Glazer: The Ultra Sad State of Area Football

Unknown-3Nobody thought much of Missouri, K-State or Kansas before the football season began…

And while there was at least some hope for Mizzou to be decent, with their offense going to sleep all season and quarterback problems they ended up a shadow of what they’ve been the last couple seasons.

Now a MU program that bordered on being elite two years ago is in shambles.

They’ll need at least two wins in last three games to go bowling even in a low level spot.

And that likely won’t happen.

K-State started off looking above average, but then lost five in a row. They too have run out of games left to win the needed 6 victories for a Schmo bowl.

KU as usual is horrid with likely wins zero games this season.

So for the first time in years no local team will go bowling over the holidays.

“Wait til next year,” will be the battle cry.

Unknown-4The Chiefs have won a couple games against bad teams, and they do look a shade better compared to awful.

However with just three wins a playoff spot –  even in a bad year for the NFL with almost every team still in the hunt for a wild card – the Chiefs won’t get there.

I expect few changes for next year.

I do think trading Chase Daniels for RG3 is a good idea.

At least we’d have something to talk about for 2016.

Now we have almost nothing to look forward too…as usual.

This team with an easy schedule next season could back into a wild card with nine wins…you know, if its handed to them. However barring something major that looks unlikely for years to come.

Jeez.

Oh well KC will be glued to the Royals games starting in April and treat every game as a playoff game. We have nothing else.

Hey, at least there’s always KU Basketball.

Glazier…there have been a few interesting events going down at Mizzou the last 72 hours but by all means cut/paste another column lamenting the win-loss records of the local universities. Nice piece.

MU best chance to win another game this year is this weekend against BYU. They won’t beat The Vols and they won’t go into Fayetteville and beat the Hogs.

I also feel they messed up Drew Lock. He’s too shell shocked now to be any useful.

My hope is that the stadium will be empty. People should be boycotting the team. I’m disgusted that my tax money is being used to support a student run college. It’s time for the state legislature to remove funding from the ‘school’.

    * HIGHLIGHT * Peyton Manning sets the all-time NFL record for passing yards in a career, currently 3 yards (if not “and a cloud of dust”) short…

    🙂

Pinkel and his players just insured that Mizzou football will be on par with fake bird football in the future. Shameful.

Daniel, not Daniels. Seriously? Every time?

The silly season: Football lives matter. The University of Missouri will be lucky not to lose a scholarship or two, threatening to walk out on what is left of their losing season. I know, as far as I am concerned, the season.was over a long time ago. Protesting for better health of the football team, better meals, even new astroturf, I could understand, but striking for racial control of who the University hires is beyond the pale. Were it real, Gary Pinkel, loser of 9 games this season, could ne replaced by Bill Cosby or J J Walker, anyone of color over capability. Tony Dunge is out of the question. One tends to wonder whether, if they had a winning season, they’d be willing to risk all for the sale of a grad student, on a hunger strike, to protest what a minority believes, all for the sake of their scholarships. It is not without notice that their next opponent, on television, was Brigham Young. The inmates do not choose the warden; the soldiers do not select the generals, and I do not get to threaten the majority with a few of my friends, or do I? In terms of my tax dollars, this team risked a million for game cancellation, a million in fines from the SEC, plus any lawsuits, and that alone makes Gary Pinkel untenable, not even considering the win-loss record. My taxes should not be paying for this. We respect the protests of Ghandi and Mandella not just for their arguement, but for the risks, pain, and suffering they went through to prove their points. If there is no punishment, then it was only Missouri tax money at risk.
