Former Star sports columnist Jason Whitlock was a force to be reckoned with this week on the panel of HBO’s Real Sports…
In fact, he dominated it.
The irony is, everybody else on the panel besides him had their title under their name on the screen. But Whitlock’s just said "sports journalist" – it didn’t say Fox. It was odd, because everybody else was more specific. I don’t know why it didn’t say Fox.
Unless…
It’s because he’s still looking for a real job and didn’t want to give the appearance to media prospects that he was employed. Because he’s still looking and his blogging deal isn’t a full-time, paying job.
If he was an employee of Fox, Fox would insist they put Fox on the screen – they would demand it. But he’s a freelancer and that’s the first big deal thing he’s been on in a year that I’ve seen."
Uh, sports journalist…wonder what that pays?

Hell no that fat fuck is not an “employee” of Fox. He’d jack up the health care costs for the whole damn company. He’s a “contract employee”. Rupert Murdoch ain’t stupid.

Real reporter? Neither of us were “reporters” although I actually did write a number of news stories – not columns – as a reporter. And I did do a lot of reporting in my column. However Whitlock very rarely did any reporting. Understand the difference? Opinion vs news.

Blogging for Fox was a part time gig when he was doing it while still at the Star.

As he was a contributor to Fox’s blog before he left the Star. You think if he was an employee of Fox Sports they would have just called him a journalist?
