Snyder, whose turnaround of Kansas State has been called "the Miracle in Manhattan," has told school officials he'll return to coach the Wildcats again. A person with knowledge of the hiring told The Associated Press that the 69-year-old Snyder would be introduced at a news conference Monday morning nov. 24, 2008. (AP Photo/Charlie Riedel, File)

All eyes are on the Royals this weekend and beyond…

After yesterday’s smashing victory over the Blue Jays, the boys in blue are looking World Series bound. It’s one thing to win the first game at home but to shut out baseball’s most powerful hitting attack with just three hits, well, that’s as good as it gets. I don’t see a sweep but maybe this thing only goes 6 with KC winning. The Royals have timed their heat at just the right moment.

And hey, we still have football games to look forward to… don’t we?

Our local football teams are no longer really in the big picture. K-State is the best of the group and could beat Oklahoma at home. This is a key game for the Wildcats bowl hopes. A win here helps them get a better bowl at season’s end.

MU has little chance to upend Georgia on the road.

KU can’t beat anyone.

The Chiefs need to decide how hard they push with Jamaal Charles out and a bad team that’s thrown in the towel. The arm tackling tells us its a give it up season for the defense as well. I can’t see them stopping the Vike’s Peterson. Minnesota has a poor passing game and not a very good pass D, but the Chiefs are so bad, I don’t think it matters much.

Even when the Chiefs were decent winning on the road was always uphill with a decent opponent. The Vikings are slightly above average – so the Chiefs could play it close – but a win is unlikely. I’m looking for QB Alex Smith to be pulled soon if he can’t move the team’s offense. His time in KC is at an end.

The talent on the Chiefs we did have is gone, and now we have nobody playing well that matters.

Now on to the picks!

259544_GLast week we did win all but one pick. So better.

Overall, KC has won 6 of 10 head-to-head regular season vs MINN, but 4 the 6 came at Arrowhead. Neither team has beaten the other more than twice in a row; the swiss have won the last two, hence the Norse turn (new season, different players, so what.)

Sunday’s game will be played at TCF Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Golden Gophers the Big Ten & the Vikes temporary home… despite all the all-world/all-pro types who populate KC’s roster (Kelce, Houston, Peters, Maclin, Smith among other, according fandom/media), will make no difference.

Vikings may have a bit of a letdown aft coming within a field goal of tying the Broncos in Denver. Still, fierce defense should be able to add Jamaal-less Reid’s Redmen their AFC West skins collection includes Denver and San Diego earlier.

Prediction: copious assist NFL’s best RB Adrian Peterson, like a Bridge over troubled Water, Teddy lays the Chiefs down and, (Mike not slowed by his leg injury) throws a long td pass to Wallace over the chasing his wake ‘best rookie’ NFL, fresh ‘Toast’ #22.

    @MIN 34 swiss 10

  2. balbonis moleskine says:

    0-1 on the college tease.
No action on the second game as Texas Tech played KU not Alabama.

  3. miket. says:

    k-state… +10-1/2. snicker, snort, guffaw…

  4. Jess says:

Wow, did not see that coming from the K-state game. That was bad

  5. CG says:

Balb is right typo it was Bama over Texas A&M, however when its a straight up bet Alabama to win at the window which this was, bet plays…they correct the other teams name. My mistake. But it was a good call Bama no tease to win and boy did they. I have them as the number one team right now over Ohio State.

As for the killing of K State by OU. Welp 9 CBS experts and me picked K State to cover the 4 1/2 at home they were the home dog. Why, K State has played all games they lost close to better teams than OU at home, TCU and OSU. Losing in overtime and last minute. So a weaker OU team was clearly a good call at K State…but this is an example of how tough betting big is today…a huge betting upset…if you asked 100 experts to pick 95 or more would take K State at home and points. I even added 6 by teasing it and still got thumped.

BACK TO what I have said all year this is a tough time to go out and lay down big bucks on any college or most pro games. Way too many upsets. More than ever.

Now that we are mid way through the season college teams are still shaky at the top. I did see the Mich St. over Mich problem with points but they won outright on a crazy blocked punt at games end.

As for today Vikes should handle KC, if I was in Vegas I’d do the money line NO POINTS JUST VIKES TO WIN AND GET BACK LESS MONEY…or tease with Packers or New England the only two dependable NFL teams…Bengals are getting there, but still have a bit more to go to prove they are the number 3 team in the NFL as does Carolina. Denver is the other good team, less Manning scoring a ton…and AZ is still better than solid…after that…its a mess.

    • KCMonarch says:

Nope. No credit for the second college pick. A typo is when you hit a wrong key or two. Not when you don’t even know which university you’re picking against.

      • CG says:

WEll IF THAT makes you guys feel better. Ok. By the way I think I won last week huh…again all of you are invited to pick games BEFORE they happen next week…be my guest.

As Chuck knows and regular readers here my picks were damn good until last season. Last year was not. But hey they are just picks. Its not the end of the world. Just a way to hate I guess. My article on the Royals had nothing to do with picks, huh.

        • Fake Name Guy says:

Don’t let em get to you CG. Only a complete moron would come here and try to do what you do for us every week.

        • uhou eaarley says:

wrong…you doubled up and wins inthose prop
          teases.
you have never been above 40% EVER…and your
predictions for the chiefs and royals have been
          atrocious.
          stop lying.
you are no Houdini…but you can b.s. yourself out
of a bag with your fuzzy and very wrong math.
          now go back to strippers.

      • JayhawkTony says:

        +100

  6. chuck says:

Usually, when announcers pontificate on the animosity between teams (“The Ravens and The Steelers are arch enemies!”) it is all Bullsh*t. The safest bet today, has got to be, the Patriots – 9 against the Colts.

You think Brady or Belicheat is going to back off the gas today?

    Pats by 30.

  7. The Word says:

Well another day, another Chiefs lost.

I’m almost tempted to become a Raiders fan. Cooler colors, more championship history, about to move to LA, won’t look like a bandwagon jumper.

Only problem is…I’m not a Hell’s Angel biker, a black hood rat or Mexican. Oh well…

  8. Bill says:

Oklahoma’s 55-0 win at Kansas State moved Bob Stoops to 28-0 in the regular season after a regular season loss since 2000. Stoops has only once lost two straight regular season games, and that came in his first season. He’s also 7-0 after a loss to Texas, with an average margin of victory of 28 points.

    • Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

Stoops went in dry on the old man and left him a quivering pile of wrinkled flesh. It was embarrassing.

      • The Word says:

This should be Old Man Snyder’s last year.

He took many of Ron Prince four year guys, ones Prince couldn’t win with. He mixed them with his JUCO Ponzi scheme guys and built a faux national championship contender…for one short year.

Remember Collin Klein was a Prince guy.

Looking back, Prince’s biggest problem was he tried to quickly to transition K State from a JUCO team to a four-year one. Prince thought K State was a big enough name school to get a few four maybe even one or two, five star players to come there.

Old Man Snyder knew that was never going to be the case. So get a lot of two star projects, a few three’s and mix them in with his JUCO Ponzi guys. Coach them up and hopefully the Big 12 will be weak enough that we become a national title contender.

That’s how it worked in 2012.

        • Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

And it worked well that year until they were summarily raped by Baylor, who exposed them for being what they were. A pedestrian team with little team speed that made few mistakes. They rode Klein like a rented mule. After Baylor, Oregon pretty much did the same thing.
