New Jack City: Big Screen Summer Replays Set

150608103918-jurassic-world-training-780x439It’s that time of year again on the movie calendar…

You know, the end of the summer movie season when the fat lady sings—and she’s about to cut loose.

We’re heading into the dog days of late August and early September when no major Hollywood studio risks releasing any of their A—or more often than not, even the B titles.

It’ a time for distributors to clear off their shelves in preparation for the fall movie season

And the 2015 fall movie outlook is PROMISING!

It’s also a time for the studios to wring that last drop of ticket revenue out of their major summer hits. Call them re-issues, re-releases or my favorite …back by popular demand!

Whatever you call it, this end-of-summer practice will offer at least four returning titles going into Labor Day weekend.

They include:

*** Universal’s “JURASSIC WORLD” with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The film opened on June 12th and has grossed $ 638.3 million domestic dollars to date. It returns to IMAX and large screen formats.

*** Disney/Marvel’s “AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON” starring—among others—Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson.

This superhero action hit started the summer in style on May 1st and has produced $ 457.4 in domestic ticket sales.

737585-dope-2015-trailer-movie-and-more-with-dir*** Disney/Pixar’s ” INSIDE OUT” voiced by Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Lewis Black and Diane Lane opened on June 19th and wasn’t the easiest movie for Disney to market. But terrific word-of-mouth made this Pixar production a major winner with north American sales to date of $ 340.2 million.

**** And then there’s Open Road’s coming of age sleeper, “DOPE.” It opened on June 19th but was pretty well overshadowed by blockbusters and tent-poles. It had mere ticket sales of $ 17 million but deserved better.

Think “BOYZ IN THE HOOD” meets “DAZED AND CONFUSED.”

This is your second chance to discover it!

All four summer releases return to KC screens—just in time for the fat lady to sing.

Great. We missed Jurassic in Imax when it first opened here. Will definitely make a point to see it this time around

So I thought Herne was in LA after his divorce?

But TKC showed a link of HC selling cars in Topeka. Interesting.

Why would you think he moved to L.A.? He just moved down the street in Lawrence—and yes, commuting/working in Topeka.
(Gives him a chance to watch movies in Topeka since the Lawrence theater leaves much to be desired.)
