On top of which, the Clinton’s remind us of better times in America. That’s all, it’s simple. So they remain the sentimental favorites to gain back the White House.
But hold on!
Is it possible that DONALD TRUMP could beat her?
OMG.The Donald is the leading Republican candidate, according to the polls. How can that be folks?
Trump says hero John McCain is not a hero at all.
Trump says McCain was merely captured by the enemy. So he’s a survivor not a hero.
Then on Jon Stewart, Trump was shown reversing that and saying he was kind of a hero.
The Donald has called our Mexican neighbors who illegally cross the border everything from drug dealers to rapists.
Trump pulls no punches!
But can he actually get the Republican nomination?
Yes he can. He is reality TV at its finest. After all, Trump was already a star with his own show for years, the Apprentice. A show about going to work for Trump. He picked the winners and dammed the losers. And it was a hot show for more a decade.
Remember an actor by the name of Ronald Reagan?
Trump is a self-made billionaire who has had several financial setbacks and knows what its like to go broke and come back.
So you know, maybe.
He runs a huge business and controls thousands of jobs and lives. And today he’s considered a big success. He’s right wing and has an opinion on just about everything.
With Trump in this race it would make for some a super hot television news. He will offend many but appeal to many more. He’s the rich common man speaking out and loudly and proudly.
Many will see him as their hero, the anti Obama.
And that may be good for 45% of the vote or better.
They say Trump gave over $1 million to John McCain when he ran for president. Now he’s not a MaccMcCain fan. Trump minces no words =for all his Republican opponents – and none too nice.
And the Donald likes giving out the cell phone numbers of people he doesn’t care for…hmmm.
So what’s likely to happen? We most likely will never see another Barack Obama. A truly compassionate president who is as nice a man as the White House has seen in decades. He meant well and still does.
Obama is a truly decent man. Like him or not.
He doesn’t cheat on his wife, doesn’t get overly high or drunk, and tries to mend fences. Obama will go down in history as one of the all time great presidents. He will.

And in today’s world this guy could win the nomination.
Though he leads now, that’s unlikely. to continue. I look for Jeb Bush to move to the front of the pack at some point.
Hillary will win the Democratic nod. She’s almost unbeatable. And there are simply more Democrats who will go out and vote.
So Trump getting in this thing makes it fun. Because if nothing else, he’s a showman. A showman with really bad hair and hot wives and girlfriends.
He can even win the nomination. And oh boy, would that be wild!

Having Trump win the nomination would be handing the White House to Hillary. I think the republicans should put up a ticket of Bush/Kasich. That would bring swing states of Florida and Ohio into play.

In my history book, he will go down as the biggest traitor to this nation since Benedict Arnold. I don’t care about “Obamacare”, I don’t care about gay marriage, I don’t care about Cuba. But you think the President that has overseen the expansion of the largest domestic surveillance program in the history of the world is one of the greatest presidents ever?
He says we need this surveillance to protect America, but letting anybody and everybody just walk into this country is somehow ok? How can those 2 statements be reconciled? The country is in danger and needs to intrusively and surreptitiously spy on every American, but it is safe to let anyone in that can walk across the border. No that doesn’t fly with me. I don’t know how history will judge him, but I will never bestow “greatness” on a traitor. I will never bestow “greatness” on a man that has taken more freedom from Americans than any man before him.

Trump is the best of worlds and the worst of worlds for the GOP. The base of his support is people who are sick and tired of the promises, promises to balance the budget, repeal the ACA, and stop illegal immigration. In politics, it takes time to get the messages out, while normally competing with the news, while the news is presenting topics to be used now or later. Hillary, bless her heart if anyone can find it, loses to four of the Republican primary opponents in head to head matchups, in four states won by Obama…Whoops. Trump will not be the final candidate. So he has 28% support in a 16 person field. That also means he has 72% opposition spread among the 15. The best that Democrats can hope for is that he runs 3rd Party when his partying ends, which would be a real tragedy for Republicans. What I really want to see, that nobody is talking about, is the Democrat debate, between O’Malley, Sanders, Clinton, Webb, and others. We used to pay to go to the Circus, and we are going to get it for free, along with enough sound bites to sink any debate victor. If Democrats think the Republicans were up for the last Midterms, now we get to see what Supreme Court Decisions, along with the news, Planned Parenthood, Illegal immigrant felons, the ACA, the Iran Deal, IRS, and unarmed Marines killed in Chattanooga, and other news brings. If I were Democrats, I would be scared. Trump is just building the base, and Republicans are angry. Democrats appear to be unsettled, with O’Malley apologizing for saying “All Live Matter”. We will watch and see.

Freedom Rings; I’m responding to your points down here where it won’t get buried above. You are absolutely correct on a couple of points but it’s not a black and white issue.
1. Just because all politicians lie does not make it right. My point was that politicians lying is the reality we all face in this country and that’s the nature of politics. Yep, it’s wrong and we can all bi+ch about it but to go apoplectic because Obama has lied and not recognize that this is how politicians often operate is naive. Many politicians actually think they are telling the truth and circumstances force them to act otherwise. We can wish for Utopia but none of us live there.
2. Yes, the domestic surveillance policy of this administration and the preceding one have taken huge chunks of civil rights away from our citizens. However, if you ask the loved ones of those that died during the Boston marathon, the soldiers that died at Ft. Hood, the members of the military shot in Chattanooga, and other similar tragedies about this issue and the possibility that surveillance of calls, internet activity, etc. might have allowed authorities to stop what occured so that their loved ones would be alive today, what do you think they would say? How many of our citizens are still alive today because authorities may have uncovered plots to kill our citizens because of surveillance that you feel is illegal? Maybe a loved one of yours. There is no black and white here. No completely right answer and no completely wrong answer.

2) Your point isn’t lost on me. I fully understand the argument you are making, and won’t say it isn’t a compelling one. I suppose it is a matter of perspective and priorities. I value freedom over the life of any 1, 100, or 1000 people, including my own and the lives of my family. Also bear in mind less than 5000 people have been killed by terrorism in the last 50 years in the USA, thats less than 100 a year (less than the number of people murdered in KC alone in a year). And 80%+ of those 5000 were on one day.
So lets take a different perspective. Even though their immediate family is dying, if you asked the loved ones of the 407,000 soldiers who freely gave their lives in WWII to protect these freedoms we are now giving up how they feel, do you think they would support the surveillance state? I would even bet if you asked the soldiers who were killed in Ft. Hood and Chatanooga (if there was someway to talk to people in death) if they wanted their deaths to cause an erosion of freedom, the military members I know would say they wouldn’t want their deaths to represent that. It just seems to me we are disregarding the sacrifice of the people who have voluntarily given their lives to save freedom, because a few people have been killed as a result of that freedom.
407,000 people thought freedom was important enough to die for, 5000 people were senselessly killed and didn’t have a choice. I hope I was clear in my point. Brain is a little slow this morning 🙂
I do want to be clear that I do not disregard your point, and it is very valid. I just feel very differently. I feel it would be very selfish of me to worry so much about my security that my children and grandchildren will live in a world where they never get to know the freedom I had the pleasure of knowing. The freedom that gave me the opportunities and successes I have had. Because without that freedom, I can say with a reasonable degree of certainty that I would not be what I am today. So on that note thank you to anyone who gave their life to secure these freedoms, and I pray for the souls of the people who lost their lives because we have these freedoms.
