Caitlin: Rumors of Fall 2011 Womenswear Collection from Kanye West

Rumors of a Fall 2011 Collection from Kanye West have been circulating since last spring, and after reading recent interviews with Kanye’s mentor, Louise Wilson, I think it is safe to say that a fashion collection from Yeezy himself is about to drop.

Wilson, Professor at London’s Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design speaks highly of Kanye’s potential in the realm of fashion: “I’ve known him for two years now and he’s incredibly knowledgeable about fashion, he’s a global phenomenon.”

True, Kanye isn’t new to the realm of fashion or art. He has designed shoes for Louis Vuitton, attended fashion shows in Paris, and held internship positions at Fendi and the Gap.

In May, Kanye even launched a collection of 100% silk twill scarves via French art and design team, M/M Paris (Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzala).

The team created hand-drawn, ornamental frames to adorn the five George Condo paintings featured on Kanye’s last album, My Beautiful Dark and Twisted Fantasy, and these same images are depicted on the limited edition scarves.

But aside from all this, a ready-to-wear collection is a different beast entirely.

I can’t help but wonder…what does Kanye West think women should wear?

His collection is expected to be mostly womenswear, a collaboration with established British designer Louise Goldin. Goldin’s last Ready-to-Wear Collection, Fall 2010, featured futuristic, geometric clothing with military-esque plaiting, gold trim, and metallic leggings. Although many of the looks feel too sci-fi, many separates are completely street-worthy and wearable.

Goldin also has made sweaters with bullet holders, cargo leggings, and fabulous knitwear.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if Kanye’s own style influences the collection, if his mix of sophisticated blazers, graphics, bold colors, and street wear will shine through.

Either way, as a Kanye West fan, I can’t wait.

Soon enough he’ll have a high-brow fashion posse. They’ll all be super yeezy and walk around saying, “That’s Dior Homme not Dior homie.”

Here are a couple of quotes from his Kanyeness…
“”I’M LIKE A TREE, I FEED THE BRANCHES OF THE PEOPLE.” I hope the douche bucket wears your tree suit Caitlin, along with those stupic fuckin white “shutter” sun glasses.

“GOD CHOSE ME. HE MADE A PATH FOR ME. I AM GOD’S VESSEL. BUT MY GREATEST PAIN IN LIFE IS THAT I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO SEE MYSELF PERFORM LIVE.” Yeah, its killin me too.

THIS, of course, is my own personal favorite, the all time best, from that fuckin juggernaut IQ… (Drum roll)

“SOMETIMES PEOPLE WRITE NOVELS AND THEY JUST BE SO WORDY AND SO SELF-ABSORBED. I AM NOT A FAN OF BOOKS. I WOULD NEVER WANT A BOOK’S AUTOGRAPH.”

    LMAO…

I like the way his cheeks always look like they are swollen up on both sides, like maybe he is stashing away some nuts for the winter.
You know, like fuckin “Chip and Dale”.

    What a fuckin douche nozzel.

    That’s it, Chuck! He’s Glazer’s squirrel!
Why didn’t we guess this earlier?

    Brilliant job, Chuck.

But you’re a douche, too–you never showed at Late Show, as you promised for Barb McCreery’s opening, tree suit or marigolds, whatever, nuthin. You missed seeing skulls with crystals and prayer beads. The Casey Anthony collection.

    @Chuck
You either have a fan, a groupie or a stalker. Be careful.

Kanye is just a black male version Sarah Palin. He’s the third Hussein brother, Joe Miller in blackface. If someone made a car called the Revolution Kanye couldn’t start it with a key.

Eric Cartman is far more dangerous.
