Glazer: Trump Still on Top Coming Out of Repub Debate

donald-trump-touted-a-poll-that-said-hed-be-an-unmitigated-disaster-against-hillary-clinton-620x315The big news from last night’s Republican debate was the Donald Trump declaration…

“I will remain loyal to the Republican Party. I will run as a Republican. I respect the party.”

So no third party for the Donald. And in a way he was the big winner last night just from that one comment.

Polls show Trump is way out front now.

ABC has him with 38 percent of the vote. Ted Cruz next with 14.2 percent and Marco Rubio with 11.1 percent. All others are in single digits. And while it’s still possible for someone to move up, Jeb Bush with only 5.1 percent and a fading Ben Carson has just 9.9 percent.

Carly Florina has fallen to 2.2 percent with Chris Christie @ 3.2 percent. Of course there are many polls, but most have similar numbers. In some Trump is as low as 27 percent while the Huffington Post has him at over 40 percent.

Trump squared off with Jeb Bush last night.

“You are a leader of chaos Mister Trump. You will never be president,” said Bush.

Trump hit back with “Jeb, you have failed, I am at 40 percent and you are at three percent. So far I’m doing pretty well.”

Trump said Bush was a nice guy but just not tough enough for the job.

Cruz and Rubio also squared off over Isis and immigration.

Everyone talked about Isis and how to stop it – from carpet bombing them into the sand, shutting down their Internet, taking their oil, not allowing any more Muslims into the US. Ted Cruz wants a wall built between the US and Mexico and asked for Trump to pay for it.

Carly Fiorina said, “If you have a problem ask a man and they will talk about it – ask a woman and she will get somethiing  done.”

She quoted Margret Thatcher. Carly’s one of better speakers but just has not gotten much traction.

jeb-bush-to-donald-trump-im-flattered-that-you-stole-my-tax-planCNN felt the race is now down to four candidates: Trump, Cruz, Rubio with an outside shot for Jeb Bush.

Cruz may win in Iowa and Trump leads in other first rounds of pre season run offs. Cruz and Rubio are going after the traditional Republicans while Trump will continue to attract all the voters who are just fed up with government and want something done. Trump’s pool may remain bigger and he’s now a solid candidate with a chance to win the nomination. With growing fear of Isis and middle east turmoil, Trump’s numbers continue to climb, but there’s still a long ways to go.

Perhaps the real winner is Hillary Clinton.

She can stand by and watch these folks battle and wait for the winner. Clinton has overcome computer gate and other negatives so far and looks to be a shoe in for the Democratic nomination. As of today ABC has Hillary defeating Trump  48 percent to his 44 percent. Wow, the Donald has come along way.

The GOP debates are better than anything Comedy Central could trot out there. Wow. What a train wreck! Obviously, the GOP’s playbook was: let’s scare the living hell out of people into thinking they are about to die from ISIS/ISIL et al. Calling the whole thing World War III? Give me a break. We have plenty of home grown whack-jobs that are U.S. citizens that are far more likely to kill me than anything ISIS can offer.

Carson wants Congress to literally declare war on ISIS? Seriously? War against an ideology? A tad bit difficult, I would think. Carson is toast.

My favorite part of politics is that these clowns spend a year and a half telling everyone how horrible, inept, delusional and unprepared to be POTUS their opponents are and then come out in full support of them once they win the nomination.

None of the above should be an option with this field of frauds.

  2. Kerouac says:

Obligatory full disclosure: swiss s**k, royals s**k worse and hildabeast s***s worst of all (likely why Monica made more headway with Bill – [rimshot ~ cymbal crash!] but, that’s old news…

“I will remain loyal to the Republican Party. I will run as a Republican. I respect the party.”

    – not so fast there Lee Harvey… he is as likely to flip-flop on that as you have been on the still-pathetic non-champion royals and swiss over the last few seasons; truth, CG.

“Trump hit back with “Jeb, you have failed, I am at 40 percent and you are at three percent. So far I’m doing pretty well.”

    – actually, the next President of the United States ‘The Donald’ said 42% to Jebediah’s 3%…

“Polls show Trump is way out front now.”

    – he’s also winning head-to-head vs Hildabeast in some polls… Trump/Cruz ticket would be ‘the ticket to ride’ victory!

As Kerouac same: making America great again one narrative haymaker aft another ~ TRUMP 2016

    🙂

    • CG says:

You might be right K. I think Trump Cruz or even Trump Rubio might be a tough ticket especially if Isis hits us hard this coming year.

      • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

another losing pick by glaze and kerowacky. Can’t you guy

        • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

s make a winning pick at least once a week…or
          a couple times a season.
Trump will be done and Hillary will be elected.
Notice news report that 2 million new Hispanic
voters are being registered for 2016. You don’t
think they’ll shake things up and vote in trhe
75-80 per cent category for dems.
this is going to be an early election night boys.
And besides when glaze and kerowacky pick someone
to win…you knowto go the other way and you’ll win
80 per cent of he time.
          just the facts jack…..

          • CG says:

Uh I never picked Trump to win the election just to likely be the Republican nominee. I made it very clear Hilary is the likely winner. But you already knew that. Just like when my sports picks hit. It must be a fake spread. What’s with you?

          • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

at 4:32 am you’re thinking of Harley.
thanks but you need sleep glaze for all the
            hotties.
But there seem to be so many spreads around
on the games these days I was wondering
where you got them because they did not
            match your teaser numbers.
sorry to keep you awake…hope you feel
            better soon.
            your buddy
            Harley

  3. Stomper says:

Thanks for writing about the debate CG. I only disagree with your statement that Cruz and Rubio are going after the traditional Republicans. Cruz is going after the evangelicals and Tea Party, the most rabid base of the party. They show up on election day. Cruz’s behavior in the Senate has pissed off every traditional and establishment Republican and I think those will work against him at every chance they get for the next few months. The recent terrorist attack in San Bernadino is a game changer to a great degree and it is playing right into Trump’s wheelhouse, helping him stay at the top. When he does fade in early 2016, Cruz is hoping they slide to him. The GOP is still a very establishment party that tends to make their nominees pay their dues in the party before giving them the nod to run for the White House. I think it is Bush and Rubio going after the traditional Republicans. Rubio was the winner last night imho and his response to the TRIAD question was a home run after Trump wasn’t familiar with the term. Bush did show up, however. Actually I thought Christie had then best night but it is probably too little too late for him.

It’s still very, very early in the process. Should be fun to watch unfold.

  4. Jim a.k.a. BWH says:

Bible-thumpers, Bush-Lite, a carnival barker and a wanna-be Jersey tough guy. This qualifies as POTUS potential?

John Kasich is the only adult in the field and he has no shot.

As all these buffoons are prone to do, they best pray for a miracle.

  5. Jack Springer says:

The problem is that Trump is not a republican.

  6. Jack Springer says:

Another big question is what will happen after the Obama Administration’s Justice Department fails to indict Hillary Clinton — will FBI Director Comey resign in protest?

    • chuck says:

Did Lois Lerner go to jail? Does Johnathan Gruber lie? Does Hillary Clinton lie and break the law? Gimme a break, NADA. ZILCH. ZE-FU**IN_RO will happen to Hillary Clinton in spite of the mountains of unabiguated evidence of her malfeasance, incompetence and criminality.

George Socialist Steppinfetchit will still pretend that he is an unbaised journalist and question politicians as though he was Cronkite with better hair. The enemy of the people is the real, unchecked and pernicious power of the Liberal 4th Estate.

PEW reports that 74% of all Americans get their news from the major affiliates in conjunction with major newspapers. That is down from 10 years ago, but in effect, the Liberal Media drives the Narrative and that Narrative is always going to be LIBERAL.

So no. Hillary will have no problem with a pesky little indictment, any more than Lois did.

  7. chuck says:

Trump’s refusal to acquire the most rudimentary knowledge of the issues will diminish his viability as would be President on election day. His extemporaneous, ad hoc approach in the debates, speaks to an unwillingness to work hard and apply himself in his endeavor to sit in the Oval Office. He looks more and more like a guy with a cool hat and no cattle. Even a cursory overview of the issues, in conjunction with a promise to “Hire good people” would allay the fears of voters who, are disgusted with Washington, Progressive power and the 4th estate that is the stanchion of that Progressive power.

Here are the Headlines on Drudge today.

Hands out gifts for NASCAR, racehorses, teachers, college students, more…
Increases deficit by hundreds of billions…
    MEETS OBAMA PRIORITIES…
    Funds for ‘climate’ deal…
    Planned Parenthood Praises…
Makes it ‘harder to repeal Obamacare’…
    ‘Cybersecurity’ bill hacked in…
Conservatives give pass on deal they despise!
SESSIONS: THIS is why voters in ‘open rebellion’…
    AMERICAN WORKER SOLD OUT…

We are now, a New Demographic, One Party country in steep decline. While the Democratic “Super PAC” known as the 4th Estate lies and laughs in the faces of traditional Americans and traditional America, the Power of the Fed extends itself into heretofore unimaginable places in our day to day lives. The head of this contemptible, corrupt and craven dragon is the Main Stream Media. For a short time, those disenfranchised Americans thought Trump could ‘St. George’ a spear right through that heart of darkness.

The chimera feasts, it eats us while we sleep.

    • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

chucks…that was pertaining to the repubs giving away the farm (according
to drug)….the repubs gave Obama everything he wanted.
Shows whos is disarray anf who’s getting things done.

  8. P J O'Rourke says:

The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn’t work and then they get elected and prove it.

Every government is a parliament of whores. The trouble is, in a democracy, the whores are us.

  9. HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

    glaze faceplants again.
trump get 30 per cent of republican vote…but when you relate that to actual
votes…more people would vote for Bernie sanders than Donald stump.
Another attempt at comedy by the rethugs…they’re lost…hate each other…
going to civil war ….n when its over hopefully they will be the whigs of
    our time.

  10. Trump fan says:

Some great comments by everyone. Jack Springer is correct when he says Trump is not a true Republican. I’m not normally a conspiracy theorist but Kathleen Parker (NY Times columnist whose piece appeared today in the KC Star) touched on a point that I have heard and read from others. Her point was that Trump’s entry into the race and his antics to get media attention may have been a pre-planned effort to reek a little havoc in the GOP and divert attention/scrutiny away from Hillary. As much as I hate to say it, 🙂 , even Chuck made an accurate observation when he wrote “Trump’s refusal to acquire the most rudimentary knowledge of the issues” to me, proves that he really didn’t plan on becoming serious candidate for the long haul. He just happened to catch the perfect wave and the issue of illegal immigration/terrorism on our shores exploded at the ideal time for him. Once we get into the actual primaries, I really do think GOP voters will expect their candidates to get down in the details of the specific issues. Just saying you will hire the best people won’t cut it. The Donald is a narcissist who would never alter his style or persona to fit the office of POTUS. However, why wouldn’t he ride that wave all the way to the shore, or as long as he stays upright. It helps his brand regardless.

On a side note, it is really sad to me that the biggest slam that Cruz could throw at Rubio during the debate was that he had the gall to actually work with a Democrat (Schumer) to advance bipartisan legislation, like that’s a terrible thing. It used to be a positive to say to your constituents that you could go to Washington and work across the aisle to reach compromise, advance legislation, and do the actual work of the people. Cruz can’t even work with Mitch McConnell and the leadership of his own party.

Finally, P J made the best comment of all.

  11. CFPCowboy says:

At this point, it is still too early to tell. Trump could implode if he fails to win Iowa, and we see a Governor Dean moment, “We’re going to win in…..Weeeehaw.” Just as the public was upset when Bush pushed the War in Iraq down our throats, appropriations for the troops whether we like it or not, there is a general feeling that Hillary may suffer from Obama’s in your face moments, the ACA, Syrian refugees, local talent terrorism, and a host of other things. The ACA, although still standing, has already cost Democrats seats in Congress, and with the employer mandate to remind everyone, it is hard for any Democrat to overcome that. The Republicans seem to be professional shotgun cleaners, looking down the barrel and pulling the trigger to see if its loaded. Like Obama, Trump is a campaigner, and he understands that the Republican rank and file are in revolt. He is definitely not a Conservative, but he knows how to campaign, like denying Muslims at the border. The question will be who is worse, the idiot who ignores last minute and temporary conversions to Christianity like Trump, or Hillary, who assumes that refugees have not lied about their allegiances. Hillary, if she is not faced with her performance in front of George Stephanopoulis in the primary will see it in a general debate, and campaign adds will be killers, after she declared that the families of the fallen heroes of Benghazi are all liars, especially with her comments on video. Wrong move sweety. Cruz is the Conservative, and McConell is his best campaigner. What you may find is that the acts of the IRS may have shifted the Tea Party and Conservatives underground. If IRS was not going to give them tax free status, they might as well conduct their business in cash. In any event, it’s coming.

its going to be fun watching them try to rip the Donald away from the
nomination…because they’ll have 3 days of convention time because
no politician will want to come out and support trump in public…its
      political suicide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So get used to madame president Hillary for 8 years….
