Glazer: Scribe Worries About ‘Mighty Quinn’ & Sets Sites on Weekend Ahead

It’s football picks time again…

I know, I know, everyone is waiting to see if Brady Quinn can do the almost impossible for the Chiefs and win.

And I don’t mean just Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay, but the rest of the season.

Let’s say Brady’s a solid quarterback – something he hasn’t yet been in the NFL – that means a 7-9 or 6-10 season for the Chiefs. We already have four losses and just the one win. So if Brady does OK, we win nothing and draft about 14th.

Now comes the big question, do the Chiefs follow the Colts model of “Just lose, baby?”

I felt the Colts may have dumped a game or two, like letting Todd Haley (remember him) come back and win one last season. They had a big lead in that game and somehow let the lowly Chiefs catch up and win. Suspicious.

Be that as it may, my thought is as it has been, is that Clark Hunt should be in a job search for the new general manager right about now. Hire an existing, veteran quarterback if at all possible. Money talks.

There are at least four or five unhappy quarterbacks out there who are top 15. Get one.

Your new general manager and Hunt can decide later on a real head coach. So there’s lots of work to be done and if you don’t get your quarterback – and we know many DO NOT WANT TO PLAY HERE AT THIS TIME – then you must draft near the top.

Meaning LOSE NOW.

Some names that are maybe’s include Tony Romo (likely available soon) and maybe Phillip Rivers.

The Chiefs have some real talent and with a good quarterback they could compete.

As you can now see Peyton Manning is still outstanding, so this division is not so bad.

I don’t like the Chiefs/Tampa game, with four points, yikes I’d likely take the Chumps, but it’s a no bet.

Alabama should spank MU, KU loses but maybe covers. K-State should take out Iowa State and cover the six points.

So, come on without, come on within, YOU’VE NOT SEEN NOTHING LIKE THE MIGHTY QUINN (Brady’s theme song)….

COLLEGE FOOTBALL:

Alabama -15 OVER MU (TEASE WITH)

Florida -3 over Vanderbilt (tease with above)

K-State -6 over Iowa State

PRO FOOTBALL:

Atlanta -3 over Oakland (tease)

New England +3 over Seahawks (tease with above)

Cinncinati -2 over Cleveland

I like the Bama / Fla
What up with WVA -4 V. TX Tech that looks to easy.

Even if the Chiefs were to go 1-15 and end up with the first overall draft pick, I have zero faith in the ability of this organization to take a “can’t miss” college QB and turn him into an impact player on the next level. This organization has a poor track record when it comes to both evaluating players and developing them into winners. The front office needs an overhaul and quite likely the system they’ve been using all these years as well. I don’t want to see Chiefs just “mail it in” in order to get a high first-round draft pick.

The Chiefs have too many good players to go 1 and 15 in my opinion, but your right, they could screw up Gino Smith in one season.

The Chiefs would have to do what Washington did to get Gino’s Pizza, three 1st rounders and some other picks with maybe a player.

Glaze is probably right, we have to pounce on a free agent QB while Derrick, Brandon et al are still young.

      🙂

Here is a really interesting article from a local “scribe” who explains our consistant devotion to losing teams.

It’s important to own your failures and I am 4 bets down to this point in the season.

    Worst ever. 80.00 down.

    I’m gettin it back. 🙂

I like Glaze’s bets. Cincy should feast on the Browns and New England is hitting thier stride with the RUNNING game. Ridell fumbled late last week, but they won, so he will get 20 carries again, which sets up Tom’s play action (And covers for that weak line) again. Russel Wilson, we hardly knew ye.

Here are my loser shots, which I hope will get me bact close to even. 🙂

I like Philly to kill Detroit by 10, they are only 3.5 favorites at home, take the Eagles.

The over under on that game is 47.5 and I am taking the over. Philly and Detroit both have been unable to light it up so far and this week they are due, Detroit is rested, their defense sucks and Megatron will roll. Reid will finally run Le McCoy and keep Mike Vick to one look outs. McCoy goes crazy and the Eagles win by 7.

I am with Glaze on the Bengals, they are -2 at Cleveland and I think they get ’em by 7.

That is 3 bets, but here is my break even winner. (You guys will laugh me outta the room with this one.) Kansas City is a 4 point underdog in Tampa. I really think Quinn is an average NFL QB. Tampa’s defense is terrible (Except G McCoy) and the CHIEFS WIN!!!

An AVERAGE NFL QB is so much better than Cassel, that Romeo can run Charles 25 times, get 120 yards. Quinn will get 2 TDs against a desultory D with 240 yeards and one INT. The D will play better (Yes even better.) because the QB position affects everyone from the Parking lot attendants to the players. They will know they can win.

    CHIEFS WIN!!

Ok, I am ready to be humiliated.

    🙂

Oh yeah, the Chiefs are 4 point dogs.

Chuck good breakdowns…Chiefs should win…but on the road, in Florida, I think they are like 2-30 in that state for the last 15 years or so…but the Chiefs have way more talent if it shows up..again correct on what a strong quarterback brings…look at the Colts with and then without Manning…good example…I think Dallas may be done with Tony Romo…he is a large step up here…could be a B or maybe better quarterback with some of what Chiefs have…Chiefs in bad spot, best bet end up with a 2 or 3 and 14 or 13 record…get a number one pick…likely they won’t do that…so it will be more of the same…here…like you pointed out…we are used to it…look at St. Louis last night, my God, that’s what a winning franchise looks like, the Royals with a better team would have gone down in that spot 99 times out of 100….we just don’t have that mojo here….it sucks.

  6. paulwilsonkc says:

I’m not a sports fan, but good lord it was great seeing that pantheon of an SEC powerhouse MU get the Deliverance treatment by Bama.

    • Craig Glazer says:

yeah right you are…the teams that have left the big 12 are all doing not so well, MU, Neb,Colorado(boy do they suck) A and M…our new guys WV and TCU are both looking strong, both have been ranked all year in the polls…nice…the Big 12 sure bounced back…

  7. Craig Glazer says:

This could be a big day for the ‘scribe’….with two wins we move to 19-10 and have come back to have a sparkling national record, fit for any top football analyst anywhere…but its only Sunday morning..I feel good about Atlanta covering the tease…New England is a bit tougher as is Cinn over Cleveland, but we’ll see. I know All of you are pulling for me to do this(not)…

K-State sure is in position to play Alabama for the title in a few months, they need to go clean..tough one, but the numbers would favor them for the national title game over their only real challengers Florida and Oregon…if they can go clean…likely Oregon will go undefeated…so it may come down to those two…K State has a rough sched though…we’ll see.

  8. Kerouac says:

Think things can’t get any worse KC? Here’s how bad, i.e., bass ackwards things are with the Chiefs: Clark Hunt has offered Scott Pioli a two-year contract EXTENSION

If dreams do come true then so can nightmares…

  9. Kerouac says:

Hey – maybe this means Cassel will sign a big, new contract too (pass the cyanide)…

  11. Jerry says:

Can’t wait to read your sorry bullshit about today’s Chiefs game Craig. Go ahead and rail. You seem to know more than the Hunt’s do. At least they’ve got something at stake. All you’ve got is your usual b.s., a bad wig and hopes to keep banging easily impressive trailer trash not to mention that G. chick from the left coast that’s almost getting too old and big for you.

  12. the dude says:

    BRADY QUINN, FTW!!!!!!

  13. Craig Glazer says:

Juice of course, but I didn’t break even this season so far…way up… also depends on which game you bet large on…all games are not the same bet…right…why do you want me to lose dude…

    Been a great start…we’ll see…

  14. Craig Glazer says:

PS Facts guy its 10 per cent…and on parlays zero per cent… teases vary…
