Jack Goes Confidential: ‘London Has Fallen’—So Has The Acting

londonhasfallen-xlargeWas there REALLY any good reason for a sequel to OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN?

The 2013 action-thriller grossed just under $100 million domestically and did another $51.1 million at the international box office—not to mention $35 million in the domestic video market.

Yeah, that’s the ticket!

So what we’ve got here with LONDON HAS FALLEN is the re-teaming of Aaron Eckhart as the U.S. President with Gerard Butler playing the head of security.

The timely premise moves the setting to London where the British Prime Minister has suddenly died and the world’s most powerful leaders are about to attend his funeral on short notice.

The event now becomes prime target of a middle-Eastern power player and killer thugs set on devastating the British capitol while taking down the world heads in the process. But their main conquering trophy is the U.S. President.

And there is no one to trust.

960A terrifying vision of the (near) future?

Could be.

Come to think of it that’s probably why the movie was moved back to open this week.

It was initially set for release last October. But then world events caused the film’s distributor to make the date change.

The action is non-stop and CGI scenes of London’s destruction—well, just OK.

What REALLY bugged me though  was sitting there taking in the almost unintentionally comic dialogue.

We’ve seen and heard better.

Maybe I’m being too critical here…

After all this is a popcorn action-thriller, however a little less butter on it would’ve gone a long way.

LONDON HAS FALLEN, also featuring Morgan Freeman as the Vice President and Angela Bassett, grades out a: C
