Glazer: Scribe Polishes His Orb, Cringes, Braces for KU @ Ohio

Another tough week for local college teams…

K-State should handle Vand., However KU and MU look to be in trouble.

I like Ohio at home over Kansas.

Too bad Kansas State has to face OSU and OU at some point because both are Top 10 teams and contenders for the final four (more so OU). Kansas State looks like it may be better than it has been the last few seasons and make a run, at least for the Big 12 title that will still be uphill.

The Chiefs, on the other hand, are the darlings of the NFL for now.

Going up to New England and beating the world champs was a monster win.

And discovering Kareem Hunt at running back is clearly the key to the Chiefs’ offense moving up to Super Bowl levels.

Yes, QB Alex Smith has to play with improved numbers as he did last week in what was his best regular season game as a pro with four touchdown throws and over 300 yards in the air. Very nice.

So the Chiefs face coach Andy Reid‘s old team the Eagles.

Philly is also improved – and remember, a 9-7 team from last season. So they are a clear NFC post season contender this year.

That said, they face KC at Arrowhead with a fan base that will be insane after the big win last week and for the home opener.

It’s Red Friday week. Remember when that mattered?

We did Red Fridays in Westport for thousands of fans back in the 90’s when the Chiefs were truly a good team. Who knows? Maybe they are again.

KC is a 5 1/2 point favorite so this one could be close.

Now that the Chiefs likely have two, maybe three all pros on offense – Travis Kelce (who is still over rated until he proves different), Kareem Hunt (could be the league’s best) and of course the game changer, Tyreek Hill – that offense is as of now SUPER.

The defense with Eric Berry gone, but with Daniel Sorenson replacing him, should be fine as long as Justin Houston shows up again and Derek Johnson stays healthy.

This could be the Chiefs year – Alex Smith’s year and Andy Reid’s dream.

If KC defeats the Eagles, and they should, they then face a weak Washington team and should be 4-0.  Great start.

Again, I was wrong last week, and didn’t mind because I want our Chiefs to be a real contender for the first time since Marty.

    – a one, and a two, and a three and a…four? Doubling down vs the Libs in DC – I like it.

    Kerouac giveth…

“Travis Kelce (who is still over rated until he proves different)”

    – without question

    Kerouac taketh away…

“Kareem Hunt (could be the league’s best)”

    – now you’re just being silly, CG

“This could be the Chiefs year”

    – strike 1

    “Alex Smith’s year”

    – strike 2

    “and Andy Reid’s dream.”

    – a gift certificate Harry’s Hawaiian Shirts and ‘All you can Eat’ Luau?

Superbowl? – strike 3 – will have to wait. We’re good at that here Paris of the Plains, where the only unrepentant sin 2017 has been a Kansas City tradition, since… 1970.

    Wait till next year.

Ouch!! 0-4 w Michigan only winning by 16. Tease almost saved you. Digging quite the hole to start the season. At least your bookie is happy. Well, and Harley/boom boom.

Well like last year slow start so far, lost the Michigan game by 1 point yesterday so lost the college bet, had OSU they won easily. Last week went 0-3 not good. Had this happen last year and ended up having a good season as we got going…its hard early cause you just don’t know if last years teams are as good or not…hard go figure match ups. Takes several games to see whats what. So early if you bet go small…til you feel confident. Like I love the Raiders over the Jets who stink, but two touchdowns is a ton in the NFl so you have to tease it with someone…I think Dallas is real and will handle the Broncos…we will see.

Chiefs could be the ‘hot’ AFC team need to see more..today will be a test with the Eagles who are a maybe post season squad…if KC walks them, then yes they for now are the team to beat in the AFC, with Washington next week a bad team and a likely win for KC…more confidence…I think KC rides with Hunt, if he is the real deal…LOOK OUT…AFC….and with Hill, yikes…hope so…

Most serious betting is done in Vegas where you know you get paid after the game and so do they…hah. Online is slow pay often and sometimes never…remember that is not legal and sometimes they vanish…so big bets are not always a good idea there…betting with pals…o.k. usually not serious money so that works other than arguments later..then there is the legal fantasy football…not my bag but millions love it.

Second game begin, but I won the first one with Az over Indy and Oakland leads early so I think we might win both NFL games and get this party started.

    • CG says:

Opps Dallas sucked to only won one pro game another poor showing by me 1-2 sorry it will get better promise…still some interesting games….changing of the guard somewhat

Seattle looks a bit weak, Pats will be fine but maybe NOT SUPER, Dallas may be cooked in fact Eagles maybe win that division they looked pretty good, Giants need to show something tonight or could be toast too, Oakland for real, Denver oh no looks tough, Steelers are in the hunt…NFC not looking as good as AFC top teams thus far…Green Bay yikes, got walked on, Cam and crew not strong so far…Chiefs are a for real contender to win AFC as of now….need to stay healthy and get Hill,Hunt and Conley more involved..Smith could perhaps get it done if his line protects him better….our D has issues but there are no shut down defenses anymore..so ours might be as good as it gets…Chiefs stay healthy they for the first time under Andy are a super bowl contender.

who said smith was gone? Glaze
who said Pat was the answer? Glaze
who said both were wrong? Boom Boom

    Passer rating:
    Smith: 134
    Pat: 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Glaze end the tease b.s. and lets see who knows football. Or are you afraid boom
    boom will crush you?

    • CG says:

Moron, Chiefs tried trading Smith all summer no takers…hey he is playing well now…lets see what happens…its Pat’s team coming up…a fact…you want to make picks against me each week lets do it chicken.

  6. Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

KSU, KU, & MU all totally humiliated. Mizzou most likely looking at 2-10. Odom is a dead man walking. KU might just be 1-11. Will they give Beaty 2 more years? Just might have to. KSU may miss a bowl game.

Well, college football in KC was nice for a couple weeks. Ok, 1 week.

    • CG says:

Yes its over ‘Guy’ for our area anyways now that even K State stinks…let Vandy beat them…oh boy…KU and MU really stink…

      • Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

Honestly, Vandy may be a little better than we think, and KSU might be a little worse. Wasn’t that long ago that James Franklin (now head coach at Penn State) had Vanderbilt winning 10 games.
