Glazer: Scribe Laments Alex Smith, Andy Reid, Lays Down Winners

15113048The Chiefs are as big a dud as Hurricane Matthew was yesterday in Florida…

The season already seems lost and head coach Andy Reid is likely at the end of his coaching days. Reid has had a career similar to Marty Schottenheimer….lots of great regular seasons but no Super Bowls.

The Alex Smith experiment is nearly over as well.

Smith had his moments but in the end he netted only one playoff win and just didn’t have enough talent to take the Chiefs to big dance.

The Chiefs have made a lot of money using up other team’s quarterbacks. No other team in the NFL has dodged developing a young quarterback for nearly half a century.

It’s getting to be about time to look at Nick Foles.

Alex is looking pretty old at 32.

Taking all those hits for sacks over the years seems to have aged him and slowed him down. His passes are off this year more than ever with no long balls. And he no longer runs the ball to get first downs and keep drives going. Maybe he just can’t anymore. So it’s going to be a long fall and winter for all of us in KC regarding football.

brad-stevens-butler-freak-out-marquette-memes-4K-State continues to march towards some type of bowl game – albeit not one that will matter. KU and MU are going nowhere.

The top four teams in college football changed when Clemson defeated the upstart Louisville last week.

Now it’s Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan but they’re all a bit suspect (along with Houston).

COLLEGE PICKS

ARKANSAS OVER ALABAMA +20 in a tease with TENN +15 over TEX AM

PRO PICKS

PITT -1 1/2 OVER JETS IN A TEASE WITH NEW ENGLAND -4 OVER CLEVELAND (that has to be a monster tease in Vegas)

DALLAS +8 OVER CINN IN A TEASE WITH PATS -4 OVER CLEVELAND

MINN -1/2 OVER HOUSTON in a TEASE WITH PITT -1 1/2 over JETS

We’ve been at .500 all season let’s get moving this week….

dollars and the Chinese 2.5 billion and if he doesn’t pay them (which he can’t
do cause the dudes not really abusinessman he just a “brand” it’s bye bye.

dumpster is about to take the big jump.
If you thought those tapes were wild….glazo…you ain’t seen nothing yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Right now wislons favorite electoral prediction site 538 has Hillary at 90% chance
to win….but that was before tape released.
Harley scores the biggest forecast in decades!

  3. Kerouac says:

(Andy) “Reid has had a career similar to Marty Schottenheimer… lots of great regular seasons but no Super Bowls.”

    – Reid has been a Head Coach for 18 years now in the NFL, since the 20th century to be precise… remaining Championship bereft an 21st century world ju$t doesn’t cut it.

Yet, there he is, KC. Allow Kerouac to do the unthinkable – depart from the script his usual tack, offer hope for an decades-long Championship football parched Chiefdom.

Rarely, but every now and then, patience does pay off. ‘If’ but two examples, be major ones: early results of two head coaches providing proof ‘fairy tales can come true it can happen to you’… not necessarily ever will here land of the swiss, but… can dream.

Unlike Schottenheimer and Reid (we can also add George Allen, Bud Grant and Marv Levy to that lot ‘they came, tried and failed’ examples), the following eventually found that ultimate success labeled ‘World Champion’… 6 times between them.

Nod Jeopardy, the category: ‘Famous if at first you fail keep trying head coaches finally found success for $500, Alex.’

A: Retained despite an 0-11-1 first season record – a fireable offense today’s NFL – he produced 4 more losing seasons in a row, then, broke even at .500 year six, good for a 25-53 record. This Houdini moreso Jesus is today a member of the NFL Hall of Fame.

A: Three consecutive losing seasons in a row start his Head Coaching career, four in his first five led to his being fired. Hired elsewhere, he produced yet another losing season, good for a 41-55 record. Today, he is considered among the best coaches NFL history.

Q: Who are Tom Landry and Bill Belichick

2016 compromi$ed NFL, where money talks louder than ever & coaching mediocrity / results means dimini$hing returns, both men would have been fired long before they found such great eventual success.

Back on point the “hope” Kerouac referred to: odds are (whether Championship Head Coach and young franchise QB) that, sooner than later by now, our time will (of dumb luck alone if nothing else) arrive KC. Then again, fandom Lions & Jets would disagree.

“The Chiefs have made a lot of money using up other team’s quarterbacks. No other team in the NFL has dodged developing a young quarterback for nearly half a century.”

    – well, at least we do something better (worse?) than the rest of the NFL, even if it be dubious in nature. While Kerouac is hard at it here, let me say that the Chiefs decision to revert those all-white road uniforms in lieu hideous red pants & the red road-socks in lieu the white they used to wear is, a ‘bea-uuuuutiful thing’ nod the late Bill Grigsby. Now, lose the sleeve stripes, go back to black shoes, old-style face masks and helmets, and lose the 10,000 pieces of logo/advertising smeared all over the uniforms, and it’ll be even better/a good start.
    ~

Now, on to Alex the not so great.

(Smith) “he no longer runs the ball to get first downs and keep drives going. Maybe he just can’t anymore.”

    – the desperation swiss fandom embraces itself… feel your pain, but alas, QB’s too feel same. Whether they run a lot or not at all, find them pain & suffering will, nonetheless.

Examples of those who dare, and pay the price increased jeopardy: ‘famous last words of injured QB’s for $500, Alex’.

See Cam Newton (all 6’5 265 lbs. of him), Andrew Luck his 235/240 just back from repair, let alone pocket passer types a Trevor Siemian, Tony Romo, Carson Palmer. Robert Griffin III down yet again for perhaps the last time afore retirement, Teddy Bridgewater felled his own practice field. All of them fallen, no matter steadfastness theirs in the face of a pass rush or trying to do right via a left cut made on the wrong way/day, any venue.

KC’s Smith is getting older, and odds are he’ll sooner than later fall victim injury as the aforementioned other QB’s whether he runs or stays put. As his legs offer one more (if but a miniscule chance for swiss success), Chiefs must weigh possible rewards vs risks. As this be the swiss we refer to, allow Cioran: ‘What to do and where to go? Do nothing and go nowhere, easy enough.” Chiefs translation – going nowhere fast, damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

    Run.

    Or don’t.

    7-9

Coming off another correct swiss prediction, now a perfect 4-0 on the season, Kerouac predicts the swiss will escape defeat this weekend. Not to worry, return they shall one week hence their continued advance onward if not forward, journey to Oakland.

    RAIDERS 35,000
    swiss chiefs .0009

  4. chuck says:

I luv ya Glaze, but I hope the NFL goes out of business.

This from Sporting News, Michael McCarthy.

“The Colin Kaepernick-led player protests may be hurting the NFL broadcast networks where its hurts them the most: in the pocketbook.

With NFL TV ratings plunging by double-digits over the first quarter of the 2016 season, some NFL TV networks are being forced to provide so-called “make-goods” to advertisers, media sources tell Sporting News.

When ad agencies buy commercial time on NFL partner TV networks, they’re promised certain numbers in terms of ratings and audiences. If the game fails to reach those numbers, the networks have to “make good” for the audience shortfall by providing the equivalent of free commercial time.”

There are many such opinions and articles out there that say the . The Players, Management and Ownership have, for the most part, agreed to politicize the NFL and support BLM and a second rate QB with a scatter arm and diminishing speed up the field. Makes sense to me. It really does. ESPN and the NFL has always sported Progressive Politics. Fines and suspensions for Brady and Beckham, while giving a pass to violence and anti-American protest.

It is time, to turn off the NFL.

    • chuckles/chucklet/chuckie the insane clown/chuck chuck bo buck/

There are many reasons the nfl ratings have been down.

      1. Oversaturation: just too many games old man. We once had sundays
and Monday nights. then they added Thursday nights. Then they added
the nfl network/fox etc. Then the tv networks (both network and cable)
added dozens of college games on every sports tv channel…
leagues and teams like texas added their own networks…literally games
on over 10 channels thruout the week. Way too many games which
sliced the pie up and gave college and pro football oversaturation. Too many
games…audience being cut into smaller pieces……football just over did
      it with televised games.

      2. MEDIA VEHICLES: now you can watch every game…more people
are watching nfl games on streaming/smart phones/there’s more cord
cutting and items like amazon fire stick/people pirating stations that
carry the games and many of these never registered with the ratings
for a game. So with more ways to watch a game…the ratings were bound
to go down….people switching from regular tv to other media vehicles
especially online and on their phones which never show on the
ratings. DVR viewing of games also became bigger and based on when
the game was viewed that too affected the ratings. Again, the nfl probably
saw the changing media landscape and wanted mor money so they
went with the audience. Now you see people watching games on their
cells while working out….it’s huge and that too contributed to the
      lessening of the viewership.

      3. Yes the election of Hillary as madame president affected viewership.
The first debate went up against nfl game and it killed the viewership
of the game at the same time. You picked the loser (again) and I’m
sure people’s interest this time of year was directed to the election
of Hillary Clinton as madame president and I’m sure the disgusting
liar dumpster played a huge part in people’s attention to football.

      4. BASEBALL PLAYOFFS: Look at who’s in the baseball playoffs this
season. Chicago/Boston…all of them are in major markets competing
      for viewership. Washington/Baltimore market/Dallas (texas)/
all these teams have big market viewerships and are competing for
viewers right now. Makes a huge difference especially when all these
teams are in major regional markets and are probably taking away
      viewership from nfl games.

So cutting and pasting an article shows you don’t have any insight
into the real facts. I have shown that all of the people on kcc never
really can analyze a situation. Yes football numbers are down…and remember
we’ve had some incredible weather (up til Mathew) throughout the nation
      which also affects ratings.
Once baseball is over….Hillary reaches her 320 plus electoral votes….the
weather turns colder and people are inside more….I think you’ll see these
      ratings go up.
Kapernick is so much of a non story now. shortlived..and only the
race baiters really still give a crap about that story. It lasted it’s
2-3 weeks then America got on with life.
Many factors involved….and your belief that people still care about the
national anthem story is only further proof that you and wislon and
glazo just have no pulse on the real world.
Have fun. You now don’t have to worry about not getting into bed by
9pm on election night. Hillary should have everything locked up
by then and all you old guys can be in bed knowing you lost by
      9 oclock!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha!

    • JP says:

      YES!

Viewers, take a knee and change the channel.

The NFL took action to block a decal honoring the police
      http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2016/08/12/nfl-denies-cowboys-request-to-wear-decal-honoring-fallen-dallas-officers.html

And they push other causes like breast cancer awareness. So they can allow or block anything they want. The players and the NFL don’t want to honor the national anthem? Fine. I don’t want to honor them. There are a lot of better ways to spend a Sunday!

  5. chuck says:

    “…say the same thing.”

    oops

  6. CG says:

CHUCK lots of unhappy folks out there today on both sides of the line…black and white. Its not something we can solve overnight or in a few years. You have a game dominated by minority players and their feelings right or wrong. The fan base is white and they have the money…he who has the pascoes has the say so’s…

I have no answer but time…yes the NFL like entertainment these days is being spread thin and viewers are starting to be a big less enchanted…I agree…I have many friends who are getting burnt out….too many games with college ball I mean like 20 a Saturday on TV then comes all day NFL and the weekday night games…its a bit much and there are no favorite sons…its a world of haves and have nots and hate.

  7. CG says:

As for Trump comments…hey the guy was THE star of the world for a year…is anyone surprised he was a playboy and slept around????!! come on…the media loved him for what they needed now they are done with that ”””Donald Trump”””” its back to reality tv star Donald…president Hillary…and on and on…doesn’t matter if she is caring or will try and do anything for her people…she just wants to be prez…he really would have tried…no doubt…now we will never know…yes its over…the media and he Clinton machine gunned him down…he didn’t help matters.

    • NO loser glazo.
The media didn’t gun him down…he took himself down.
Is anyone surprised he was a star and slept around?
      Duh glazo.
Put another huge notch on the tree for the loser.
      You picked another loser.
Stop crying old boy. Harley reigns and Harley got it right 15 months
      in advance.
Yes…we will never know about trump.
But we know for sure you picked another loser.

    • chuck says:

A sports analogy if you please.

Fighting the 4th Estate is like fighting Aaron Pryor in his prime. The guy just punched and punched and punched and punched with the help of illegal drugs and one sided judges in and out of the ring.

It’s a relentless assault from a mendacious, Progressive, monolith that encompasses entertainment, education, government, unions and career politicians who all have the sympathetic, symbiotic ear of a corrupt and pernicious press.

Fighting Arron Pryor was like fighting 6 boxers, who tag teamed each other every round. Trump and the 3rd Estate never had a chance against Pryor and the 4th Estate.

  8. Hey glazo…..
Trump and his “African American” Ben Carson say they expect more bombshells
    to come out about trump.
Remember as you move to the Hollywood glamour and glitz of Kansas city
Kansas that Harley predicted this 15 months ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And you said “TRUMPS THE MAN”…….HAHAHAHAHAHA@
    I’m sure there’s more……
    Remember Harley is clairvoyant!

  9. Harry Balczak says:

Replace Mitch Holthus. His act and the rest of the game presentation schtick that was dreamed up in the early 90s by Carl Peterson…it’s beyond stale. That was 25years ago.

    • CG says:

In tim we are all ‘past it’ happens to everyone…as we age we are ‘in the way’ to the younger folks coming up behind us and they don’t like that…I should know..hah.

I’ve Mitch a few times, he came to a couple shows with his family, nice guy….seems like just a few years ago he was ‘the new kid’ now he’s the old voice of a team that never had much success under his watch so he isn’t a loved voice like Lenny and Bill were….

I’m sure in the next few years with a new everything from head coach, staff, players and maybe a contender at some point there will be an entirely new broadcast team…

look at 610 vs. 810 a couple years ago I wrote how these young guys would take over from KK and Petro and crew…now because 810 wasn’t good, they were, time just eventually takes you down at some point…we are new, we rise, we are on fire, we are over rated, we are doing the same thing over and over, we are past it, we are ‘who are those guys’ way it is with life…..not fair after all the work we do to get there but its the way it goes.

      • Kerouac says:

“time just eventually takes you down at some point”

        – and never lets you up case the Chiefs… no replacing that was lost. Case the young players /teams middle 1960’s, became old early 70’s and have yet recapture an former level of greatness.

Out with the old and in with the new, and youth must be served!

Fate answered Red Sox prayers, Cubs perhaps soon too, leaving the Lions, Jets & both sports franchises city of Cleveland ahead of us, at minimum; nod Tom Bodet, “we’ll leave the lights on for you.”

Hank Stram: “you can’t just order up world class athletes as if they were an sandwich.” The cupboard was bare by 1974 aft a short stay the top: 50 years since their ascent 1966, 47 since a singular shining moment 1/11/70 & more than 40 since Hank’s demise HC, fandom still waiting for the former level of success.

Sad truth appears be that, shy having Hunt’s resource$, talent man Don Klosterman’s knack & the advantage separate drafts AFL/NFL in the 1960’s which allowed the Chiefs outbid rather than be superior were there equal footing with their opponents (oh, and shy the one-year only special wild card format allowed KC even enter post season January of 1970), Chiefs would have NEVER won a Championship.

Former Chiefs HC Schottenheimer was fond of referring luck as ‘the residue of design’; Marty was good with platitudes… not so much football results afield. Better, Vince Lombardi’s use of the quote “Winning isn’t everything; it’s the only thing.” Vince did.

“(Holtus) isn’t a loved voice like Lenny and Bill were”

        – nor were Harlan, Larrivee and the army of other broadcasters followed Tom Hedrick, latter still best ever my subjective opine. Same as those Chiefs football forefathers afield, poor substitutes have followed them. Where did success go? Same place Hedrick went: on to other teams, leaving us but memories good old days.

Like trying to develop a good young QB, Chiefs have been trying to replace (now Professor) Hedrick, since 1970. He, as Grigsby, epitomized youth (Tom mid 30’s when debuted ’64, as Bill early 40’s his start with the Chiefs 1963.)

#1 QB’s drafted? Aft Pete Beathard (who played in Superbowl 1 for us, was traded and led HOU to post season more than once) & Mike Livingston (who filled in for Dawson ’69), a seeming cast of thousands included #1 picks Fuller & Blackledge came, tried and faltered; like father (Chiefs), like son (young franchise QB); think about it, nod ‘stop smoking’ vintage cigarette commercial.

Fandom needs to stop smoking the bitter stogies nee counterfeit football Chiefs ownership has been providing, ad nauseam. Soon, a new recycled marketing slogan, HC and GM to come to cure all and will suffice… it always does/has. And while you’re being held hostage to the threat that they ‘might’ move the team out of KC, ask the billionaire$ why they have STILL not put an rolling roof on Arrowhead Stadium, which they planned back in 1967. That future Superbowl in KC? Something about a bridge in Brooklyn.

Meanwhile, Denver is working their way toward an 4th ‘World Championship’ same as Raiders, both accomplishing said since KC’s last and only 1970 (even the Chargers were a Superbowl team since Chiefs were even sniffing distance, January 1994.)

‘Gloom, despair and agony KC, deep, dark depression, excessive misery, if it weren’t for bad luck, we’d have no luck at all, gloom, despair, and agony KC.’

Hee Haw. Joke’s on us. Takes a ‘special’ type of incompetence and willing fools (‘bad luck’ the apologist purview) to wallow in mediocrity for nigh on half an century, put a feather your cap and tell the masses its good for ‘them’, nee macaroni.

Take us out, Bennett: ‘Gray skies are gonna clear up put on a happy face, brush off the clouds and cheer up put on a happy face’…

        🙂

        🙁

        • Orphan of the Road says:

Perhaps KC and San Diego can play each other 16 times a year?

At least KC fans can cling to their god, guns, religion and one Super Bowl victory. Extra credit for being when it meant something?

  10. CG says:

Good start with college we got both games and are 1-0 lets see if we can do well today.

  11. CG says:

Man is it tough out there, HOUSTON GETS TAKEN DOWN BY NAVY…wow what an upset. I saw Houston as most did as a possible final four team…they are goners now for that finish….Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan are now tops with Ohio State having a big of trouble with a doggie Saturday… Clemson and Washington are now in the top 5…there are others lurking like LSU and even Texas Tech…its a long season that goes QUICK.

Bama is hard to look past in the end, that coach is just the best. When he is gone and Alabama isn’t a top dog anymore it will feel strange….they are today’s Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC and more…a constant in a sea of change.

  12. CG says:

WOW nice picks finally 3-0 so far and I had to pick 7 different games to get there won them all with the tease…1 left for a perfect day, DALLAS we already won the other game..so that would move us to 5 over .500 decent. For the season all my calls are online here so anyone can check…

  13. CG says:

Lookin good need a Dallas cover to win them all!!!!!

    • you blew the biggest pick ever.
those phony teasers will cost you big money as they have for 4 years..you’re still about 30%.
but Harley whipped you in the “election of the century”.
Hows that dumpster thing working out for you glazo?

  14. CG says:

    Won every game!! Nice

    • paulwilsonkc says:

I bet that’s because you emailed law4life1million@yahoo.com and got all of Harley’s hot tips and forecasts, right?

      • CG says:

Paul I don’t know who he really is and what he does…I know he has upset several who write stories on kcc. Harley is a blend of several types who comment on blogs and sites like this one. Some are hateful, some are kind and some are just insane. Why? Who knows. He’s not alone out there. Hearne is checking his comments a bit closer these days, but sometimes he misses one or two. Nothing I can do bout it really.

It’s ok to be funny or poke fun at our stories, but too get into ones personal life and say mean and horrible things often not true, that’s where its wrong.

I’ve been writing on this site for years. I am often reminded of that fact I challenged some comment people…BUT, only after they continued to attack me and for no real reason. I NEVER wrote a story to put anyone down in KC or anywhere else for that matter. So all the hate came from some people who just like to hate.

So like you sometimes I think why put myself out there for abuse. I’m sure you have felt that way. I remember when you and I were cross over nothing. I’m sure you are a good guy. Glad that ended. I really don’t dislike or hate many people. Everyone has an opinion. We post ours here. I try and do sports, entertainment, personal fun stories and now the presidential race. We often don’t agree and comments saying so are fine, but the hate isn’t right. I’m sure some comes from people who think we have an easy go…or are bragging…or change our minds too often…all that. Such is life.

I believe most of the readers and writers here are middle aged or more. We’ve all lived most of our lives already and found there is much sadness and some joy along the way….that we all have in common.

        • paulwilsonkc says:

          • come on glazo….as always you cry the blues.
I have always been your biggest supporter.
But if we discuss sports or politics its fair
game for you. You come on here and post
picks or stories that are categorically full of
            bull and Harley challenges you.
It is fun…maybe not for you…..but you
put yourself in the line of fire with your
            stories.
Kerowacky slices and dices you up worse than
            anyone.
Iget rude comments…but they do not pertain
            t0 what I write..simply personal insults…which
to be honest are no big dealto me.
If you can’t take the heat of critiquing what
you write on here….based on strictly the
facts (which I always present) then get out of
            kitchen.
You write negative stories about the chiefs
and royals which were way off base. So why
shouldn’t a fan of these teams take your
            information which is categorically wrong
and prove that you really have no knowledge
            of what you’re talking about.
I do not attack your family (although I know about them) and I always include facts.
The truth is your skin is thinner than Donald
trumps. YOu have wanted to fight your
            adversaries…not me.
You write these ridiculous opinion pieces
and I disagree and prove point by point
            that you are wrong.
And time and time again..I prove you and
            others wrong!
Sorry…get a thicker skin or go write for the
pitch where the readers really can’t prove
            you wrong.
Sorry…you present yourself as an expert when
            in reality you know nothing!
            Your pieces have nofacts/no reasoning.
I have to give kerowacky credit…even though
he’s wrong 90% of the time,,, he does have
some facts/stats/history etc. that may prove his
            point.
You wrote that dumpster was going to win..
and over 15months ago I predicted a huge
win for Hillary. You wrote some of the worst
stories on politics I’ve read. And they were
not only wrong but were so devoid of facts
that I constantly proved you wrong…and now
in 30 days you will look like a loser for writing
the junk you put out in public.
I even wrote a piece based on my successful
business experience (plus some fun facts)
how to improve your business because obvisouly
things didn’t work out as you hoped they would
in Overland Park. And if you read it…those itens
are what’s really happening in joco.
Get off your throne. If you can’t take the
            criticisms of your piece…move on.
You are not qualified to be writing about sports
or politics. If you have facts to back up your
            claims that would be different.
And let me remind you again…
AUGUST 2015 HARLEY WROTE ABOUT THIS
            VERY IMPORTANT ELECTION.
AND HE IS 1000% RIGHT…HIS COMMMENTS
AND STATEMENTS CAME TRUE WHEN NOT
A SINGLE EXPERT OR PUNDIT WAS PREDICTING THIS HUGE WIN.
I AM GETTING TIRED OF BEING RIGHT
            ALL THE TIME.
            It does get old.
I AM USED TO BEING A WINNER ALL THE
            TIME!
            that doesn’t get old.
But yes this is for fun and entertainment
            as I havealwayssaid…
So stop writing if you are so thin skinned.
            BECAUSE HARLEY KNOWS ALL!!!!
HARLEY KNOWS A LOT MORE THAN HE
            WRITES ABOUT.
SO LET ME PUT IT SIMPLE…
get a thicker skin or go play with the deplorables!
            Have agreat day boys….
            Your friend
            HARLEY THE MIDAS TOUGH MAGNIFICENT!

oh and how’s that trump story looking right
now glazo? You wrote he was going to win.
Good thing you didn’t fall in my trap of betting
10K because you would have LOST!

  15. Rainbow Man says:

We have no star power. Jamaal is a bench warmer… not a star. If we lose this week we will not make the playoffs.

  16. Frank says:

Good news Glaze. Your stories on Sonny Landham are finally getting some well deserved publicity online. The country is starting to taking notice.

  17. bro line the official betting line of bros everywhere says:
