Glazer: Get Ready for a World Championship!

20081342In mere weeks KC will feel the joy and pride of having a World Championship team…

The Royals seem nearly unbeatable right now. In fact, I don’t think there will be another game in the American League Championship series in Kansas City. My guess is it will end in Toronto. The Royals will likely win two there and end it.

We’ve seen all the teams out there in the national league and they’re damn good, but none match the Royals across the board. KC has the better hitting attack, relief pitching that’s baseball’s best, defense and an attitude that they can’t be beaten – and it works. For most cities a world title is rare and comes along maybe a couple times in a lifetime. So enjoy this one. It’s been 30 years since we had the last one in 1985.

As for our Chiefs, their season ended at Arrowhead when they blew the Denver game.

Since then they have evolved into one of the NFL’s worst teams.

At 1-5 and losing to lower level squads like Chicago and Minnesota, the Chiefs season is all but over. Coach Andy Reid and his crew have gotten worse each year he’s been here. Now they’re terrible. The Chiefs are just playing out the season, looking for a great draft pick.

And once again there is no clear super star quarterback out there to draft.

51M5uDbjKNL._SX450_It’s a tale of two teams that have gone in different directions.

Just a couple years ago the Chiefs were a playoff team and the Royals were still a struggling young club. Now the Royals rule their division and it’s likely they will win the division next year as well. A three year run to the playoffs, nice. Who knows after that with some players leaving for bigger bucks.

Hey, its nice to have an NFL team and Major League baseball in KC.

And we all want winners, but with rare exception – New York, St. Louis, Boston and a few other cities – winning it all doesn’t happen very often, if at all. Ask Cleveland. So we have to have some forgiveness in our hearts for the Chiefs. I know its hard not to be mad. Hey, they want to win as well.

Of course what’s upsetting is even in losing most of the players make millions.

We spend thousands to watch them and other than smiles or frowns don’t get much back.

Oh well, at least we have an NFL team – that’s better than having them move, huh?

Yogi had a few things to say about when it’s over, CG. I have a sinking feeling about the ALCS. Call me a “conditioned” KC sports fan, but I’ll celebrate when/if it happens. Even knowing the history of AL teams since 1985 that have had a 2-0 lead in the series (22-3 to advance to the WS) doesn’t make me feel any better.

God, I hope I’m DEAD WRONG!

Should the voice of reason, restraint and one man’s reality check (another’s cynicism) interject? Do diligence demands, Kerouac appends.

“We’ve seen all the teams out there in the national league and they’re damn good, but none match the Royals across the board. ”

    – don’t do(om) it CG, Jeopardy portends i.e., examples of famous last words for $500, Alex:

1980 Soviet Union Olympic Hockey team (aka Goliath slain by David); 1969 Baltimore Orioles (109 wins most in MLB, 4th most in history/most since one of the many great Yankee teams years before; 1968 Baltimore Colts (“best team in NFL history” so they said (“they” are always saying silly things.)

Things are looking better than naught as of today, but, Hare does not always best the tortoise. Celebrating prematurely (see 1-5 swiss chiefs their multitude of ‘I’ndivduals – the “entertainers” who applaud selves during each contest in lieu the team and a final victory scoreboard aft all four quarters). Their blustery motto, ‘it’s all about the show, bro’… if not the ‘W’s a not especially adept collection footballers, the evidence.

“In mere weeks KC will feel the joy and pride of having a World Championship team…”
    – ok… Namath.2, Tony Bennett’s ‘put on a happy face’ & the late Joe McGuff, KC Star, who, on the eve of Superbowl 1 vs the Packers, stated “what’s more, I see Kansas City enjoying a victory today by a final score of say 27-17.” (Final: Green Bay 35 Chiefs 10)

Games 3 in both the NLCS and ALCS likely tell the tale; still far too early shy said; the names Mets and Royals can just as easily become Cubs and Bluejays.

“The Chiefs are just playing out the season, looking for a great draft pick.”

    – sadly, turning chicken salad quality draft picks into proverbial chicken ‘other’ is not new, Chiefs present lot football life insufficiently sad for pure traditionalists. Of more certainty than the Royals success, rest assure, if there is yet one more Ford or Fisher, Baldwin or Berry, Jackson or Jozwiak, a Dorsey, Trosch or Jenkins to be found, swiss will find him.

That said, if my ‘WORLD CHAMPION’ SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS baseball will not be there, the longest-suffering Cubs too miss out & my former faves Kansas City A’s long gone, may the Royals fill the void 2015.

As for the team formerly known the Chiefs, only memories of great teams & a uniform same that was once more attractive…

Hey guys like the DUDE…haters hate and are my biggest fans like THE DUDE. I believe what I said. I have the right to predict. Lets look at that guys…I said New England wins super bowl, they did, I said the chiefs were awful for several seasons they were, this year I saw better things early on and was wrong, things change…I said Tom Brady was falsely accused, he was, said he would beat it, he did….I can go on…yes I started out poorly this season and last year was off as well, happens. Do you call into CBS and complain when they get it wrong? No. So be quiet.

Fake name dude guy… If you don’t like my stories don’t read them. You don’t like my picks do your own. You don’t cause you can’t do any better or as well. You just like to bitch. As for saying Royals will win. So what…that’s how I see it, you don’t fine but to be a little cry baby and throw insults as a coward fake name guy…please.

    Thanks.

      HAHAHAHAAHAHA.
Yeah, I am your biggest fan. You really are deluded. I don’t read most of your sports articles because they are garbage but when you or hearne come up with clickbait titles such as this one I guess I get suckered into commenting on your horrible writing and analysis (you probably don’t even know what that word means, why I am I using a big boy work like that with a clown such as yourself?). Even a clock is right twice a day, Rugman.

    • Kriskle says:

Glazer, the problem is that you think you know far more than you actually do, and anybody who knows anything about sports knows how foolish it is to make predictions two games into a seven game series.

Did you see the other ALDS? Toronto lost the first two AT HOME. Then they won the next three, including two ON THE ROAD. They are very capable of winning four out of the next five. Or four in a row. Against anybody.

You know anything about the Stroman kid they are throwing tonight? He ain’t chopped liver. And R.A. Dickey was a completely different pitcher after the All Star break. Those two guys win on their home turf, and this series is all tied up.

Sure the Royals are a damned good team. No question. But you know something else? They don’t play these games on paper. They go ahead and play them on the field.

And anybody who knows anything about sports also knows that quite often, the best team on paper doesn’t always win.

Sure, I like the Royals chances. But winning two more isn’t going to be a walk in the park. They fully well recognize the challenge ahead of them.

Which is far more than I can say about self-proclaimed “experts” who think this best-of-seven series is over after two games.

      • Kriskle says:

Oh, and I forgot. You are actually predicting the outcome of the World Series long before Game One.

        • Mark Goetz says:

“Oh, and I forgot. You are actually predicting the outcome of the World Series long before Game One.”

He predicted they’ll win the division next year!!! ALREADY!!!!!!!!!

          • kriskle says:

Good grief, yes! As if the Indians, Twins, White Sox and Tigers will have nothing to say about it.

In the faint hope of educating the poor lad, here’s how the off-season will shape up for the Royals.

Alex Gordon is on a $12.5 million player option for 2016. He’ll be leaving millions behind to exercise it.

Alex Rios has a $12.5 million mutual option. Do the Royals exercise their end of it?

Cueto and Zobrist will both hit the market, for ill or good.

Guthrie is as good as gone. Vargas and Holland will both draw paychecks while rehabbing.

Chris Young is on a one year.

Moustakas, Hosmer and Cain are arbitration eligible, and will be commanding big raises.

Lots of arms in that great bullpen can hit the market, including Hochevar, Medlen, and Madson.

And is Danny Duffy a reliever or a starter? They still don’t know.

      • CG says:

As mentioned below this is just an upbeat story on how we can feel if all goes well. Nothing more. Didn’t ask you to go bet your house on it. If it is painful I’m sure sorry. There are many games to go, we are up 2-1. Lets let it play out before we all go nuts o.k.

  9. kriskle says:

Maybe Glazer understands now, if only for a brief moment, that only fools count chickens while they are still eggs.

  10. CG says:

Folks all I was trying to do was be uplifting. If thats a crime, sorry guilty. Its one loss, Royals may win next two or come home to win it…lets not panic. They still scored at will and Johnny C has been an issue since he got to KC.

I didn’t promise anything, just a nice upbeat story on how we will feel. So lets not be so fast to blame everyone but the hot dog guy for losing last night. If I upped your hopes and that loss destroyed them. I’m sorry. Lets see what happens from here on before we all hang our heads. At least the Royals are in it.

    • kriskle says:

Nobody I know is panicking, Glazer. Nor was anybody I know getting all giddy and writing “Get Ready for a World Championship!” after two games of the ALCS.

Interesting how you now want to walk back your prediction and call it nothing more than a “feel-good” “uplifting” and “nice upbeat story.”

You also don’t have to tell me in advance “how we will feel” if the Royals do win it all. Nor did I allow you, or the drunk sitting at the next bar stool who knows roughly as much as you do, “up my hopes”. I already knew this series was going to be a war, and that the Royals weren’t very likely to sweep it in four.

Know why? Because I realize something that casual sports fans such as yourself don’t. And that is, there’s another team out there. Another very, very good team. The outcome does not depend solely on how your team performs. They’ve got a lot to say about the final score.

Oh, and thank you for the reassurance that the Royals can still win this thing. Ya think? They are still up 2-1 and still have a chance to dig Toronto’s hole pretty deep with a win either today or tomorrow. And either team is capable of winning one or the other or both.

But rest assured that even if the Royals don’t win it all, I’m not going to hang my head. I’ll leave that to the bandwagon fans. I’ll be disappointed, but I’ve been around long enough and gone through so much with this team that I will still appreciate a 95-win regular season and a deep run in October.

      • CG says:

Hey I have written hundreds of stories here. Some sports, some politics, some fun life adventures so on…most are opinions…everyone has one. If me or anyone knew what was going to happen in a sports game or games, we’d be rich guys…betting on it…I suppose…its all opinion…it always will be. When you are right…everyone says well yeah we all knew that..when you aren’t …’you don’t know anything’ always the way it is…the answer is with the Royals not me…and Toronto and if they make the world series with those two teams…crazy things happen in sports all the time. We all have opinions and thats all they are.

        • kriskle says:

Glazer, the only thing your “opinion” is good for is the laughs at watching a self-proclaimed expert make an ass out of himself, day after day, week after week.

Pretty much like that drunk on the bar stool who thinks he’s funny because people are laughing.

Right, Glazer. You are a superstar in your own mind.

Funny, I watch a lot of sports tv. Never seen you on anything. I don’t listen to sports radio because they got a lot of time to fill and often they fill it like you do — with stuff off the top of their heads that only they think is brilliant.

            As far as being here?

            BWAAAAHAHAHA!

I recall once that Hearne kicked you off, and even provided an unedited screed you wrote to show how gawd-awful your stuff was. Too much work for him to put it into English.

But I suppose you wormed your way back in because Hearne is desperate for new copy given his new day job, and can’t find enough people to provide it for what he pays.

          • KCMonarch says:

Didnt I read that sports mega-mind Glazier got banned from stepping foot in the AM 610 Sports studio for life?

  11. CFPCowboy says:

All those eggs, and you assume you will have chickens. I think a certain pitcher had better reconsider free agency. The Chiefs will be playing KU next week, and the odssmakers are perplexed. Reid needs to take a page from K State and apologize. In international affairs, we have a great team, but our coaching staff needs some help.

    • kriskle says:

Sorry, but Cueto can’t “reconsider free agency.”

The ball is in the Royals’ court on that one. They can making him the one-year qualifying offer (around $15 million or so) that would give them the draft pick should he sign elsewhere. He can then and only then choose to accept or decline it and enter the market.

But if the Royals choose not to make the qualifying offer, he’s a free agent. Nothing he can do about it.

      • Brandon Leftridge says:

Actually, the player has to spend the full year w/ the team to be eligible for a qualifying offer. KC will get nothing for him.

        • kriskle says:

Thank you for the correction. So as it turns out, there’s nothing for Cueto to “reconsider.” He’s a free agent whether he wants to be one or not.

  12. gigi says:

For battling back from a 11-2 deficit under tremendous pressure from that stupid dome and the rabid fans, I think they did a damn fine job and probably could have taken it in one more inning.

  13. Phaedrus says:

I predict the sun will rise in the east tomorrow morning.

    Take that, haters!

    • the dude says:

I predict magical nose candy will make its way into glayzers nasal cavities very soon and some type of furry creature will crawl upon his head and lay there all day! See how these silly predictions work? How’s that for predictions, GLAYZER?!?!?

  14. CG says:

Lets see LOOKS LIKE ROYALS ARE GOING TO WIN THE SERIES AND THEY WILL WIN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BECAUSE THEY ARE THE MOST TALENTED TEAM OUT THERE. PERIOD…NOBODY CAN BEAT THEM AS OF TODAY…A GAME MAYBE A SERIES NO…AS MY ARTICLE SAID…I WAS RIGHT..HATERS AS ALWAYS WRONG…I WILL ADDRESS THIS IN TONIGHTS STORY THAT WILL POST TOMORROW SO HATERS FIND SOME NEW HATE….PS NO I’M NOT LIFETIME BANNED FROM ANYTHING OF COURSE NOT 610 OR 98.9 ON IT NOW…THANKS FOR ASKING.

    • Super Dave says:

You liar, your’re still banned from the studio’s at Entercom and you know it. You might be able to call in but you sure can’t show up there. Some day you will learn to keep your mouth shut and not call ladies names.

  15. CG says:

It’s easy to say oh if the team does this or that it might win…pc b.s. me I’m a guy with balls and am brave enough to put it out there..ROYALS WINS SERIES AND THEN TITLE THEY WILL SEE HOW THAT WORKS…you don’t have to agree but to hate the way many of you did when they lost one game…GROW UP.

    • kriskle says:

No, I see how it works.

This morning, you were trying hard to walk back your rather hasty prediction, claiming it was nothing more than a “feel good” story.

This evening, you’re back into the prediction business.

By the way, you really shouldn’t approach a keyboard under the influence. You’re barely coherent when you’re sober.

And you still don’t get that even if the Royals do win the ALCS and the World Series, your post was beyond stupid in absolutely guaranteeing the wins — plus the 2016 AL Central — two games into the ALCS.

    • Super Dave says:

Just claiming to have balls does not make one smart or keep them from making stupid comments as you have proven more times than not.

      • CG says:

Ah now another hater comes out, SUPER POOPER, DAVE…ok again what have you or Kelly predicted? Nothing, nor Harley except Obama would win…tough call…p.s. I had that one too, hah…hey nobody gets them all right…the Royals story again was uplifting more than a prediction though it looks like it will happen…win ACLS and then World Series and win the division next year…yep…nice…things change guys, they always do.

        • kriskle says:

Here’s another clue for you, Glazer. Royals fans already feel good about this team. We don’t need help from bandwagon jumpers who think the obvious is their own unique brilliant idea.

By the way, Mr. Expert. How did your football picks come out this week? I can’t see that even one of them came through, including your ridiculous two-team teases that wouldn’t pay crap even if they did.

You see, I can’t get myself quite around the notion that it takes some sort of special courage and intelligence to pull betting predictions and advice out your hindquarters that would cost real money, but only to those stupid enough to take it.

No, Glazer. It is neither intelligent or courageous to be so attention-starved that you would make an ass out of yourself so frequently on your buddy’s blog.

In fact, it is quite pathetic.
