Sounds Good: RockFest, Cowboy Indian Bear @ LAC, Talib Kweli @ Granada

So much to do, so little time…

Everyone’s favorite team (to hate), the Yankees, are at The K for a few games.

There’s something called RockFest going on at Liberty Memorial.  Not sure exactly what the deal is, but I’m told there will be boobs.  So if you’re into those you might want to take a looksee.

And of course, there’s some good music happening always around here…

Friday, May 10th

Cowboy Indian Bear at the Lawrence Arts Center

This indie-pop band has been traveling on the east coast playing gigs lately, but they return home for a show in support of their recently released album, Live Old, Die Young.  The opening band, Spirit is the Spirit, goes on at 7:30, so get out early hipsters!  I’m told that CIB will  be performing as a 9-piece band for this throwdown, which should be kind of cool.  Plus if you’ve never seen a show at the Arts Center, you should check it out. And yes, they serve beer there.

Talib Kweli at the Granada in Lawrence

This old-school hip hopper was one half of the influential group Black Star along with Mos Def.  He swings through Lawrence about once a year, and always delivers a good show.  This time around he should have a full band in tow to back his thoughtful lyrics and intelligent rhymes.
