Donnelly: It All Comes Down to This for Sporting KC

Bundle up kiddos…

Sporting Kansas City‘s Saturday night showdown with the Houston Dynamo is going to be a frigid affair, with temps expected to dip into the 20s by game time.

The final game in the home-and-away series sold out in a matter of hours, and then the limited standing room tickets that were released were also gobbled up in record speed.

The first game at Houston ended in a 0-0 draw, so whichever club wins this one is through to the MLS Cup.  And if KC is victorious, Sporting Park will play host to the biggest game due to Sporting possessing the highest point total of the remaining four teams.

That would be a trip, eh?  If KC does win, you better get on your smartphone about two seconds after the final whistle to try and get your tickets for the Cup.

So it all comes down to this – one game, at home, against KC’s biggest rival and the team that has knocked the boys in blue out the past two seasons.

And if you were lucky enough to score a ticket to this Saturday’s showdown, you might want to get in your seat a little early.  Sporting CEO Robb Heineman has recently made some comments on Twitter alluding to some special pre-game festivities planned for the night.

  1. the dude says:

Come on boys, play like it means something to ya.
Don’t let these thugs in cleats advance to the final.

  2. Hot Carl says:

Not looking forward to the cold but I hope we kick the shit out of Houston. Hate those guys.

  3. Mysterious J says:

Everyone should try to be there early, but don’t stress about the scheduled 6:30 kickoff. For some reason NBCSN is allowed to dictate start times, then push them back 20 minutes for their pregame…because nothing builds excitement for low rated soccer on TV than people TALKING about soccer?
