Glazer:Scribe Saddles Up for Week 3 Football Follies

medieval-scribeWell, we’ve identified the NFL’s top teams after just two weeks. Denver, Pittsburgh and New England. In the secondary slots there are many, including Panthers, Oakland, KC, Dallas – and too many to name.

The Chiefs are looking to be a team that will battle for a wild card and nothing more.

Shocker.

Many, including me, saw a very good Chiefs offense with a question at defense. Unfortunately the offense has been terrible and the D up and down.

The Chiefs at home should win a close one over the not-so-great New York Jets.

I’d say 23-14 Chiefs.

a0e2455d73d61b2de3897931fe22ff0aHey, we now have two area teams that well could be in a post season bowl game.

MU in the SEC has played much better than expected and could win 6 or 7 games. K State in the weak Big 12 also could win 7,8 or more for a bowl spot. No Final Fours or even close for these guys. KU better but still a stinker.

Here are the predictions I’m at .500 so far…let’s pick it up this weekend.

BET OF THE WEEK COLLEGE

ARMY -13 1/2 over Buffs…THIS IS BEST BET

MICHIGAN -11 AND ARMY – 7 1/2 IN A TEASE

OSU +9 over Baylor

PROS

DENVER +9 OVER CINN IN A TEASE WITH DETROIT +13 OVER GREEN BAY

DALLAS -1 OVER CHICAGO IN A TEASE WITH DETROIT +13 over Green Bay.

“Well, we’ve identified the NFL’s top teams after just two weeks.”

    – and for the 47th consecutive season, one that is not…

    “Denver, Pittsburgh and New England.”

    – toast to a trend: 22 Superbowl appearances among them the 49 Superbowl’s total; some things never change (1/11/1970). Add in the 49ers 6 and the Raiders, Packers, Dolphins, Giants and Redskins 5 each for 31 more, and we discover that 9 teams are responsible for more than half (53) the 98 opponents matched since inception 1967.

“In the secondary slots there are many including Panthers, Oakland, KC, Dallas – and too many to name.”

    – of many mansions in the Father’s house: in the NFL there are many pretenders – if it were not so, would not reprove it every autumn. Once more, we go prepare an epitaph for them: ‘wait till next year, part 2017, verse 48’, amen.

    “Shocker.”

    – my mother told me to pick the very best one and Chiefs are not it…

“The Chiefs are looking to be a team that will battle for a wild card and nothing more.”

    – “Your logic is, as usual, inescapable.” – Captain Kirk to Science Officer Spock

“Many, including me, saw a very good Chiefs offense with a question at defense. ”

    – Matthew’s football God said it thus, 22:14: “many are invited, but few are chosen.”

    “Unfortunately”

    – we have seen the enemy, and it is us (Star Trek ‘The Enemy Within’)

“the offense has been terrible and the D up and down.”

    – on the bright side, local overhype the special teams continues unabated: Santos the NFL’s greatest kicker (as he sky points aft an field goal, then proceeds shank kickoff leading to opposition points), Tyweak greatest returner (nevermind those assists via illegal blocks) and Colquitt the greatest punter (20th gross, 17th net, his specialty)…

“The Chiefs at home should win a close one over the not-so-great New York Jets.”

    – as the Jets (1968) and the equally not-so-great swiss (1969) continue gain ground on/try and pass the Lions (1957) for the most dubious NFL bragging right…

    “I’d say 23-14 Chiefs.”

  3. Phaedrus says:

I don’t know if Army’s JV beat the “Buffs” (Colorado?), but the varsity lost to the Buffalo Bulls today. Hope you didn’t lose too much money..

  4. Harry Balczak says:

Sooooooooo I guess I can safely bet on the Jets today now that the jinx has been applied

    • I hope not harry. I am a huge chiefs fan and hope and believe
they can win today at home.
Will be in the alumni tent with the always great Oscar polk before
      the game.
But regardless…one game does not make a season.
I just invested thousands of dollars in the chiefs…so I hope they
      bring home a win.
It’s just that Harley is right again and no one has figured out how to
handle Harley. I am point on.
Even hearne can’t figure it out. I have been right on more subjects
than anyone on this blog. Even though there’s really 6 or 7 people
who comment…Harley receives email every day telling him that “he was
      right”…
now hearne censors Harley because Harley knows more than anyone.
He keeps making Harley’s comments wait for his approval.
Well hearne….I am killing it on Red State/Daily Kos/Talking points
memo…and I Hope to be included in the biggest blog with articles that
      are on target.
Glaze has no idea what he’s talking about. I own this guy and have free
      space in his head.
He’s so mixed up his comments are not even close to correct but are
      borderline insane.
Kerowacky does a better job of literally ripping glaze line by line…….
I just call him a jinx. Stupidity reigns with this guy.
And it’s nothing personal but hearne has to protect his buddies because
      Harley knows the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Without hearne these old boys would be toast.
      go chiefs.
      I’m with her!
      go royals (2017)

  5. CG says:

Boy you guys are right I sucked yesterday, damn Army killed me, I was led to believe ‘bet of the week’ after they trounced UTEP last week and were playing an even worse team here…and then they not only don’t cover but lose the game. Oh well…what can you do. Michigan looks like the real deal..lesson learned bet on the best teams…hell take the money lines and just win a small percentage…better than losing…hah…now the pros today are even harder…right.

  6. CG says:

Well looks like pros might save my week to be o.k. at 2-3 and keep us at near .500 hey nobody is picking these tough ones…the NFL is insane.

  7. Kerouac says:

    Football Sunday Recap

Football’s finest and the pride of the AFC West THE ‘World Champion’ Denver Broncos continued running away with the division & likely defense of their World Championship 2016, dominating the Bengals in Cincinnati as rookie QB Trevor Siemian threw 4 more td passes & has now moved to the head of the class – best QB in the AFC West aft only 3 games and still getting better by the week/game, another Unitas/Warner the offing, appears.

Second place OAK continues to impress & won again behind the second best QB Carr, while the injury-ravaged 3rd place Chargers & QB Rivers took the Colts to the wire in Indy before succumbing to their mounting injuries.

Bringing up the rear, the swiss with yet another underwhelming performance today. After both the Chargers and Texans wiped up the field with the local 53, gratuitous gifts given them courtesy the superior Jets allowed the former escape. Despite eight turnovers, unforced errors Jets own making, the swiss could produce only 24 points, none due their own effort; ‘wait till next year, part 2017, verse 48’ right on schedule.

Aft three weeks, the AFC West is just as Kerouac predicted:

    1 BRONCOS
    2 Raiders
    3 Chargers
    4 swiss

    Game recap’low-lites:

    * 8 unforced errors by the Jets provided KC’s gift scores (the swiss couldn’t get a thing going on offense all day). 21 points given away by the Jets and left another (at least) 21 theirs unrequited: true final score Jets 24 swiss 3. The swiss greatly benefited from an injured NY WR Marshall, who still managed to beat Peters. An under-throw by the Jet QB also left yet another long td pass over Toast, instead incomplete.

    * The “best RB group in the NFL” according local KC delusion was held to 75 yards and a limp 2.7 per average – that’s LJ type production. New over- hype & ‘fumbler deluxe’ Ware ( “I can’t remember the last time I fumbled”) lost his second in as many games. At least now he won’t have trouble remembering… his last…two… fumbles… both lost.

    * Tyweak Hill, who local media have been proclaiming (with no merit whatsoever) as the swiss ‘new superstar’ since training camp & anointed him “Chiefs new playmaker” produced another nothing game: talk is indeed cheap as a robust -3 yards rushing, an awesome 24 yards combined returning punts/kicks (a 10 yard kickoff return average in which he went backwards in an apparent attempt mimic Dee Ford in run defense, provided the guffaws. The new “deep threat” also added a big 26 yards on 3 catches, for an 8.7 average (note: said ‘may’ appear more the stuff a possession type receiver, but don’t let that fool you… he’s a superstar alright, the greatest return man and wide receiver in the NFL; read/heard it local KC media/fandom.

Next week, on to PITT for another shellacking by the Steelers, while ‘World Champion’ Denver may run the table regular season, as 16-0 looks possible now.

    🙂

  8. CG says:

After sucking in college games we won both pro games so we are just one under .500 for the season thus far…

  9. CG says:

By the way anyone is invited to make picks on Friday as I do… its much harder than it looks against the spread. So have at…lets see if anyone out there can ‘get er done’ better. Some tried before a few years ago and none did well…if it were easy the pro pickers online would be rich…they miss a ton…check out CBS EXPERT PICKS see their records…
