Glazer: Welcome to Loserville…Population, KU, MU, K-State

Oh my gosh, all three area college football teams won last week…

Yep, KU, MU and Kansas State all won – but they all played Shawnee Mission high school calibre teams.

Still, when was the last time that happened?

Look I think KU, who has been one of the all time worst programs in modern college football, is much improved.

However KU is still a national joke until proven otherwise.

Missouri was a true top 20 team for years under Gary Pinkel and even well before him. Kansas State has risen to being considered a “good little ballclub” under Billy Snyder, but has never won a big time game nationally and is still pretty much unkown to most of America as is Snyder…sorry but true.

Only Mizzou has been m uch of a real national contender for being a No. 1 team The BEST shot MU had was back in 1969 season when they faced Penn State for what might have given them the national title. Unfortunately they lost a close one.

To be fair QB Bobby Douglass took Kansas to the brink around that same time. B ut that was decades ago. Since then only Missouri has been a consistent top national team.

In 2007 No. 2 KU played No. 4 MU at Arrowhead in what was called the Border War.

When MU later joined the SEC, most locals thought they would be destroyed.

However the Tigers won their division twice and faced Alabama once for a shot at the big prize. Uh they lost, but at least they were there.

KU has stunk pretty much now for a long time, yes I know the Orange Bowl win. That was it. Then it was bottom feeder time.

Bill Snyder has Kansas State in Big 12 contention year after year but that’s it.

K-State gets low level bowl games every year, but nobody looks at them as a top rated team that matters outside of people who went to school there.

MU has stunk as of late as well. I know the racial issue…I know. What was that all about anyway, please?

OK, so they all won last week. Nice.

On to this week…

This week Kansas and Kansas State play high school teams again.

Even so KU is but a 4.5 point favorite while K-State is a 33 point favorite over Charlotte.

Kansas faces Central Michigan.

MU plays a real team in South Carolina and is also favored by 3 points. Hey, if they all win again it’s another first in years…all three teams 2 and 0.

Celebrate!

Most observers feel Kansas State is a contender for the Big 12 title this year, which is once again just OK and led by OU and OSU again.

Kansas is considered a nothing but hopes to win 3 or 4 games which would be a breakthrough. Joy!

MU is a mystery but could possibly return to a low level bowl game if they can win 6 or 7 games.

So if you aren’t a former student of one of the three this is not going to be an edge of your seat season, huh?

Perhaps Kansas State can really rise above being the cute little team America knows nothing about who has never won a game that mattered. Perhaps. For Kansas and Missouri it’s rebuild time again.

Sorry but that’s way it is.

Well unfortunately yesterdays story came true, only Kansas State won. KU and MU got trashed. Kansas State looked very good, but OU beat Ohio State the numbrer 2 ranked team in America and badly. So OU is for real and K-State will have to climb over both OU and OSU to get into the big dance, uphill. KU looks like a couple wins will be glory and MU has no defense so a low level bowl is gonna be rocky road….K State might be fun to follow but the other two…wait til next year. How bout those Royals? Nah thats over as well. So go Chiefs.

AGAIN GLAZE SHOWS HIS IDIOCY. PINKEL HAD SOME ROUGH EARLY YEARS AND CAME BACK. I’M NOT CRAZY ABOUT ODOM…ESPECIALLY
WHEN MU HAS SO MUCH CASH ON HAND THEY COULD HAVE HIRED
      SABAN.
WHEN WILL THE MU ADMINISTRATION UNDERSTAND HOW TO HIRE COACHES. THEY’VE NOT HAD A DECENT ONE IN DECADES.
SPEND THE MONEY….THERE’S BIG TIME COACHES SITTING ON THE
BENCH AND WATCHING ON TV…..SPEND THE BIG MONEY INSTEAD OF
REPLACING COACHES WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER COACHED
      A WINNER BEFORE.
HOPEFULLY THE BBALL TEAM GOT IT RIGHT…WE’LL SEE.
BUT ODOM WAS NOT THE GUY…AND NOW WITH THEIR RACIAL
PROBLEMS AND IN STATE RECRUIT PROBLEMS IT’S TIME TO GET THE
CHECKBOOK OUT AND PAY SOME SERIOUS MONEY TO A TOP NAME
COACH TO TURN THINGS AROUND QUICKLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought the headline was in reference to you going 0-3 on your picks over the weekend. Ouch! That is really hard to do.

    • CG says:

well that happened old son, its not hard to do though, last year I started off poorly and ended up with a very good season…happens…takes a minute to see who is good and who just isn’t….right…I think a few folks picked New England over KC, but I was glad we won…I was, I didn’t bet much on it…so I could kinda pull for our guys….way it goes….

      • boom boom says:

you ended up a loser glazer and we already discussed this.
You’re a clown when it comes to betting…0-3 which means you
need a huge week before it become impossible to come back.
You tried to trick us again….but you were caught.
You won’t take on BOOM BOOM because you love those
        tourist bet teasers.
Change your ways and we’ll go one on one dude. You can’t
beat Boom Boom because its been 100 times I’ve proved
        you wrong.
Stop the teasers and lets see who knows the world of sports
        betting.
You play with phony baloney….I play the real deal…..now
lets get down to business………or are you still chicken.
You and kerowacky always bet against the chiefs…not smart
        causethey’ll win 12-13 games.
But you’ve got a choice…throw your money away on football or
stash it in some strippers g string. Take the g string….at least you get something for your money.

    • Fake Name Guy says:

Shhh. You’re not supposed to notice. Seven weeks from now he’ll be boasting an 80% win percentage and bragging that he is the greatest handicapper on the planet.

      • CG says:

First off never said I was the greatest handicapper just overall have done well…hey we’ll see how it goes as the season moves on…we had a poor start last year and a great finish…I do post my picks so lets see, when I win nobody comments save Chuck….people only want to hate not say anything good…right.

        • David Nelson says:

Not hating CG. I’ll definitely congratulate when u do well. I will say watching your picks every week over the years reminds me why I don’t bet regularly – it’s almost impossible to come out ahead.

          • CG says:

David betting several games weekly is usually a losing investment…correct, however finding mismatches as season moves forward and betting big on a game or two that way is usually a good one…has been for me…I don’t bet tons of games a week, I give out what I think in picks but don’t always bet them….those are picks….

  3. Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

The first head has rolled at Mizzou, as defensive coordinator DeMontie Cross was fired on Sunday. This was inevitable, and should’ve probably happened in the offseason. Cross was the defensive coordinator in name only. Odom took over the defense and defensive play calling last year. Cross was a linebackers coach, and that’s it. $600,000 is alot to pay a linebackers coach. So he got to play the scapegoat role, which to the unwashed masses might seem like it buys Odom some time. It doesn’t. This defense was Odom’s idea from the jump, so any defensive failings are his fault. Mizzou’s special teams suck too. Jim Sterk stated before the season that he needed to see progress this year. When pressed on what “progress” meant, he clearly stated that 6 wins would be progress. 6 wins just got alot harder for Odom. My prediction? Mizzou fails to get 6 wins, and Odom is fired after 2 years. Unfair? Maybe. But Sterk didn’t hire Odom, and if he wants to keep those 7 figure donations rolling in, and finish the south endzone project, and then fill those shiny new suites with butts in the seats, then he can’t have a losing football program. Sterk WILL fire Odom. Make no mistake, the Mike Alden Era at Mizzou where no one got fired for underperforming, is OVER.

    • CG says:

Nice update ‘Guy’ thank you…yes MU looked horrid Saturday. Hope they improve.

    • boom boom says:

MU has no money problems….600M in the bank to do anything in the sports
department and about 80 million still left in the fund run by the the kc
lawyers. Money is like nothing to the mu athletic department. So stop
b.s.ing GUY WHO SAYS WHAT OTHERS KNOW IS BULLSHIT!

      • Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

Who said MU had money problems? You’re a facking moron Harley. Go back to assaulting your blow up Hillary doll. The point was, it’s a new day at Mizzou with Jim Sterk running the ship. You don’t spends tons of money on the South End Zone Project, to have all the luxury suites and premium seating remain empty because your football program is a loser and can’t draw fans.

        • boom boom says:

they have so much money coming in they can’t count it.
It’s like a casino in columbia.
If they would have fired pinkel during the lean early years we would nevver have had a .750 record against the
          hawks at arrowhead.
they need a consultant….but they took the simple way
          out because of recruiting.
But now…they’re in trouble and need a huge coach to
patch up the problems that started with the protests.
Lets get serious…MU has some tough years ahead…and
money can solve only a few.
Let’s be honest….they haveto spend money to keep
          it coming in…..it’s sitting there.
Maybe they can build a new stadium for the softball
teams…or a golf course for the evans scholar and the
          golf team….
When you have that kind of money…and more just
waiting to come in you gotta do something with it….

  4. David Nelson says:

For Mizzou fans here is most worrisome score from last week: North Dakota 34 . – Missouri State 0.
