Hearne: Plaza & P&L District Late Night Kiddie Gang Bang Update

The aftermath of this morning’s KC Police confirmation several weeks of kid problems on the Plaza

KC Strip trolly point man Bill Nigro said earlier today that he didn’t see or hear anything, but after poking around, he now says that "several hundred kids were gathered in front of the Cinemark movie theaters again Saturday night."

Other sources indicated that pepper spray was used to break up part of the action, but Nigro’s guy "didn’t see the kids running around all over the place like they have in the past," he says.

As for the Power & Light District‘s urban youth gatherings that seem to have provoked a credit card only cover charge to get into the entertainment zone, "It really didn’t seem too bad this past weekend," Nigro says. "Maybe because it was so hot out."

How about the "boycott" over what some call the P&L’s racist cover charge policy since kids don’t have credit cards?

"There is no boycott," Nigro says. "It’s business as usual."

The flip side of the boycott issue: the people most likely to participate are probably in no small number the ones the P&L allegedly is trying to ward off.

No word back yet from the KCPD re Saturday night’s dust up on the Plaza…

  1. Alredy read it on TKC says:

Going reblog TKC for the remainder of your career Hearne?
We already read this from Tony and then from you Hearne. Grow up and get a real fucking job or fact that a fat mexican has a better blog than this piece of junk. If your advertisers weren’t your drinking buddies they would save some money and dump you.

    TKC is politically based repitition
and race baiting (Which I am totally ok with. Catharsis being one of many roads to your own truth.

kcconfidential is far more eclectic and breaks a number of wide ranging stories from a number of local and national sources that include entertainment, sports and current events, couched in what is usually polite language.

I am sure you have friends too, don’t ya?

  3. Hearne Christopher says:

    I beg to differ.

Tony wrote a vague item this morning about a fight on the Plaza. No confirmation, no details. I give you details, confirmation. Something tangible.

Which is apparently why you chose to read the stories on KCC. You wanted some actual reporting. Bravo!

  4. Hearne Christopher says:

Well, we do try to do some reporting and only use sources that are credible, named or unnamed.

Guess I am guilty of being a bit too polite. But you can deliver some crunching blows, um, politely. Kicking butt doesn’t necessarily equate to sucker punching.

    Hearne
I think this site is one of the more credible ones on the local scene. I feel some others, particularly TKC and Bottom Line, are mostly vehicles through which people with narrow agendas are granted the ability to anonymously communicate their platforms through someone else. As I’ve state previously, I think Joe’s writing here was really good, and Hearne’s got a good sense of humor. His approach is made better by the fact he’s not wielding a flamethrower with each and every post and denigrating all the same people and subjects.

That said, I do enjoy most of the blogs around town. They’re respectable in that they’ve each carved out their own voice and following and give local readers something to check out other than the daily.
