Glazer: They…Could…Go…All…The…Way!

mlbf_36845543_th_45It’s on…

The Royals smashed the San Francisco in game two at Kaufman Stadium last night. We got a bit of ‘tough guy’ stuff going on out there.

Yep, Giants pitcher Hunter Strickland wants a piece of Salvador Perez. The Royals tagged him and he got pissed at the way our guys crossed home plate, or so it seemed. Strickland’s a big boy and looked like he wanted to fight. Maybe next time, but hey it was fun.

The Royals did what they needed to do.

THEY BROUGHT THEIR BATS.

Royals starter Ace Ventura did his job and  the Royals bullpen proved once again they are the best in baseball. In fact they are the main reason the Royals may just win a World Series.

YOU CAN’T SCORE ON THOSE THREE GUYS.

Infante homered. Huh? Yep. Billy Butler is batting .500 so far. Huh? Lorenzo Cain continues to remind us of Amos Otis, a true star.

Yep, the Royals are looking bad ass again.

What will happen in San Francisco?

628x471The pitching match ups favor KC. The relief pitching favors KC.

And look out, these crazy unheard of nobodies from a city with zero baseball pedigree this millennium may end up the WORLD CHAMPIONS YET.

IT’S OVER. IT’S OVER. IT’S OVER,

Nobody knows what the hell will happen next. That’s what makes it fun.

The big ride that nobody predicted continues. Except the talk show host on 610 Sports who bet 500 bucks on the Royals winning the world series back in June at 30 to 1. Yep.

so who made that bet? that was some leap of faith.

  2. Jim a.k.a. BWH says:

Experience, and now home field advantage, favors the Giants. KC needs to find a way to take at least one in SF so they can get back to The K. Even if they are down 3-2 when they get back here, I like their chances. But, I fear the Giants are going to wrap it up in the bay. Giants know they have Game 5 in the bag with MB taking the mound. It’s all about the next two games.

  3. Kerouac says:

Smashed is a bit liberal… a 2-2 until the bottom of the 6th inning doesn’t do justice the original adjective. ‘Smashed’ (and mashed) would be what Strickland was going to do to Perez until Salvador headed back that direction – south – behind a bevy of teammates.

Royals season ended last night, the home portion thence in entirety Sunday… at least KCindy has a post season win hold onto now, if not resolution their ‘wait till next year part 30’ appends. They keep this up, the Chiefs (46) & Cubs (108) will feel the breath upon their necks.

Right out of the box – BOOM – SF lowered it on the overhyped Ventura, who looked more like dear Jesse caught in headlights than an Ace – in the hole 1-0, just like that. Was do or die for KCindy, and they survived by chance, lived to die yet another day.

Now the crowd (well, they call it one in the midwest… just 40,446? ‘America’s Biggest Loser’ must have been on tv. Had to reduce capacity a few years back just to make it look like the stadium was full.) Ont o that that City by the Bay where Bennett left his heart, Kerouac too – San Francisco, ‘City of Champions’ – since way back when (have been in a bit of a dry spell of late – no ‘World Championship’ since [ drumroll ] 2012.) GIANTS have had to increase seating there since AT&T park opened BUT – enough about baseball’s finest team and America’s city, same (with apologies to San Diego.)

The second half Superbowl 1 will play out this weekend, GIANTS slight lead 9-8 as the Packers same 14-10 will go the way the Chiefs in January ’67 – “back to the cornfields” as SE Chris Burford lamented, post game thence.

Game one scored an 8.0, worst rating ever for a World Series, if I’m correct, while local viewership, explicably, was enormous.

      • Kerouac says:

I know Kauffman isn’t enormous, but the apathy (or is it an lack of fund$) appears, well, GI-normous… as for rest of the country, if it isn’t the Yankees or Dodgers or Red Sox, even the GIANTS (ditto the Cardinals) can’t manage carry the slackers from KC… perhaps had it been a ‘Show Me State’ showdown STL vs @KC, might have been more local interest.

        • some thoughts says:

Glazer….when they win “they’re going all the way…whoo hooo!”’ when they lose..”see, they suck, I told you so.” I’m think he may have bad knees for all the band wagon jumping/getting off.
I hope the Royals win just so Kerourac can shove it up his ass. I don’t know if you are a troll or the world’s biggest asshole. I’m guessing you’re both.
Midwest fly over or not, who the fuck cares. People are now noticing KC and the country is rooting for the Royals.
Who would have figured this in July?

          • Kerouac says:

Having a bad 29 years / nigh on 3 decades, are you?

“People are now noticing KC and the country is rooting for the Royals.”

            – oh, the humanity… right after Paul referenced this ‘World Series’ getting the worst rating ever – do you read by way your bile duct?

            Like Pavlov’s dog…

            🙂

    • Lance The Intern says:

      Just 40,446? AT&T Park has a seating capacity of”just” 41,503…

    • Lance the Intern says:

Hey Kerouac- Looks like the Royals have 2 wins now….Right out of the box- BOOM-the Royals took the lead and never looked back. You may be right though…The series could end on Sunday.

  4. KCMonarch says:

I’m somewhat surprised HC hasn’t penned a story on what the Royals’ success has dmeant for the local fish wrap.

Dead tree media is dying a slow death but copies of the KC Star are being grabbed up like they were free condoms in the Castro District.

    Nostalgia perhaps?

    • paulwilsonkc says:

KCM, I went to Carthage last weekend, my old home town, for the Maple Leaf celebration. All my old classmates come back and it’s a wall to wall party along the parade route at all the stately, old mansions.
The former fire chief asked that I being them FOUR copies of the KC Star that announced we were going to the WS. I went to 11 stores and I have no idea how many machines, at 10am, when I got his call, and managed to find three papers. They printed and extra 50,000 that morning and they were still sold out.

      • harley says:

        maple leaf celebration.
Damn…I can’t believe I didn’t put that on my social calendar.
        I can’t believe I missed that.
Lets see …they print 50,000 extra copies in the morning. And
        they’re all gone.
Did glaze grow up and go to school in carthage?
to me those numbers seem a little shall we say “exagerrated’?
anyway…glad the sold 50,000 copies of the paper…
good for the revenue of that town!!!!!
        zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

        • paulwilsonkc says:

          WRONG AGAIN you stupid fuk. This is from the biz section of the Star on the 24th;

Suppliers have been scrambling to deliver the goods, including The Kansas City Star. Thursday’s edition heralding the trip to the World Series sold briskly in vending boxes, at groceries, convenience stores and other locations.

“I live up north and went to six different places and they were all sold out,” said Tommy Hottovy, a former Royals pitcher who picked up copies at the newspaper’s offices downtown on Thursday.

Publisher Mi-Ai Parrish said The Star printed twice as many copies for street sales as usual, expecting that to keep up with demand. It didn’t.

The presses revved up again Thursday morning to print 52,000 extra copies that makeshift crews delivered around town as well as the stadium.

“The players wanted copies,” Parrish said.

Just stop it! You know nothing about sports!

  6. chuck says:

Hey KERO! Tony Bennet is fu*kin loaded. I think he meant to say he left his “Tart” in San Francisco. She was probably a Pre Op Tranny and now he can’t find him.

You Know You Live In San Francisco When …

Your co-worker tells you s/he have 8 body piercings but none are visible.

When someone says TENDERLOIN – you don’t think of steak. You think of danger.

You take a bus and are shocked at 2 people carrying on a conversation in English.

You never bother looking at the MUNI line schedule because you know the drivers have never seen it.

You have a very strong opinion about where your coffee beans are grown and can taste the difference between Sumatra and Ethiopian.

A really great parking space can move you to tears.

You know that anyone wearing shorts in April is just visiting from Ohio.

Your child’s 3rd grade teacher has two pierced ears, a nose ring and is named “Breeze.” And, after telling that to a friend, they still need to ask if the teacher is male or female.

You are thinking of taking an adult class but you can’t decide between yoga, aroma therapy, conversational mandarin or a building your own web site class.

You haven’t been to Fisherman’s Wharf since the first month you moved to SF, and you couldn’t figure out how to drive to Coit Tower if your life depended on it.

A woman walks on MUNI with live poultry. You don’t notice.

You think any guy with a George Clooney haircut must be visiting from the midwest.

You know that any woman with a George Clooney haircut is not a tourist.

You keep a list of companies to boycott.

next time the royals face MB, he won’t have the same success. bet on it.

    • the dude says:

Wanna lay some real money on that, bub?
Not imaginary bitcoins or harlinator money, but REAL MONEY.

      • harley says:

        HARLEY! HARLEY! HARLEY! HARLEY! HARLEY!

trouble getting going today as we celebrated a great royals
victory. Regardless of what shoe dog/herne/
dude/and kerowacky say this has been a blast.
KC is alive again. Last night spoke with one of the top
movers and shakers and he said this city is
        about to take off again.
Finally this town has something to smile about and out comes
shoedog/kerowacky to try to spoil a little
good news that this town desperately needs.
Major development is being planned along that train route
tht the papers haven’t mentioned. Apartments/redeveloopement etc. is being spurred by this
train (although when I read hearne or the other naysayers
you’d think this town was dying). Kemper is being discussed…new ideas are being brought to reality….at 51st and
main van trust is adding a huge new complex…
so whats the sad sacks of kcc talking about?
Lets build on the civic uplifting this baseball team has
brought us. Who cares if America watched this game shoedog?
This town has discovered a new sense of enthusiasm whether
        we win or lose.
Negativity…it kills the fun all over!
As far as chuckles the sad clown …he should know better
than to steal jokes. Those were lifted from another site. He’s not funny.
Now as far as the royals….lets hope they take 2 out of 3
at least in san fran and come home to win it all.
        and glaze….remember…
        ITS OVER…ITS OVER…ITS OVER….
get your boy jj walker out to san fran and lets put some
dy o mite in those royals bats this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
        go royals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

        • harley says:

          question of the day…
ARE HEARNE AND HARLEY THE SAME PEOPLE?
          stay tuned for the answer!

          • admin says:

No need to stay tuned, I’ll set the record straight here and now:

            The answer is, no!

          • harley says:

problem with youhearneis that I continue
to make you and shoedog be proven wrong
            again and again.
            And you can’t take it.
I hope you keep this fair ….you’re
            disseminating wrong information thru these
            writers…..and that’s censorship…I hope
you will keep my comments on the
            blog….its only fair.
            I give information…no b.s….and if someone
wants to refute them I invite it all the
            time.
But they can’t. So many stories and so many
wrong quotes and data have ben allowed
            to go unretracted.

          • admin says:

I told you that you can have one shot at calling the shoe dog out on what he writes.

            So make it good.

Then if he or someone else challenges you, you can respond.

            That’s fair.

Try getting the Star – or anybody else – to publish a dozen letters to the editor…let alone about a single subject
