Glazer: Breaking Down the Chiefs & This Week’s Picks

1377536939000-USP-20130816-ajw-sr9-126The Chiefs could lose to Oakland Sunday and still make the playoffs as a wild card…

That’s true. However, a victory at the Raiders house would all but assure KC of a wild card and likely the top spot. Meaning a game at Indy, not New England, Cincinnati or Denver on the road for their first playoff shot. Of course, Houston could also slip into Indy’s spot to face KC. So it’s all still up for grabs.

Most experts feel KC will lose to Oakland because Justin Houston is out of the game.

Thus the Chiefs pass rush will not be there and the Raiders David Carr will chew up our secondary. To be honest if the Chiefs have improved as much as we’d like to think they have this shouldn’t happen. Andy Reid has known this all week and hopefully the Chiefs are ready to adjust and put heat on Carr with everyone else. The Raiders running game is poor so its gonna be the Raiders throwing all day for the most part.

Maybe the most important wild card is Chiefs QB Alex Smith.

Has Smith really found his comfort zone? Can he keep throwing some deeper balls to Jeremy Maclin, our tight ends and backs?  We look to have an offense now. If it’s real let’s see if we can put up points and keep the Raiders offense off the field most of the day.

tempDeeFord_015--nfl_mezz_1280_1024Last week was the first big test and the Chiefs passed by handling the Bills.

If they beat Oakland, their next games against Chargers, Baltimore, Browns and then Raiders at home should be wins. But it’s the NFL and the games are often harder than they look.

I feel KC is ready and Alex Smith has confidence now.

So now the Chiefs defense gets an on the road test.  This game should tell us what we need to know. Are we contenders or pretenders? It’s not a game I would bet much on, however I’m gonna believe KC is ready to move up and win this one on the road. I think Andy Reid’s season rests on this game.

Again if we lose the Chiefs can still go 10-6 and get a wild card. However it won’t feel like they’re a threat to win a playoff game or more. Again, I’ll give them this each week, they have shown improvement in all areas. Especially offensive line and Eric Fisher.

Maybe it does take a few years to grow into this league. Now if Dee Ford can finally step up that would be nice. Our former No. 1 draft pick will see plenty of action, but thus far he’s done little to nothing to help the team. Maybe this is his time to shine.

Our area college football teams – MU, KU and K-State – had horrible seasons and none will go to a bowl. We saw this coming weeks ago.

    “Breaking Down the Chiefs”

    – agreed… they are

“Most experts feel KC will lose to Oakland”

    – this expert agrees… RAIDERS ‘5,639’ ~ swiss chiefs t’0’ast

” because Justin Houston is out of the game.”

    – this expert concurs… the reason however moreso due a couple guys named Carr and Cooper, the best young QB/WR in pro football; Keriouac wonders as he wanders: how many big pass plays/tds will ‘Toast’ Peters give up this week?

“The Raiders running game is poor”

    – hmm… Murray is 2nd in the AFC (just 1 yard behind the leader) with 765 yards and a 4.3 average (also 2nd best) & he’s also torched the Chiefs for 171 yards on 16 carries his two games career vs them, a 10.7 ypc average. Kerouac suspects Murray/Raiders run game will be ok, even sans former swiss C Hudson who will miss this game, likely.

    “Are we contenders or pretenders?”

K, the answer is as simple as the Oakland Raiders 2015 season: t’0’ast

      • Kerouac says:

Another horrendous performance by the swiss today, un-forced Raiders mistakes the difference, with no credit due to the swiss. True final score: OAK 27 swiss 18

KC’s ‘Toast’ Peters was dominated all day long by OAK’s Cooper, et al: he also had to resort holding Cooper in order prevent a 70 yard td pass. His coverage skills nil per the usual, went to plan B – openly weeping to the officials.

Another the swiss may prima donas showed his *** once again – ‘fumbler’ kelce (his trademark) did it again; odd, didn’t see him doing his self-aggrandizing gyrations after that one, go figure… also worth a chuckle was the little hotdog who couldn’t – santos not able puncture the sky his usual “hey, look at me everybody” showboat routine.

The swiss season ends in t-minus 4 weeks, as the Royals season ended in failure same 2015… still no legit Championship won by Kansas City in baseball or football in 60+ years of trying.

        1969*

        1985*

        2015*

        1955-????

        • LancetheIntern says:

Nothing about Sea bass missing 2 field goals and an extra point? Nothing about Alex Smith surpassing Bart Starr? Come on, K…You can do better.
          Chiefs 34 Oakland 20.
          Scoreboard, bitch.

          • Kerouac says:

            “do better”

            – alas, the swiss cannot; 1969* (no legit football Championship ever covering 53 years the title-bereft KC, and come January not even one post season win since January 1993… term ‘eunuch’ fits them like a glove… you understand.)

            🙂

          • Kerouac says:

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery… nod the swiss, who’ve been trying – and likewise failing – to imitate a legit team/genuine Champion, since…

you’re usually wrong on your predictions…but k just kicked glazes’ a$$ about the
    story glaze wrote.

can’t prove you wrong all the time!

  3. CG says:

nice start with Houston win…Harley like all the haters, you never predict any games, nor does anyone else here.

  4. CG says:

    won both college games nice.

    • HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! says:

still a broke man from the previous 13 weeks and predicting the chiefs
werebadand that the royals wouldn’t do anything in ’15.
You’re not the king of sting (which is another faceplant) you’re the
      king of b.s.

  5. Lou Brown says:

This just in – KSU accepts bid to Liberty Bowl.

  6. CG says:

WE almost went perfect but the Bears couldn’t kick short field goals..so 3-1 and another good week I’ll take it.

  7. CG says:

I see that 6-6 K State took a bowl game. Well if they feel they earned one ok. I don’t think .500 teams should go to a bowl but hey its money.

    • Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

This isn’t new, Glazer. 6 win teams have been bowl eligible for quite some time now. So if they only played 11 games and went 6-5, it would be fine with you? If you want embarrassing, try a 5-7 Nebraska team taking a bid to the Farm Bowl or something like that. Talk about a historic program that has totally fallen off the map. At least Mizzou had the integrity to immediately turn down any and all bowl offers when the season was over.

      • CG says:

I never said it was new…just never liked the 6 wins 6 loses bowl offers..hey its money for the school but it is what it is…so area college team does have a bowl game.

    • Kerouac says:

Ditto mediocre NFL teams – like the swiss (really all 32 mediocre teams) – taking a post season game – college athletics same today – it’s all about the $, legitimacy has no bearing at all. ‘No team left behind’, new motto the NCAA as NFL same.

      🙂
