Whinery: The Panopticon is Here! The NSA Spy Scheme

946494_10151466351241130_1717641890_nIs anyone really surprised that it doesn’t matter who the President is when it comes to abuse of power?

The revelations coming out today about the National Security Agency‘s (NSA) spying on Americans – which coincidentally leaked out on the 64th anniversary of Orwell‘s “1984” – show that every communication Americans engage in is being recorded and catalogued.

All the media companies – not just Verizon but Apple, Google, Sprint, et al – are under “secret court orders” to help gather, record and turn over those records to the Government. You don’t even have to be suspected of any wrongdoing.

EVERYTHING IS BEING MONITORED!!!

I read the “Puzzle Palace” by James Bamford during undergrad at Park College in the early 90’s. Which is a chronicle of the surveillance capabilities and goals of NSA. A very chilling read which laid out everything that is happening now.

the+police+every+breath+coverTo make a long story short, we no longer live in anything that even vaguely resembles a “Free Country.” Government has become the stalker that the Police sang about in their smash hit, “Every Breath You Take.” Check out the lyrics, if you don’t already know them. Its precisely what the Federal government is doing to we “serfs and vassals.”

And its been going on for a very long time.

Right now the citizens of Turkey are rioting and protesting the government there wanting to destroy a park and replace it with a shopping mall. I know, that there’s more to it than that, but that’s how it started.

Meanwhile in the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave” we’ve been stripped of our privacy, taxed and regulated to death and will soon no longer be in control of our own healthcare decisions. And for the most part, as long as we have our “bread and circuses” we’re just sitting there and allowing the Government to destroy the entire Bill of Rights.

stop_terrorism_by_caglarcity-d3rgz00What’s happening in this country is a great tragedy and it’s bi-partisan- no political party is to blame. Our leaders are all in on it and working together to strip away every freedom Americans are endowed with. All in the name of “Safety, protecting the Homeland or stopping Terrorists.”

I don’t know about you, but I would rather have my rights as an American- even if I have to worry about a Terrorist attack- than live where everything I do is recorded, scrutinized, and spied upon.

*******

Editor’s Note: For your convenience the lyrics to “Every breath You Take” are as follows:

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I’ll be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I’ll be watching you

Oh can’t you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I’ll be watching you

Since you’ve gone I’ve been lost without a trace
I dream at night, I can only see your face
I look around but it’s you I can’t replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep calling baby, baby please…

Oh can’t you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I’ll be watching you

Every move you make
Every step you take
I’ll be watching you

Are you getting paid by the column inch? Or by how much misinformation you disseminate? Sting has consistently said the song is about the ugly side of love, written during the dissolution of his marriage, that reflected his jealousy and lack of control over his ex.

Trust me – your government doesn’t love you. Never has, never will.

WHAT? you’d take the chance of another huge terrorist attack with 3000 american
deaths just to protect someone seeing the phone calls you make? Are you serious.
Do you remember we are at war whinery? Yes war…the war you’re boy george
    w. lied to get us into. The attack that george w. failed to protect us against after
he received information that america was goingto be attacked with terrorists
    flying planes into buildings.
From what i read the government just got phone numbers…not conversations.
This way when they found a phone number linked to a terrorist they could
match that phone number to whoever he was communicating with.
I don’t haveanything to fear from the government. They could do my calls.
Nothing to worry about on my end.
They’ve stopped hundreds of terrorist attacks….
i’d risk a few phone numbers to save thousands of americans in an attack.

And for this you deserve neither liberty or security.
They are storing EVERYTHING, you don’t seem to grasp (and you obviously never will) how far down the rabbit hole this goes.
And praytell oh wise one, with all this spying on everyone why was the government not able to stop the Boston attacks? Makes all this spying pretty much useless if they can’t stop these things from happening.

  3. the dude says:

Can we start calling you Capt. Obvious now because they have been doing this for a while. Bush let it be known that FISA was something he wiped his ass with after his daily morning constitutional. You think any other administration is going to quit doing it after it is started? That’s how government works until someone goes in AND STOPS IT.

  4. david says:

“we’ve been stripped of our privacy, taxed and regulated to death and will soon no longer be in control of our own healthcare decisions.”

    Hyperbole much?

“Implementation won’t much affect the 78 percent of Americans currently covered through Medicaid, Medicare, or employer group health plans. It will make some people who currently buy individual coverage worse off. But only 5 percent of Americans get insurance through the individual market, which is already hugely dysfunctional. Three times as many Americans are currently uninsured, and they can only stand to gain from Obamacare implementation, even if it does not go smoothly.”

Doesn’t really sound like ‘no longer being in control of our healthcare decisions’, but that statement keeps your cred with the right wingers.

  5. smartman says:

Somebody just let me know when The Revolution starts and how we are supposed to recognize the enemy.

I gotta go clean my guns and inventory the ammo.

If anybody at the NSA or Justice Department is reading this…. Kiss My #ss and Lick My Balls. You choose which to do first.

  6. legendaryhog says:

    Fuck everything.

  7. mike says:

I disagreed with some of my fellow conservatives by being against the Patriot Act when it was implemented. I could see problems like this coming at some point and now they have. We are forgetting what we are fighting for in the first place if we allow our freedom to be slowly taken away as a shortcut to fighting off the enemy. There should have to be probable cause and a warrant to spy on American citizens.

    • the dude says:

Yeah, but the simpleton republicrats were beating that hollow drum telling people “You are either with us or against us” when it came to that kind of crap and very few people except for a handful like Rep. Paul had the intestinal fortitude to say it wasn’t so.
