New Jack City: Razzies a New Career Low for Adam Sandler

Sunday’s annual Razzie Awards honoring the previous year’s worst on film brought forth a new cinematic low…

Normally held on the night prior to the Oscars, the Golden Raspberry Foundation this year moved the event to a more befitting date, April Fool’s Day.

And what a distinction Sunday night was for Adam Sandler who swept the Santa Monica, California based event in all 10 catagories!

Sandler’s gawdawful cross-dressing comedy JACK & JILL is the first motion picture in the 32 year history of the Raspberry Awards to sweep EVERY award.

The movie was named worst picture and its entire cast, especially Sandler and Al Pacino, were singled out for their acting in the film. Making matters worse, another of Sandler’s 2011 turkeys called JUST GO WITH IT shares two awards—namely worst actor (Sandler) and worst director Dennis Dugan, who also directed JACK & JILL.

Here then are the official winners—or losers—in the 32nd annual RAZZIE AWARDS:

*WORST PICTURE:  Jack & Jill
*WORST ACTOR: Adam Sandler (Jack & Jill and Just Go With It)
*WORST ACTRESS: Adam Sandler as Jill (Jack & Jill)
*WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Al Pacino as Al Pacino (Jack & Jill)
*WORST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: David Spade as Monica (Jack & Jill)
*WORST SCREEN ENSEMBLE: The entire cast of Jack & Jill
*WORST DIRECTOR: Dennis Dugan (Jack & Jill and Just Go With It)
*WORST PREQUEL, REMAKE, RIP-OFF or SEQUEL: Jack & Jill, a remake/rip-off of Ed Wood’s Glen Or Glenda
*WORST SCREEN COUPLE: Adam Sandler and either Katie Holmes, Al Pacino or Adam Sandler in Jack & Jill
*WORST SCREENPLAY: Jack & Jill

Do you get the feeling they’re trying to tell Sandler something?

Someone better wake him up from his nap atop a pile of money to let him know the bad news.

So I played golf yesterday with one of the bartenders
    from Coaches. Josh.

I gotta give Sandler some props for at least one movie, Happy Gilmore.

My friend Josh, says on #9, “Hey, you guys like Happy Gilmore?”

    I said distractedly, “Sure.”

Josh runs up to the tee (He had already teed up.) and CRUSHES the fucker 275 yards.

    I laughed my ass off.

After the turn, on 10, I says–“Hey, do it again, I am gonna record it.”

I did, he did, and it is cool as shit. Gotta get it on You Tube. Josh is gonna show me how.

So, Jack and Jill is probably the worst movie in history, but Adam Sandler gets a pass for making me LMAO at Happy Gilmore even after all these years.

This is Padrick Harrington in a video using the “Happy Gilmore” swing. His brogue cracks me up, and yes, he gets another 30 yards when he hits it straight.

  3. chuck says:

Sorry, forgot the Paddy Harington link.

  4. chuck says:

    Sorry, one more thing–
At 1:27 in the You Tube Video, Padrick Harrington says, “Its perfectly legal to use the Happy Gilmore swing in golf.”

I don’t know why, but listening to him say it with that accent just kills me.

    Jack, Im not in the biz like you.. so help me out here;
    Do people like Sandler:

    (1) get bad advice from managers and are told “Hey, this is going to be a GREAT movie, go do it!!”?

Or, (2), THEY think it will be funny and make the decision?

or (3), its not a mistake at ALL, they have all the money they want and CHOOSE to do it with no regard to the outcome, because THEY like it and thats all that matters to them?

I scratch my head at some of these guys and think, you didn’t get where you are as a result of no taste and no judgement, so how’s that happen? Help a brother out…..

    This sounds
like a so bad it’s good type rental. I’ll get my popcorn at the ready for this comedy gold.

  7. jack p. says:

    Hey Paul….
…I used to get a kick out of Sandler’s flicks. But they’ve been going downhill fast. If he doesn’t start picking better material and/or get someone else to make production judgements he’ll be going the way of Eddie Murphy.
And we all know how HE’s doing….

  8. harley says:

light up a good doobie and they’re all
    academy award winners!!!!!!!
GHeaded to plaza 810 to wsee ku beat the scumbag calipari

  9. Merle Tagladucci says:

Is Sandler the most over-achieving comedic actor of all time? Is there a comedic actor less talented who’s made more money? Not to say he doesn’t have some talent, he does, but clearly it’s a very shallow pool. I guess when you get your own production company and nobody is in place to tell you your ideas suck, you crank out garbage like Jack and Jill. And Grown Ups. And Don’t Mess With the Zohan. And Just Go With It. And Bedtime Stories. What’s next…Grown Ups 2?

    Yep!

  10. the dude says:

    Woah now,
Do not mess with the zohan was actually entertaining and funny.
Oscar caliber? No, but this is Adam Sandler we are talking about here not Clint Fucking Howard.

  11. PB says:

    Grown Ups 2
Interestingly enough, for a guy that has been cranking out money-making crap for nearly two decades now, you would have thought he would have jumped on the sequel bandwagon a long time ago, but I believe this one will be his first.

The dude has a formula that works. Gets together with same group of actor/director/friends so he can produce his films somewhat on the cheap by Hollywood standards and cashes in by deftly choosing his opening weekends and basically getting his $ back and then some. Add on some more $ thru DVD sales to his fanbase and cha ching! Don’t hate on him, hate on those that enable him.
