Glazer: Watch Out, World; Trump Still Triumphant

Polls show Donald Trump leading by a huge margin even AFTER the first debate!

Yep, even though many – including me – thought he took some hits at the debate. But it turns out he did not! According to NBC, it’s Trump with 23%, Ted Cruz 13%, Ben Carson 11%, Carly Fiorina 8% and Marco Rubio 8%.

Big gains were posted by Carson and Fiorina as well as Cruz.

Jeb Bush, the heavy favorite before Trump entered, is slipping badly. Some polls have him at 4% and some much higher at 11%. But as of now, Trump is leading in all the current pre polls like Iowa.

Voters are clearly fed up with ‘business as usual speeches and promises.

Trump says he’s a major business success – a man worth billions – and he’ll apply his “touch” to our economy and its problems. He promises huge changes in dealing with China, Japan,Mexico and other foreign nations. He’ll put people in positions, much like himself, that are major business players who have big time experience with dealings in business and with our foreign friends and enemies.

How Trump expects to do all this we’re not sure and he’s not yet been clear.

His message to date: “Just trust me, I’m a winner.”

6a00d8341c2c4f53ef013487c1ebf7970cKinda sounds like Michael Douglas’ character in the movie WALL STREET, but it’s working.”Greed is good.”

The public is worn down by financial woes and they want a leader who will make it all better. So enter rock star media giant and real estate monster Donald Trump. Is he the Messiah? Many want to believe that.

As I wrote in the beginning of all this, Trump was sure an exciting candidate and he had my attention. Does he have yours? Can he keep moving upward and onward? Can he win the nomination?

Hillary Clinton seems more worried about Marco Rubio.

Rubio’s younger, handsome, and has that Kennedy aura about him.

At some point Rubio could pass Trump, if the Donald falls.

Then there’s the emergence of Carly Fiorina.

Fiorina’s become a new force in the race.

Trump said that she’s boring, so you know he’s looking her way.

And if the popular Ben Carson teamed with Fiorina or Rubio, that could be a strong ticket to compete with Hillary. And of course, one of them could end up running with Trump.

Right now Trump is the man and the show.

And that may not change anytime soon. Yes, Trump can win the nomination.

That is if he does his homework, gets a strong plan, lightens up a bit and steps up the “I can fix this thing”  talk.

Right now nobody knows what the heck will happen, but one thing’s for sure, Donald Trump is center stage.

Here’s what is going to happen, CG:

    1. Trump will NOT get the nomination.
    2. Once he’s out, he’s going to take a flamethrower to the RNC
    3. He’ll mount some bogus/weak independent run and get his 6% or 8% of voters that are fed up with both parties.
    4. Whoever is the Dem. nominee wins the election due to the fact that some whacko hard-line right winger is the only other choice.

The vast majority of Americans are pretty middle-of-the-road politically. You hear all the noise from the far left and the far right, but that ISN’T America.

As I said before, Trump likes RUNNING for president. Trump doesn’t want to BE president.

    • paulwilsonkc says:

You are correct, aka. Trump is involved in shameless self promotion; he has no interest in BEING president. All he wants is free media attention and brand promotion.
      Well reasoned and accurate.

      • Jim a.k.a. BWH says:

PW, I don’t even consider it “shameless” promotion. Every media outlet in this entire country is falling all over themselves to report the next thing Trump says or does and then analyze it until he says the next outrageous thing and then the whole thing starts over again.

The cable and broadcast TV outlets are get a ratings boost every news cycle when they have the next Trump-ism. Think they give a damn if he is making a serious run or just promoting his brand? Why would they? He has energized a whole segment of disenchanted voters and I’m going to chuckle when he ends up pissing all over them.

  5. Stomper says:

CG, thanks for all the recent pieces on Trump. Glad to see you are branching out at KCC from sports, etc. Little disappointed that Hearne can’t get Rich Steele, Dwight, Professor Paul Wilson, or even Whinery ( is he even still alive?) to offer political commentary.

I agree with what you say about Rubio. If he could mellow a bit and take mainstream positions ( like Bush or Kasich) he would be a very, very formidable candidate. Jim nailed it above, the independent voters in the middle are the ones that will elect the president, not the Republican base that all the GOP candidates seems to be pandering to. The issues of immigration and Planned Parenthood are red meat to the base but they only serve to piss off chunks of Hispanic voters and women voters, voters the GOP needs to have a shot at victory against Hillary ( or a rising Sanders candidacy). With the current group, the way I see it through my blue tinted glasses, only a ticket of Bush/Kasich would have a shot at drawing enough independent, middle of the road voters to have a possible path to victory. Reince Prebus must be pulling his hair out at the self immolation of his party.

    • Stomper says:

      Priebus, sorry.

    • h arley says:

stomper…love ya but your story is off again.
heres what happens according to my sources and my analysis.
      Trump has his 23-25 percent.
But that’s as far as it goes.
The first candidate to drop looks like perry…he’s not paying staffers already
      and out of money.
He’s drawing 5-6%. Where do those people go. If they follow his
political philosophy I see them going to bush.
Next are the other clowns like carson/huckleberry: they falloff…where
do they go. I’m guessing probably maybe cruz because he’s very
      conservative.
Eventually the 12 clowns drop off because of money and not having any
support. So how do those supporters go? Porbably to the republican
who is using his 200 million slush fund to bombard the other lower
rated repubs who drop out because of lack of money and support.
Bush has 200 million…has unlimited capital to gt the nomination and
when it comes time for the repub establishment to run the primaries
money will talk and bush has it.
He’ll flood airwaves in iowa/new Hampshire/south Carolina and eliminate
      most of the other clowns.
But where do they go. Most hate trump by September/October or
maybe as late as January…and they support bush and his high
flying and well financed campaign. People like always…get sick f
trump and he’s getting scorched daily and the polls show him losing
      badly to the dems.
Kasich has no money nor does Rubio and the big money Koch brothers
and adelson want the white house so they put their mney on the easiest
guy to win ……that’s probably bush. So in the end when all the other
clowns drop out its who do the drop out candidates supporters support.
Trump will probably get up to 30% but he’s got no national campaign
organization…and I think he’s too cheap to spend his own money….
so in the end….the repub establishment ends up with the worst candidate
on earth….bush…who’s boring and has ties to his brother which probably
      strangles him.
Hillary has 90% of the black vote and they are stirred up and already
fighting the bad voting laws….she needs to grab the Hispanic vote.
Rubio already blew it with immigration policy…so Hillary grabs a
sharp young Hispanic like castro from san Antonio as her candidate
and gets 70-80% of the Hispanic vote and the election is over.
That’s what the experts are saying and I’m seeing everything move
      this way.
Repubs war on women backfires…bush said it.
And we get eight years of bill and Hillary running the nation like the
good old days when we had surpluses and no wars…and big earnings…
As far as Hillary’s emails…another b.s. deal. Okay she used her server
for biz…but remember there was no law against that then…..
its all planned…and how can bush attack Hillary when his dads best
      friend is bill Clinton?
come on dudes think about this
Harley knows all…listen to the only commentator/pundit/writer who
got the 2012 electoral vote on the nail…..Harley knows~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

          PREDICTION.

Until then, you take care, son.

      • CG says:

Now some of that made sense Harley. Clinton is now being attacked as a spy/criminal…ala Watergate and Deflategate…most Americans can tell you more bout deflategate than Hilay’s computer or Watergate…of course she broke some meaningless in this case rules, but ‘rules are rules’ and she likely covered it up..this could lead to her undoing….media is all over it of course…so if she falls who knows…this race would really be up for grabs in fact the winner…may not be in yet?

  6. KCMonarch says:

Trump’s greatest gift to the Clinton and the Dems is the smoke screen he’s created while Hillary’s email issues are being investigated.

  7. Kerouac says:

The more a shameless media/doubters deride him, still higher the next President of the United States of America goes – Trump for the win 2016 POTUS!

    🙂

  8. Phaedrus says:

I’ll vote for anyone not named Clinton or Bush.

  9. CFPCowboy says:

The public is tired of both political parties. In Iowa, it is Trump, Walker, and Fiorina, 1, 2, and 3. The Democrats fair no better with Socialist Bernie Sanders the non-Capitalist, coming on strong as Hillary is exposed. The voters are not really listening. They just want someone new, something other than what they have. In terms of technical structure, Bush and Clinton may end up being no more than king makers, with lots of money but no chance themselves. In New Hampshire, with Trump and Sanders now in the lead, both candidates may have the most support in their respective parties, but both are plaqued with approval caps and less than a majority of support. Personally, I support neither. I do not think Clinton will be prosecuted, but Justice can no longer ignore the felonies, and the public can no longer tolerate either ignorance or outright elitism, thinking laws do not apply. At some point in her defense, she loses enough support that she can’t be elected. One has to wonder how either Trump or Sanders can govern, but the stakes are higher with the next President appointing probably 3 Supreme Court Justices. Interesting.

    • Stomper says:

      Good comments Cowboy.

I agree the public is fed up with both political parties, largely as a result of the gridlock that exists in DC and has for so long. Personally, as a leftist, I think that is mostly the result of the obstructionist attitude of the GOP lawmakers who are against anything the O man favors, even if they were for it before he offered it but I’m not so naive to think the Dems don’t have their share of ideologues, unwilling to compromise.

Secondly, while I agree that Hillary has some baggage here, that baggage is mostly in the eyes of the Republican base. Every candidate has baggage. My personal view on politics is that it is much, much more a function of how one sees the role of government and much less on the individual personalities of the candidates themselves. To one who sees a role for the government to play in critical areas of our economy, then the worst democrat is ALWAYS better than the best Republican. To one who wants the smallest possible government and feels the private sector should have little or no interference from government, then the worst Republican is ALWAYS better than the best Democrat. Ignore the individual personalities but a lot of voters don’t really seem to consider the importance of broad ideology and get swayed by personality, or their perceptions of individuals.

It’s early in the process so the maverick candidates in both parties are getting traction and attention. In the end, the party machinery and the money will win out, imho. At this point, to me at least, it looks pretty inevitable for the finale to be Bush vs. Clinton. Again, anything can happen in the next 15 months or so. With all the attention on Hillary’s problems and the long shot of Sanders, Biden’s supporters have to feel empowered here. Rubio and his spin doctors might finally pull their heads out and realize they have a strong candidate with a legit shot if he would only move to the center more. The camera loves the guy and he is articulate. Why he throws away these advantages by pandering to the far right astounds me but as a Democrat, I am very thankful he does. He is the one guy that POTENTIALLY scares me, but not in his current state.

Finally Cowboy, you noted the importance of potentially appointing as many as three Supreme Court Justices and that is a huge point to highlight. However Justices don’t always play out like the President that appointed them envisioned. Earl Warren comes to mind and Eisenhower often said appointing him to the bench was the biggest mistake of his presidency. Kennedy’s appointment of “Whizzer” White turned out to be a disappoinment to liberals. I’m confident that a large number of conservatives are very , very disappointed in John Roberts. Politics is sure fun, isn’t it?
