It’s difficult to write a STAR WARS perspective when you’re asked by the studio to pretty well stay away from the story line direction and—god forgive—spoilers…
So I’ll oblige those studio-directed no-no’s and just say that STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI delivers for millions of fans on various levels.
About 10 minutes into the epic space opera the film asks the question:
‘Where is Rey?’
We find her confronting Luke Skywalker with: “We NEED Luke Skywalker!”
And I just bet that Mark Hamill in the role couldn’t agree more as we last saw him only briefly at the conclusion of THE FORCE AWAKENS two years back.
Ah, but as they say, the story continues in Episode VIII which vastly expands Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) role all the while injecting her newly discovered abilities while taking the adventure into even more and extremely visual directions.
“This is not going to go the way you think,” Luke tells Rey.
And that’s a solid hint at what to expect from the movie.
Foremost the film pays homage to General Leia—Carrie Fisher‘s final performance before her untimely death a year ago.
Her work in front of the camera was thankfully completed shortly prior to her passing.
The film ends with the frame:
“Dedicated to our princess Carrie Fisher.”
Oh, and in the words of Luke Skywalker, “The War is just beginning and it won’t be the last Jedi!”
Translation: We’ll find that out on December 20, 2019 when Episode IX is scheduled to be unveiled to fans around the world.
Some final thoughts about TICKETS!
The pre-sale of “THE LAST JEDI” tickets has been overwhelming—especially for this opening weekend.
But bear in mind that practically every theater playing the film will be devoting almost half of its total screen-count to the movie.
Which means that at many theaters JEDI will be in 10 to 12—or even more auditoriums this premier weekend!
So you WILL be able to get tickets, trust me.
The only problem I foresee are for those prime-afternoon and early evening showings. They usually sell out first.
So if for example you are interested in a 7:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m. or 8:00 p.m.
performance then my suggestion would be choosing a theater with Reserved Seating!
It guarantees your seat, avoids long lines and possible disappointment.
What else can I tell you?
Just that STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI brings a new order to the galaxy.
My grade: B+
Saw it last night and liked it. But did drag a bit in the middle. Could easily have been cut by 15 minutes.
