club til 3 A.M. Ha.

We also have some hot female bartenders and servers.

Parking is free on the street out front and we have our own parking garage next door. You can also enter from Grand. So we are back in midtown in Missouri after a 15 year absence while we did our Kansas thing in Overland Park and at Legends.

Why the long wait to open?

While the Kansas City liquor control staff and crew were very nice to us and wanted to help us get open pretty quickly (we began the process in late July), the state agency located in Jefferson City was much tougher on us and took more than three months to approve the needed license. Thus the long wait. We had planned to be open to the public in September. You can only imagine the difficulties and headaches of not knowing when everything would be cleared so we could plan our opening and hire the acts. Major distress.

However that’s behind us now and our staff is excited to finally be good to go. Yes, we have many big screen TVs, so you won’t miss a game or event, like the upcoming Chiefs game.

Our comedy room is the front room facing Walnut. We also have two outdoor patios that you can eat and drink on in front and one enclosed next to the club. So that’s the basic set up.

As most of you know downtown is on the move with lots of new restaurants, neighborhood bars and stores and tons of banks and financial operations with lots of younger people moving to KC from other cities to work at.

The apartments and condos are on fire with new tenants and with more and more events and businesses there seems to be a bright future for our growing downtown. Even the streetcars have lots of folks riding them, going back and forth to where they live or work.

If you haven’t been downtown lately, it’s time to check it out.

See you at Stanfords 813.

In today’s sexual harassment climate is this really the wording you wish to use? What no HOT male bartenders? Who makes the decisions about the relative hotness of these “hot female” employees? Do you have a sexual harassment policy? If so post it here so we know we are not supporting a coming court case where you get slammed for having “hot female” employees.

Failures abound. How many more are you going to have before you decide to do something you might succeed at?
