The Kansas City Royals have proven THEY ARE LAST YEAR’S ROYALS…
Down early in the season by seven games to the Chicago White Sox and looking lost, the Royals have found themselves and then some. Just three weeks later, they’re in first place with a sweep of the White Sox at home and three straight come from behind late inning wins.
Wow!
Once again the team to beat in the American League is Kansas City.
We all had our doubts a few weeks ago. How could we not?
The Moose is out for the season. Alex Gordon is on the DL. And now Sal Perez is hurt.
But it doesn’t matter, the Royals called up three young players, Cheslor Cuthbert, Brett Eibner and Whit Merriefield and – Oh, my God – they look like three potential All Stars already.
In fact Eibner had two hits in the ninth inning the other day to lead the Royals to a 7 run, bottom of the ninth inning comeback, including the game winning final hit. He’s batting over .400 early, Whit is near .400 and now Palo Orlando is red hot hitting near .400.
Eric Hosmer is clearly the superstar of the Royals and team leader.
Hosmer has nine homers and finally will go over 20 for the season and likely enter into MVP talk for the American League if he continues. He’s also batting .315 with 30 RBI’s. Lorenzo Cain is on fire with seven homers and getting his average back up towards .300. Perez got hurt but will be back soon and he too is on fire with seven homers.
Brett Eibner
The Royals have turned it all around in a hurry.
They are 7-3 in their last 10 games. It also helps that really nobody in their division is a strong team.
And now that we have seen the entire division, only KC has the talent to compete for another run at a title. Chicago is just OK, no real strong hitting attack, decent pitching but the Royals have their number. The Indians are aging and so are the Tigers. The Twins were suppose to contend but as of today are baseball’s worst.
Yes, I was starting to think the team had lost its edge and was in trouble.
Even then however, I said they would worst case be a wild card. Not now. They are the real deal. You can plan on the post season again.
And hey, how about that Brett Eibner?
Not only can Eibner hit, he might be MLB’s best looking player.
Be careful Eric Hosmer, now the ladies have many reasons to go watch the Royals besides their being a great team.
They’re a team of hotties – Oh, my!
I’m sure there will be some more ups and downs but I look for this team to have over 90 wins, and easily win the division.
I was dead wrong.
Ned Yost and the Royals had some bullets in the minors and this team may be very good for years to come even if they lose a couple guys.

Eisner is a guy who used to be CEO of Disney.
Uh I never ever wrote Eisner, Hearne made that little error and I see why, Eisner bought the rights to KING OF STING…so we had several stories on the Eisners…easy error.

I had dinner Saturday night at Stanford’s and ordered the Dr. Prpper ribs and – THEY WERE EXCELLENT! My date said her meal was top notch as well. And wildly inexpensive!!!

Mike Moustakas is out for the season with a torn ACL — He was on the 15 Day DL earlier in the season for a broken thumb.
Alex Gordon has a broken scaphoid in his wrist.

one other thought is that Merrifield, Eibner and Butera are – SO FAR – filling in nicely. and they do give you hope. but keep in mind they’ve only been ‘up’ for a few games. very small sample size. we don’t really know how good (or not good) they can be. I’d say manage your expectations; winning the division isn’t a lock just because we showed some remarkable grit in those come-from-behind wins. remember — we couldn’t hit their starters.
just stay focused on winning series’ and keep losing teams losing and the post-season will take care of itself.
but damn sure fun.
LET ME EXPLAIN BASEBALL STRATEGY TO YOU MIKEY:
because glaza has no idea how to work a game and why the royals won
those 3 games.
Starters today get very few complete games. That means they usually get to
pitch maybe 90 pitches/100 pitches….sometimes as many as 120pitches
per game. then they turn the game over to middle reliever and then the
closer.
However pitchers like sale go maybe 7 innings before pulled and mid
relivers come into eat up innings. Remember…when sale left sox were
up 2 runs. So the royals strategy is to run up pitch counts….get the
pitcher to throw those high numbers and get into the opponents bullpen.
If you can do that consistently you will win games.
So the royals get to the sox bullpen which I believe was right behind
kc in rbi average.
So royals get the closer for sox and hit him for 7 runs nd win the game.
And they get the heart of their order up usually twice against those relievers so they get to know how they pitch.
Royals usually get to see a starter 3 times per game….and the more times
they see them (especially early inseason) the better theyhit against
them.
So the royals never give up. they just don’t know how to lose.
they’re in thezone right now. Nothing can stop them….even injuries to their
top 3 players!!!!
So while glaza is playing with his ___________ thinking he knows
baseball…he’s wrong again.

Once again the story is the story…. The Royals are playing well. Remember I cover whats going on NOW. They were playing like crap, everyone agreed 7 games back,cold bats, poor starting pitching and looking unenthused…now they are on it…that’s the story. It’s not a prediction its whats going on. The new guys are playing well, the division is weak and its the Royals to take. Simple as that. As for a few errors, I guess in redoing the story a bit Hearne got in a hurry and made a few errors it happens. Not the end of the world. I know a few people like to jump in and make THAT the issue.

You live in the moment too much. What’s true today, may not be true tomorrow. You’re sports takes are much like the Wall Street traders that simply bend which ever way the wind blows. You know, the same guys losing their ass on oil prices cause they thought it was going to stay at $100 per barrel forever just because it had been that way for awhile. Suddenly, all the new fracking technology came online, and oil took a giant crap. The same reason I wasn’t worried when the Royals were 7 games back, is the same reason I’m not going to call the race as over in the next month. It’s a LOOOOOOONG season.
It is..and injuries could take the Royals down. However their division is so weak and they just have way too much young talent..nobody else has that and backups as well…Houston does to some extent but not the offense and no Wade Davis and not in Royals division. Again Cleveland and Tigers aging and window not open, Sox just don’t have enough..you’ve seen them. Twins well…so its the Royals even if they only won like 88 games…you are right anything can happen, but they are in a groove and will be there most of the year…I think. By the way when things were bad I didn’t count them out for the same reason..no challengers…and the Royals do have that young talent…Cain and Hosmer are just killers now…
