Don’t tell anyone, but the name of that new video bar just off the lobby of the Uptown Theater at 37th and Broadway is…INDUSTRY VIDEO BAR.
NO “the” ahead of it, just “Industry.
“It’s about the feeling that you get when you go in there,” says Uptown main man and Industry co-conspirator Larry Sells. “It’s an industrial look. We’ve got new lights, new furniture, new everything.”
Starting with a massive 12 foot by 6 foot screen on the large wall opposite the bar, serviced by a high def projector.
What to expect? Think theme nights.
“Yeah, we’ll have a comedy night, a movie night, a dance night,” Sells says. “What’s nice is that everything is programable, so we can have all sorts of themed events. And it’s great for karaoke, too.”
Additional amenities in the new club range from a smart-looking new wooden floor to replace the old, sticky carpeting of concert and events past and loads of cutting edge art and adornments.
The new club will be open seven nights a week until 1:30 a.m. and will be available to Uptown Theater concert and event goers on a case-by-case basis.
“So the deal is, the Nowhere Bar is now a video bar and the management team includes the guys from Hamburger Mary’s and the Uptown. And part of their deal is they’re helping with the redecorating and everything – they’ve got a great eye.”
ETA on the Grand Opening; sometime in the next two to three weeks.
