Hearne: Showdown Between Lazlo / Glazer Leads to Entercom Building Ban

Lazlo

Lazlo

What goes around comes around…

A long running grudge by 96.5 The Buzz afternoon drive host Lazlo – aka program director Scott Geiger – against Stanford’s owner Craig Glazer erupted last week and has resulted in Glazer being banned from Entercom offices.

The details are sketchy since pretty much everyone’s lips are sealed, but based on anecdotal evidence over the years, it appears Lazlo’s bad feelings toward Glazer spring from an incident years ago when he was forced to choose between Lazlo’s Buzz and Johnny Dare‘s Rock 98.9. Both stations wanted Glazer and the comics that appear weekly at his Overland Park club, but only one show would prevail.

Not surprisingly, Glazer choose Dare and the then mighty Rock.

That was then.

Ever since Glazer’s been the butt of Lazlo’s jokes on TwitterFacebook and on the airwaves. And some of those “jokes” have been over the top, mean spirited, calling Glazer a racist and other disparaging things. Of late, Glazer’s spanking new Stanford & Sons comedy club at 119th and Metcalf was reportedly labeled a “shit hole.”

The flip side of that beef:

IMG_9623Lazlo seems to believe it was Glazer who ripped him and his wife, Buzz morning show host Afentra, in a column last October on KC Confidential:

“Advertiser Calls Out 96.5 The Buzz Hosts as ‘Player Haters.’ ”

The column ran in the wake of Afentra, Lazlo and The Buzz suffering a seven figure-plus hit for misidentifying a local law school student woman as a porn star and sticking it to her.

“There’s a difference between the R-rated antics of rival morning show host Johnny Dare on The Rock 98.9 and the crude antics of Buzz hosts Afentra and husband Lazlo who hosts the afternoon drive slot on the station,” said the unidentified source.

“I just really don’t like listening to The Buzz,” the source continued. “They’re really hateful. It’s not like Johnny Dare – they’re really kind of mean. The difference between Johnny Dare and Lazlo and Afentra is, it’s hard to outdo what Dare does because he’s got it down to a science. He got in trouble with the FCC once and he’s learned how to stay within the rules. There’s plenty of innuendo but he stays within the bounds.

“The other thing is Dare is a good-looking guy and he’s in shape. Women think he’s attractive and that gives him more poetic license to talk about off-color things. Where Afentra and Lazlo – they’re not attractive, they’re not in shape – they’re not media personalities that you’d want to pattern yourself after.

Afentra

Afentra

“So when they’re criticizing somebody about their behavior or sexuality they come across as player haters because they’re overweight and out of shape. You wouldn’t see Afentra or Lazlo on the cover of anything except maybe The Pitch. I mean, they carry themselves like schlumps, they look like a sack of potatoes. And they don’t dress to try and ease the situation, to try to look better.”

At one point shortly after that column ran it appeared that Lazlo and Glazer might duke it out were they to meet up in Entercom’s offices, however nothing came of it.

At this stage of the game however, it appears Entercom may have put the two “children” in time out – with Lazlo somewhat muzzled and Glazer on the outside looking in.

Here’s a thought:

With The Buzz’s rapid ratings rise – surpassing even the mighty Rock in 12+ and adults 25-54 – maybe it’s time the kiddies make up and play nice.

  1. Am I wrong? says:

What does The Buzz have to gain from, “making up, and playing nice”. Screw that, they lived through the down times when Glaze would have been a boost. Now they are at their pinnacle, and Glaze brings nothing to the table for them. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t see a significant enough boost to warrant letting this go if The Buzz doesn’t want to. They hold the cards.

    • FlyinBrian says:

They can now court Glazer for the meat head audience. Plenty of those in the kc marketplace. Take the writers for this website, for example.

      • admin says:

        Speaking of meatheads, FlyinBrian…

Meathead is one word – your spelling error – accompanied by your great familiarity in this area, rendering you as a somewhat obvious member of this esteemed group.

        • the dude says:

I guess de facto he IS a glayzer fan then?

        • 'rhahhararley says:

is that flyer from the tank room for real? that’s horrible!
was it put out in public.
When will we hear glaze’s side of this story?
What if glaze had a Lazlo night?

and why would grown ups resort to this?
          They’re both stubborn.
I really don’t know the full story but glze sucked
entercom for millions of dollars worth of free
advertising over the years and kept the BIG SECRET
          secret for long enough.
WILL GLAZE BREAK DOWN AND LET THE
          WORLD KNOW WHAT HE KNOWS.
should be interesting in kc for the next few months!

  2. admin says:

    Good point, Am I Wrong…

However, Entercom has like eight or nine stations in this market and has to do what’s in the best interest of them all.

And avoiding expensive lawsuits is certainly high on the company’s list.

    • Am I wrong? says:

Well that makes sense about Entercom having multiple stations. I don’t understand the reference to lawsuits though. Blacklisting Glaze will lead to a lawsuit? Or are you talking about The Buzz’s penchant for speaking before they think?

  3. KCMonarch says:

meh. Two fat old bald guys acting like a couple of middle school girls.

  4. Jess says:

That is too bad because Glaze and Lazlo are perfect for each other, two very shallow pricks that love to hear themselves talk. But, Lazlo does seem like a douche about just about everything.

  5. Jack Springer says:

    No one cares.

  6. CFPCowboy says:

Perhaps a turkey flying through the front window of a lawyer’s office was only a representative for one of the two seeking an order of protection. The question is which one.

  7. Lance The Intern says:

“…Ever since Glazer’s been the butt of Lazlo’s jokes on Twitter, Facebook and on the airwaves”

Like Glazer’s never been the butt of Johnny Dare’s jokes? Ask Glazer about the “Little Dick Bitch” song.

    • admin says:

      There’s a difference, Lance….

      A huge one.

glazer is effectively a cast member on Dare’s show. And there’s some chemistry there. That’s not the case with Lazlo. Far from it.

      • Lance The Intern says:

No. Glazer is simply one of those “no such thing as bad publicity” guys who is willing to be put down on a constant basis just because his name gets mentioned on the radio.

That’s a paraphrase from a comment by Johnny Dare, BTW.

        • Libertarian says:

          Hammer…..meet nail.

          +1

        • the dude says:

He is so desperate to get press about his yuk yuk shack that he will let this dare guy emasculate him on air. Must be depressing to be that guy that allows that to happen.

        • admin says:

          Well Lance…

I can assure you Johnny and Glazer are friends, which is far from the case with Lazlo.

        • admin says:

          Lance, Lance, Lance…

You gotta learn to take things with a grain of salt sometimes. Radio is theater. Johnny Dare is theater. Craig is theater.

But there isn’t any acting going on where Lazlo and Craig are concerned. Lazlo’s ill will is very much real.

Craig, really doesn’t have any hard feelings for Lazlo. Not until maybe recently. He’d love to be on The Buzz.

He didn’t want to leave several years ago when he was forced to choose between The Buzz and The Rock. We was, and wanted to continue to be on both stations.

In the current idiom, Craig doesn’t appreciate having failed local comics go on the Buzz and call his brand new comedy club a “shit hole.”

Nor is he happy being called a racist, when there is substantial evidence to the contrary.

But the last thing he wants is to conduct a public feud with Lazo. Trust me on that one.

  8. Libertarian says:

    ALL commercial radio sux balls.

    • admin says:

It’s not for me either, Libertarian…

Although I listened to Lazlo and 610 yesterday afternoon and where 610 was entertaining, aside from the music – U2 and Coldplay (not exactly cutting edge) – the banter between Lazlo and his two far younger sounding sycophant sidekicks, was all but unlistenable. I mean, sophomoric, boring – I was stunned how bad It was. Seriously. Grade B morning zoo material.

Maybe I just caught a really bad break or somethimg. But it wasn’t the slightest bit hip. Lazlo sounded like somebody dug up former ky102 jock Max Floyd and brought him back to life.

      Frankly, I was shocked

      • Libertarian says:

I listen to radio for music, I watch channel 5 for my news, and I get my useless banter from my co-workers, which, is definitely a cut above what you described.

I used to listen to ressurection Sunday until Jason Justus disappeared. Effedrin, or whatever she calls herself, sounds like she’s about 1/2 a pack of Kools from losing her voice. Ick.

      • randyraley says:

Aw man, bagging on Max? Really? That’s uncalled for. Please don’t put Max and Lazlo in the same story. Max did more for rock radio in this town than most have ever thought of. Thanks for the “interesting” story though.

        • admin says:

          Good point, Randy…

But never having been much of a radio listener, I mostly heard Max in his twilight years.

Have you listened to Lazlo’s voice?

It’s kind of an odd, lazy drawl. Not much fire, very flat. Not very impassioned either. Guess I need to listen some more.

      • Lance The Intern says:

Why do you consider the sidekicks at the Buzz “sychophants”? What term would you use for T-Bone,Jake The Phone Snake,Gregg and Double J from Johnny Dare’s morning show?

Lazlo can only wish he was Max Floyd……

  9. 'rhahhararley says:

I think in terms of entercom…they did the right thing legally. A brawl breaks
out in their studios and glaze gets hurt or something bad happens then entercom
is party to a suit especially since they know there is potential for problems in
    advance.
Glaze… find other outlets…your business appears
appears to be doing well…go find some other outlets for your appearances and
move on. This type of case is very…very hard to win. and it appears neither
side wants that …so move down the line glaze.
Entercom has made it known that they are taking the side of their employees
(to protect themselves) and glaze should jut say okay…and go find other stations
    that will let him on.
    Still doesn’t matter….its a child’s game…..
    avoid hassles in life!

  10. 'rhahhararley says:

also…Harley predicts ratings for Lazlo to sink.
You don’t mess with the jewish mob (kosher nostra)!
And remember King of Sting? Glaze has friends in “high” places.
hope everything calms down…its just a stupid ego clash.

  11. 'rhahhararley says:

would anyone pay me to listen to the BUZZ?
seriously…never heard about the guy…but in the real world…he does have
an audience and he hates glaze.
ON radio you don’t have to look good….have you seen some of these
    jocks in person?

  12. whitten pell says:

After being away from KC for years I was only slightly aware of this Johnny Dare and was told how great he is on-air. Really? For small market radio he might be really great, but man is his show stale and lifted from one small element of the very famous Howard Stern Show. Howard however is bright, well-educated and worldly. Not so much Mr. Dare. He is the second KC disc jockey (Howard is not a disc jockey) the other being Mancow, that seem to turn up here as top level broadcasters. Huh?

In small town like KC oddly talent on air certainly is in place with Steve Kraske, Bill Shapiro, Chuck Haddick, and longtime voice Dick Wilson for example. I guess having a 4th tier rock guy like the what’s his name from Jackal seems to bring a love bone to Mr. Dare radio show. Really. So along with an odd, unbalanced 2th tier club owner I see Dare has reached the apex of his success….it does seem that he is smart enough to not try and play in the big pool of broadcasters and stay put in market 31 in media rankings. So that has to be handed to him with some respect.

    • Radio dude says:

      Mr Pell,
With the attitude towards Kansas City that you have, may I suggest you stay in your big, expensive and crime ridden market that you reside. We don’t want you back in good ole KC.
As for Dare, yes he was smart enough to stay in a market where he built his career and also be paid hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

I would not exactly label Kansas City as you did ” small town”. A city of close to 2 million people, that has the sports, arts and lifestyle we do, makes Kansas City very livable and a great place to reside.

      • whitten pell says:

if you are a “radio guy” you know KC is considered medium to small market….that is fact….overlooking my respect for many KC broadcasters is ok, if it makes you happy. Oddly in the end you make my point very well about Dare..he was smart and stayed where he could be what he is…

        • Radio dude says:

Let’s look at the definitions of radio markets
Major Markets are ranked 1 thru 20
Large markets ranked 21 thru 40
          Medium markets 41 thru 100
          Small markets 101 plus.
          Topeka is small market radio.
You still insult Kansas City with that label.

          • whitten pell says:

you insult folks by hiding behind some little moniker…real people with substance don’t need to hide and stand behind what they post. Be real and stand up, not hide.

          • the dude says:

Look, Radio Dude. CKMO is small potatoes. Now if you are a rube from South Dakota I am sure CKMO is a huge metropolis but most people know better.

      • whitten pell says:

sorry I made a big mistake KC is the 37th largest market overall, not 31 and is just a tad bigger that Mesa AZ. a suburb and just a tad bigger than Omaha…

        • Radio dude says:

          Hit a nerve did I?
Radio markets are defined by the Metro area not city area.
Nielson reports KC as market number 33.
Why don’t you just apologize for your comment and go back to large market.

          • whitten pell says:

So sorry you got upset about it appears a guy you idolize. Each to their own. Yes, I mixed two things, my first was media ranking and oop’s, I gave the market two more places up the ladder than is reality. On the second yes I used population just because. But I would trust that the Phoenix area is well above KC in ranking and in fact Omaha is about the same size as KC and each thought of about as much outside their home area. Both terrific places however for any that have been through them. But I like KC better however.

Odd about the nerve comment as you jumped right on two points and overlooked the majority of my opening response. That ole agenda as a fan, with the “stand by your fav radio guy”, I guess took over. Oddly again you in the end made my point about Dare being smart to stay put and I kind of think you don’t see that. Ok by me.

In closing, it would be nice to be strong enough and secure enough in your convections and opinions and not hide. Very hard to take one seriously that does that. Who knows if you even work in radio, sweep up, do overnights, given the phone book as your sales list or have a real post. Again, what is the issue not using your real name?

        • Radio dude says:

By your measuring stick ( city population rank) Atlanta GA ranks as Americas 40th largest city. Atlanta, another small market by your definition.

  13. 'rhahhararley says:

pell is right. this small town market likes mediocre talent.
Morning show at mix is good.
    funny/informative/entertaining.

    • whitten pell says:

these guys are far from mediocre..Steve Kraske, Bill Shapiro, Chuck Haddick, and longtime voice Dick Wilson. Very talented broadcasters, as is newsperson Bill Bradey at KMBZ.

    • Radio dude says:

Now there’s a confidence builder….Harley agrees with Pell.

      • 'rhahhararley says:

        not really radio dude.
you’re an old guy so we understand you run by the old
        rules.
there’s really not a lot of talent on kc radio….
outside of whb. the “talent on 610” is horrid as hearne
attests to. the talent on this brz (which I neer listen to) is
        horrible according to hearne.
in between rush and Hannity…no telent there but lots of lies.
thecountry stations have some good talent…but
kc radio is being taken over by internet radio like Pandora
sorry “dude” you need to get some cheaters or go to dr.
        sabates…..

        • admin says:

I don’t “attest” to the talent on 610 Sports being “horrid”

I’ve listened to the station recently and was pleasantly surprised

  14. Radio dude says:

    Witten
Sometimes anonimity is useful…..as 95% of the people on this site can attest.
If you will read my posts, I felt much more strongly about your labeling Kansas City small market than your Johnny Dare comments.
Kansas City is a thriving city with great attributes. The KC Royals in the World Series, the Chiefs, The Kaufman Center, Power and Light district, Kansas Speedway and a cost of living most can afford.
This is not a small town….by the way KC is twice the metro population of Omaha….not even close.

    • whitten pell says:

No hiding is for those with no conviction. Period. Now you need to stay focused as the topic is RADIO, not anything else. Does your boss have to remind you about focus as well? Now oddly you are getting ahead of yourself and why I am not sure. But please lets be factual.. KC has around 467,000 persons up only a few thousand from the 459,000 in last counting. Omaha has 434,000 up almost 30,000 from the last counting.

KC is way more active than Omaha for sure and a nice town with many assets, but it is not considered a “real leading player” in the arts, broadcasting, music and/or food…yet plenty of great things in each of the aforementioned categories are here and as good as anywhere. In music (jumping topics for your benefit) like a pal of mine likes to say there are great musicians in KC, but more talented folks riding the 7 line everyday (NY Subway from Queens) than in all the Midwest..

But please try as best you can and stay on the subject at hand and not wander off in some rant hiding behind a moniker. Be strong, be real and come out come out of hiding, so it can be known if you are of any real substance. Now before you get crazy I am not saying you are not of substance but who would know. In Texas (with 4 major media markets) they have a great saying used as endearment and well with a wink.. bless you’re heart…..

PS: While trying to appease your rambling and not staying on topic while a true Jewell, The Country Club Plaza is also not “world known” as many like to say. But it is known by some around the world. Big big difference.

      • Radio dude says:

Radio markets are measured by metro areas…not city areas.
Google largest Metropolitan areas and you will have your eyes opened.

        • whitten pell says:

the term you are looking for is called ADI…area of dominate influence…..I am aware of such things.. you wrote that Omaha was 1/2 the size not mentioning the ADI. I was responding to that….stay on point….

          • kansas karl says:

Rather than play population games ADI, DMA, TSA, Metro, let’s take a look at just the metro as defined by the ratings services.

The truth will set you free

            Nielsen
            Local Television Market Universe Estimates
Estimates as of January 1, 2015 and used throughout the 2014-2015 television season
Estimates are effective September 27, 2014
            Rank
            Designated Market Area (DMA)
            TV Homes
kc 31st with a DMA population of 923290
            omaha 74th 413250

radio has different counties in their metro survey area

            kc 34th 1668100
            omaha 75th 677000

I have sorrow in my heart for Mr. Pell’s clients, his posts are half truths compounded by a desire to show the world how ignorant he really is when it comes to ratings and market rankings. KC is a major market, Omaha is smack in the middle of the pack, been that way for more than a minute or two.

          • Radio dude says:

The term is Metro…not ADI. That term and measurement died years ago. The new term used by TV measurement is DMA…designated market area.

      • admin says:

        That’s fair, Whitten…

The Plaza doesn’t attract 300,000 people for its lighting ceremony either.

And worse yet, if the Plaza can’t figure out a way to truly distinguish itself and sort out its racism issue, it could be in trouble.

Deep doo doo is the expression, I think

    • whitten pell says:

Maybe if we start thinking ( like many on this site) That Kansas City has nothing to apologize for and we are a major city with great benefits we can create “it’s a great city” perception then we can let the rest of the country know how lucky we are to call Kansas City home.
Think small….achieve little. Think big…..achieve big.

Gotta agree with Radio Dude on Omaha, too, Whitten…

I think you’ve been gone too long or maybe hit your head trying to compare KC to Omaha in size. They do have a nice zoo though, but a far smaller market. As pretty much anybody familiar with the two cities – forget about media markets – knows.

  15. 'rhahhararley says:

It’s a good thing you don’t use your real name because you are way out of your element here.

And Whit, radio dude is right, media markets are not defined by the strict city limits but by the overall metropolitan area.

    Plain and simple

But Hearne, think as you will but reality like it or not, KC is not on anyone’s radar screen as being a important media market for all mediums…also in ratings, media buys (a big radio buy in KC would be anything north of $10k) marketing impact on product sales, etc…but still a good town with some good broadcasters…Mr. Dare is very good at taking 25 to 30 year old radio bits from AOR leaders like WMMR, Stern, the guys at WBCN and WNEW and making them work in a market that did not have the level of talent like Howard…..

I’m not trying to make KC more than it is, Whitt…

Just clarifying that RadioDude is right (by the way I know his true identity and trust me, he’s a heavy hitter).

He’s right in describing KC exactly as it’s measured as a media market- and that’s large, not small.

        Words matter.

And likening KC to Omaha is just plain silly.

Hey, but you guys appear to be having some fun, so knock yourself out!

beat glaze in the ncaa final four…and have analyzed the effect of all the
political and economic effect of decisions made in the missour I and Kansas
      and have been right on.
don’t doubt me…I just signed with a national political candidate for

  17. Stomper says:

Whitten; Always good to see new names commenting here, especially when they offer thoughtful comments with some level of substantiation to support their view.

While I can understand your perspective that using an alias indicates a lack of conviction, I have to agree with Radio Dudes comment that ” sometimes anonymity is useful… as 95% of the people on this board attest.” I can only speak for myself but I work in an industry , and a specific employer, where expressing my opinions ( usually on politics but a few other topics as well), using my real name would cause problems, not only for myself, but my co-workers as well. And by problems I mean potential income. In my case, my employer prefers my opinions be expressed anonymously.

I can’t speak for others here but if you have been a reader here for any length of time I think you would agree that Radio Dude, Orphan, Dude, CFP Cowboy, and even Harley among many others bring credible additions to the conversation. After enough time I think most readers can form an opinion of the basic mindset of most of these commenters. Most of us try to be polite in our offerings and rebuttals. Even those that write for KCC ( Calvin Sense, Rich Steele, etc.) have valid reasons imho, for writing anonymously. While Hearne might prefer that we all use our real names, the fact that many here might not comment at all if they were required to use their real name would cause the site to suffer.

So, I think to accuse those of us that comment anonymously as having no conviction is a touch broad, inaccurate, and unfair. You’re certainly well within your rights to discount our opinions but we don’t all walk in your shoes.

    • whitten pell says:

Kansas Karl has a severe reading comprehension issue…..way past you I already covered it is market 31 in ADI terms, but I was wrong again, as it keeps dropping now at market 35..that like market 31 or 33 (as radio dude wrote) makes it less than zero on a horizontal marketing level and a second buy as a rule on national vertically driven marketing programs, just facts not meant to hurt your feelings. And being so smug as to suggest you know how I feel. That is the topper! Go Kansas Karl, Go boy…..

    • the dude says:

Don’t sweat it man. A lot of homers here pop a vein when you call ckmo a small market or a cowtown. I am not from here so I have no problem with ckmo being flyover country or a cowtown with a downtown. It is what it is. CKMO is OK but not great.

    • kansas karl says:

Hey you are writing like this is all new, well marketing people in KC know we are in the middle not as cool as the coasts or as retarded, though Kansas is trying, as Texas, except for Austin. KC even in the Jazz age when all the greats played the whore houses on 12th, they were just stopping by in a nice town to get their chops together. KC is filling in it’s population donut hole, not as fast as the coasts but we will get there, KC is a city of suburban living and that won’t change easily. KC is not the fattest nor the skinniest we are right in the middle. We know we are behind the coasts when it comes to groovy DJ’s, we don’t care. What we do have is an educated hard working decidedly middle class population that is happy with the Plaza, are willing to pay for, with a bit of bitching Power and Light, 3 major league sports franchises, real museums with real art the list goes on and on.

I did not mention your feelings at all, don’t care, you are a wise ass from Texas who thinks he knows how media works, continue on with your second hand noise, we have heard it all before. You are the one who compared populations of Omaha and KC while chastising Radio Dude for not staying on subject, yet you dismiss your obvious Faux news style of no responsibility for what you have written yet 6 inches above.

This guy and Harley are bed mates, same style of noise with no ability to comprehend.

If Johnny Dare would have wanted to keep old man comic around he could have. He sees the buzz beating the rock in the ratings and realizes there is no need for old washed up has beens. If he is going to survive your old guard of Hearne and Glazier must go. It’s not about age. It’s about relevance. Johnny is seeing that. Too bad you guys can’t.

    • admin says:

      Easy Haha…

Nice of you to weigh in, but the behind the scenes on this is Johnny Dare doesn’t want to lose Craig and his comics. In other words, you know not of what you speak.

And in case you forgot to read the story, The Buzz wanted Glazer and his comics on too, but he was forced to choose between the two stations and went with The Rock.

      Read much?

  22. Young says:

If I were Craig I would be worried. Look at that poster! Young comics not scared to call him a racist. Taking him to task. Putting on shows in the crossroads. Nobody respects him anymore and his old friends like Dare have turned their back on him. He is officially over. If you were smart Hearne you would drop dead weight as well. See if these younger guys will write for you. You’re hitching your wagon to a sinking ship.

    • the dude says:

Glayzer may be a lot of things but I am not sure a racist is one of them.
You have facts to back this assertion up?

      • Lance The Intern says:

        The Dude:
I recall Glazer stating that “garbage, blight and crime” were code words for black people.
I believe this was in the Pitch article about Johnny Dare’s bar in Westport.
        Does that qualify as racist?

    • admin says:

      Easy Young…

Craig is still very much alive and kicking. And Stanford’s is far and away the leader in the comedy game.

Look, I understand your feelings about Craig. He’s never been a role model for me either, but he is an interesting gentleman with a knack for landing himself in some pretty outrageous situations.

      Is he young? Obviously not.

He is dating a pretty hot 23 year-old grrrl right now who is part African American…speaking of him being a racist.

  23. Young says:

    And check this…

I don’t listen but you guys are the wrong side of the fight.

  24. Hearne says:

Geez, what are the odds Lazlo had his minions wait until the actual discussion died down and had them drop in a little spin / hate on Glazer at the end?

Nice try, guys, keep up the good work!

  25. Hot Carl says:

Glazer was right about one thing…aFATra and Lazlo are two ugly sacks of crap. As the saying goes, they have faces made for radio.

  26. 'rhahhararley says:

I own this blog radio dude. the guys on here have passed their time.
Their ideas and beliefs are from the 90’s…the 1890’s!~
They’re wrong 95% of the time…they can’t back up any comment with
any facts or stats and they are just over their prime in terms of being in the
    know.
So Harley takes over because hearne won’t. Do a little googling about the
info some of the guys put on here. Watch the world and see what’s happening and
you can easily disqualify the attitudes and the information given
    on kcc.
Just last week…after years of chuck giving us fraudulent and wrong info on
death rates…hearne finally fact checks chuckles and finds chuckles rants of
hate/and disgusting vile language against every non white Christian has been
a lie. chuck isn’t fair..his info comesfrom right wing nuts like cashkill who hasn’t
seen a incidient where there wasn’t a conspiracy involved . Always something
sinister behind everything. Or he quotes pat Robertson…another old washed up
conservative who;’s time has come and gone.
Jr. is very smart…but he’s on the past side of time. His philosophies and beliefs
were fine in te 80’s…but the world has changed and so have the beliefs in the
    important issues of the day.
As far as being the most accurate in forseeing the future….picking the political
scene (I picked obamas vote range exactly while the resto f kcc picked romeny
to win just 3 days before the election)….having details…throwing in some fun
for these old guys…noo ne compare with Harley.
Radio dude can’t get his numbers straight. Is it 12 plus /16 plus/ 3-12 year olds///
    where did he come from?
    Steele…well what can’t or hasn’t be said.
valentine….artwork as bad as his articles.
Wilson…nice guy…but he’s been more wrong on here on the major stories he’s
written than anyone. The jewel theif …wrong. Sprint …..wrong (and he had
some inside information that only he knew)….elections…wrong.
So I take it upon myself to enhance these readers and the million others
that there is some correct info on kcc…proven facts…not a small time fox
    news on the internet.
And hearne always tries to prove me wrong…but he can’t
    I stay incognito…but everything i say is true. I’ll put money…
to back it up…and no one dared to deny me or put their money where their
    mouth is.
As far as glaze…he’s a showman…pitchman….super p.r. person who used
entercom to plug his company for FREE on a regular bass. Add it all up and
glaze probably gets 150k worth offree ads from the tv and radio he does
for free in kc. Smart man. Is his story stale and old.
same old stuff…bash the star/bash the star/bash phony radio ratings/bash
the royals/bash the chiefs….and wholeads the positivity of this town…
    HARLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m the most positive guy on here…proving p and l/sprint/the develoopeemnt
in Kansas is incredible…..that this town isonfire…
til chuck comes on and starts his racist chants against anyone not white
    like him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is a fun blog…but the people on here better learn real fast the world is
changing….3 years ago 60% of people were against gaymarriage…now its
67% in favor. Radio dude: admit radio has changed more in the last 5 years
than the last 20 years! Hearne…the newspaper industry has changed in the
last 5 years more than since Gutenberg printed on his first press.
And here’s Harley trying to explain that either we change or we die.
Sure its fun to read about lazzzzzzlo and glaze…but they’re old news gang.
glaze is entertasining and has some great stories from 40 years ago before
many were even born…and I keep the old guys on their toes as we watch
    the world change.
Read…watch…enjoy….smell the roses….see the world as it changes everyday…
because life is fleeting….but don’t worry too much. We’re all just here for
    a good time…but not a long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • admin says:

The most positive guy on here, Harley?

      Whatever you say…

      • 'rhahhararley says:

I have to correct you and the other writers on hereand it gets
        old.
        why…because you’re wrong.
and when I say you’re wrong and prove it.
when I tell my story and prove it…
the bys here say itsnot true then back off when I say put
your money where your mouth is.
I should have said “the most opinionated” and “the most
accurate” writer on kcc and the other blogs I write on.
but never fear…I stand behind what I write…because
Harley is right!!!!!! I can’t help being humble. I’ve
picked elections/sporting events/spoke the truth about
the stories on here…and to be quite honest been on target
        with my opinions.
remember…as hearne has said…if you see Harleys name you’re
not forced to read my comments.
but I’m right behind probably glaze in readership because
we tell it like it is and we’re not into british literary history
        or other boring subjects.
We write what people want to read because we’re now

    • admin says:

I think under the circumstances, he’s keeping it in his pants…

      Wisely, I might add

    • radio dude says:

For once, Glazer is playing it smart. We know he is reading every post here but has made no comment. He is best advised to stay out of this one.
No matter who (Glaze or Lazlo) is the main perpetrator of this verbal slug fest, Glazer has the most to lose.

Entercom owns 9 radio properties in KC reaching over 70% of the Metro population and has had 98.9 The Rock promote his comics and his clubs for free. One word from the GM and that puts a stop to Glazers free ride.

On the other side, I would think a station that just paid out $1,000,000 to a law student that The Buzz called “a porn star” on air, would tread a little more carefully when it comes to “labeling” Glazer.

      • Jess says:

“On the other side, I would think a station that just paid out $1,000,000 to a law student that The Buzz called “a porn star” on air, would tread a little more carefully when it comes to “labeling” Glazer.”

        Very Good point

I do not know if you seen the very public war of words between Lazlo and Scott Parks but I do not think that “treading carefully” is in Lazlo’s vocabulary. That dude is in his own world.

        • admin says:

I need to listen to Lazlo more often I guess, Jess…

I heard a 10 or 15 minute routine the other day that was about as lame and boring as it gets.

Parks is kind of a loser though, so it’d be funny to catch Lazlo’s rant. For the uninformed, KMBZ FM afternoon drive host Scott Parks plays in a local KISS cover band – makeup and all

  28. Minions says:

Funny you ask about lazlos minions when you hearne are here doing Craig’s work. You’re his minion.

    • admin says:

      Yeah, yeah, yeah…

Sure, sure, sure, whatever you Minions guys say.

BTW, did I mention I heard you all the other day putting people to sleep while going over some list of the five things that piss people off?

      How original.

      And how totally unhip.

      Allow me to share:

Lazlo is constantly losing his credit cards, ordering replacement cards, then finding the old ones and not knowing which of the five actually works.

So he was musing about what technique he should use when presenting his credit card to waiters, etc. Should he be honest and tell them he doesn’t know if the card is bad?

Tell you what, if I had to listen to that sort of drivel with friends, coworkers, strangers at a bar, I’d lose it. Beyond boring.

The only thing that made it worse were Lazlo’s sidekick suck ups who fed him the list of annoying things and then pretended to marvel at his answers.

I thought The Buzz was supposed to be a hip station, not the reincarnation of KUDL FM.

      But that’s just me.

      • radio dude says:

Admin…you are correct “that is just me”.
Let’s be clear, KCC posts are opinion . What we see in all the posts are each bloggers opinions……….not factual information.
Everyone thinks that their opinion is the way everyone else feels.
You were not entertained by Lazlo and The Buzz, yet the station ranks #1 in 25-54 persons (as posted by Old Media Chick). Whitten Pell was not a Johnny Dare fan, yet his morning show continues to be KC’s most listened to morning program.
Hence, the need for polls and research.

Speaking of research, I see March PPM’s are out. Look forward to that article.

oh radio dude what would we do without you.
so stupid and mundane. Have you not realized that these ratings are pure
fantasy. but you loe ’em like hearne.
Old guys listen to radio….you probably listened to that classical music station
    that was a mess.
There are facts and here are some that Harley knows:

HEARNE HAS NO IDEA ABOUT ADVERTISING RATINGS!
RADIO DUDE IS AN OLD OLD MAN ….
CHUCK HATES NON WHITES…DIGS HOLES…AND TRIES TO MAKE
PEOPLE THINK HE’S IVY LEAGUE WHEN HE’S NOT.
GLAZE MADE A MISTAKE….BUT BOY DID HE TAKE THOSE ENTERCOM
dudes for a ride. They gave him free airtime )of course most of them have
nothing interesting tosay in the first place)….they gave him millions of dollars
worth of free advertising for his comics and his business. How many businessesmen
    would not have loved that.
All that free time…all the jokes…on the #1/#2 rated shows in the city….and he
had them around his finger…..letting him talk 80% of the time promoting his
    comics.
I’ve said glaze is a very smart businessman. Who else could get tha kind of
FREE ADVERTISING TO MILLIONSOF LISTENERS. In terms of what that might
cost it would be millions. He’d take the mic over and run dare and the rest of
those jocks. And he did it for free.
Salutes to glaze…he took advantage of the situation …he played these
jocks like a fiddle….pushed his comics and all for a few hundred bucks
    a month.
Give credit where credit is due. The king of sting has done it aain. He robbed
time and valuable promotional announcements from these stations.
And they fell for it because glaze gave them everything they wanted…sex..
    excitement….funny comics…some big names….some fun skits…and someone to
fill up the time those stations had no way to fill up.
They should buoild a statue of glaze and his car right in that radio groupslot with glaze waving goodbye with the words inscribed “SO LONG SUCKERS”
They guy got milllions and millions of free dollars from the stations in town…
how could glaze lose inthis situation.
He does the same with tony and hearne. Nothing interesting except glaze
articles where all the readers go for some fun and excitement.
Outside jrs. british lit essays (boring) zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..glaze offered
    some laughs and real entertainment.
And he wins in the end.
good luck glaze…and as for radio dude…I’m sure you’re really looking
forward to those march ppm’s. Now you’re living a real exciting life there
dude. Maybe get some legos and build a radio tower like the real ones.
That might be more entertaining tha running to the mailbox for those
march ppms. and it’s better than reader tv guide. HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  30. Insider says:

    Check the numbers.

    Lazlo #1 18-34 18-49 and 25-54

    Afentra #1 18-34 18-49 and 25-54

I bet their bonus was bigger than you’re entire ad revenue.

    • Radio dude says:

      Really.
Buzz mornings beat Johnny in morning drive?
Can you show us those numbers please….or are you going to just make unsubstantiated claims?

      • admin says:

Well, I was told by a very high up source that Dare still rules the roost in the men demos.

The Buzz does equally well with men and women, so if those numbers are correct – and I think they are – we’re talking “adults”

    • 'rhahhararley says:

you had nothing to do with anyone’ ssuccess!
GIVE CREDIT TO THE NEW GUY WHO TOOKTHE
      PLACE OVER!

  31. In the know says:

Sorry fellas, ask a friend in any sales department. Not only did Afentra beat Johnny this time but the last couple of times as well. I can’t publish them but you could ask anyone who works at any station.

That million dollars seems to be well worth it.

    • Radio dude says:

Not what the word is….not in 25 54 Persons.
      I am from Missouri….show me!

      • Radio dude says:

Let me add, that is not to take away the great success. The Buzz is experiencing awesome success. Not my personal taste, but obviously my tastes are in the minority. Three months in a row and top station…that is solid. The station will probably get even stronger with all the events and concerts this summer.

      • 'rhahhararley says:

let me say this from Harley…who loves the underdogs.
for years you were compared to the guy at rock.
You continued to put your brand of radio on the air.
        you took some hits.
        you came back with balls.
you came back with a new energy.
I don’t listen to yourstation but congrats and toppling the
        guy with secrets!

      • 'rhahhararley says:

the owners of all those sttions are probably glad they gave the
        boot to their previous gm.
with him in charge it was one huge mess….
congrats to Lazlo and his wife
they took a station and kicked the gu with the secret’s a$$!
        (which he probably liked).

    • admin says:

In adults or persons, not in men…

      Johnny is the Testosterone Kid.

That said, adults is a more highly prized demo than men overall.

Obviously some advertisers may target mostly men…say like, Bazooka’s

  32. Know says:

Last two months KRBZ #1 25-54 P 6a-10a not my cup of tea either but it’s true. Just checked.

    • 'rhahhararley says:

thanks…another miss by our leader and radio dude.
Bet they’re having a good time tonite at chuckie cheese then shall we
say…”going down on the ratings points

    • Jess says:

That really does not surprise me….I love the music…just do not like the main on air talent. But, I listen 99% of the time to the buzz, when I am listening to radio and not mp3. 98.9 the rock is turning in to the oldies station, they need to step up their game.

      • admin says:

        I know what you’re saying, Jess…

However, that’s kind of the way rock radio stations seem to grow old. KY102 used to play current artists. But as those acts grew long in the tooth and or disbanded and or no longer had any quality new music, they shifted to oldies.

I interviewed an afternoon drive jock on The Rock more than 10 years ago who was pissed because the station was playing too much classic rock then even.

Johnny’s pushing 50 (with Lazlo possibly not that far behind) and there are fewer quality heavy duty bands out there with quality current material.

And with KY dead and gone, it’s incumbent upon The Rock to cater to its older listeners as well.

The $64 million question: who will the next Johnny Dare be?

Or will there even ever be one?

One thing’s for sure, it’s not Lazlo.

And I’m not talking stylistically, I’m referring to the next 300 pound gorilla. An iconic local personality able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

  33. Yourhatred says:

I’m no Lazlo lover by any means. I work in the building with him. Fine guy. Pretty quiet but to say he hasn’t left his mark on KC like Dare is just you’re disliking him. His ratings have been on par (if not better) with Dares for a few years now.

Go out tonight and ask a bartender or waitress to name a local DJ. It’s either (probably) Dare, Lazlo, Afentra in that order and you won’t have to press them.

None of them would be a blip in a major market but here? They all have done very well. Made a lot of money and made Entercom loads of money.
