Glazer: No Need to Worry About Royals Making Playoffs

hi-res-3551287b6bba779e0f799fa2a39501ca_crop_northOK, we all know that the Cleveland Indians are on fire…

The team won 14 in a row. Not only that they are 19 games over .500 and have a 7 game lead over the Royals. However, the Royals still have more overall talent and they match up well with Cleveland. They’re just a superior ball club at the plate, on defense and yes, overall in pitching.

That means the Royals can catch the Indians.

If not a wild card berth is likely.

The Royals have faced most of the top teams in the American League and nobody looks better than the Royals.

Baltimore looks just above average, Boston not so hot and the Blue Jays have struggled. Only the Texas Rangers might be a killer squad. But don’t forget about the Houston Astros who had a strong last month and are in position to compete at least for a wild card with KC.

Nobody in baseball has a middle lineup like the Royals.

Eric Hosmer is batting .305 with 12 homers and 48 RBI’s; Lorenzo Cain is hitting .290 with 8 homers; Sal Perez has 12 homers and a .286 batting average; then comes Kendrys Morales who is on fire on fire.

Want more?

UnknownRookie sensation Whit Merrifield  is batting .311. And how about our new 3rd baseman, Chesler Cuthbert batting .264 with 7 home runs. Nice.

We all know pitching is the key and our starters have been inconsistent.

However when they all play they’re one of baseballs best four with Ian Kennedy, Danny Duffy, Edison Volquez and Ace Ventura.

Yes, all but Duffy are over 4.00 ERA but I think they will calm down and get it right after the All-Star break. And Wade Davis is baseball’s best closer.

This year we have another team in our division that’s a contender, the Indians.  Last year we didn’t.

Maybe it will keep these Royals sharper all year chasing Cleveland.

In the end KC is clearly a playoff caliber team…injuries have hurt them a bit, but all teams have them.

Look for KC to have a better second half and play in October for a shot a third World Series run.

better figure out how to win on the road, or we’ll just barely squeak in… if at all. july is moving month, just like Saturday is moving day in golf. royals need to close the gap between them and Cleveland.

    • CG says:

Agreed I wrote this before the holiday and Hearne was off so it went up today. Since then we lost both games to Toronto…with Cain out, now ‘Ace’ might be injured, some more issues…however I still the Royals in the top five teams in the AL. This thing may come down to the last few days of the season as to who gets in or not…No runaway like last year…so hold on to your hat.

  2. CG says:

And yes KC needs to find another pitcher for the starting rotation. That would be a big help.

WHAT….2 CROWS FOR GLAZA IN ONE DAY.
I’m going on alt. 69 and looking for possum roadkill for glaza to eat.
Look for OVERLAND PARK PARKS AND REC TRUCK in front of your
comedy store. It’ll be just like Papa Johns Pizza….delivered hot and fresh
      to your front door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      hahahahahahaha!

Luv ya glaza but Harley’s win streak continues…just like it did at
      argosy Saturday nite!

      • CG says:

Not so fast…they ain’t won anything this year yet!!!! now Davis on DL its adding up … we’ll see.

        • Harley says:

you’ve only changed you mind like 100 times on the
          royals.
When you said they were done I proved you wrong and
          they went 6-1.
Now write they are going to lose. It seems to work and
          they go on a streak.
Lots of injuries and crazy situations have cost them.
I never predicted they’d win it all…saw them in
surprise and they just weren’t as focused as the
previous year. Winning it all may have taken the
          push away that they needed.
          Losing moose….volquez problems….bullpen with some
problems….hitting less….its tough to repeat but your
story had them out a month into the season.
The possum is on the way. It’s prime and should
arrive at your store real soon.
Throw some mountain dew on it and it’ll taste
          like chicken! hahahahahaha!
And send a slab of those dr. pepper ribs. Heard they
were excellent along with flower pot bread.
Your boy hearne tore the bread down but hearn’e
is used to eating at denny’s in Topeka these days.
          have fun….
          Harley
and stop those you tube videos. You’ll never be able to run for public office if those get out into the public.
          GLAZA/HEARNE 2020!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
