OTC: Rumor Has Tyshawn Guilty Of Doing The Deed Inside AF

“From two Kansas media sources, I was told this morning that (Tyshawn) Taylor and (Marisha) Brown were allegedly discovered playing a little unauthorized 1-on-1 inside Allen Fieldhouse. You can take that any way you’d like.”
Brooks Melchior, on the two recently suspended Kansas men’s and women’s basketball players, SportsByBrooks.com
GH: Brooks is intentionally (and uncharacteristically) vague in reporting the two Jayhawks had consensual sex inside Allen Fieldhouse and have been suspended by their coaches for this seemingly natural act. Brooks catches a lot of heat because he breaks stories on his website that other media outlets won’t touch. He’s not always accurate but he is professional enough that most mainstream sports reporters check and quote from his site regularly. I just can’t imagine this is the reason Self suspended his starting point guard.”
“If this is true, Tyshawn shouldn’t be suspended. They should hang his jersey if the rafters!”
Shan Shariff, 610 AM
GH: Maybe Tyshawn and Marisha did do the deed inside the hallowed halls of Allen Fieldhouse, but there has to be more to this story. Were they atop Self’s desk and taking turns wearing Bill’s game-day toupee?
“That’s not what happened! That reporter got it wrong.”
Bill Self, when a KU fan commented during Self’s weekly radio show that they were unhappy that Tyshawn told ESPN’s Holly Rowe that his suspension was “no big deal.”
GH: Self was as upset discussing Holly Rowe’s Big Monday comments about Tyshawn as I can remember him being on his show. He was adamant that Rowe misrepresented her conversation with Tyshawn. Here is what Rowe said, according to SportsByBrooks.com…
ESPN’s Holly Rowe :
“I said, ‘Tyshawn what did you do?’
“He said, ‘I was a bad kid.’
“I said, ‘how long will the suspension be?’
“He said, ‘It’s not anything major.”
GH: I don’t see a lot of guilt there on Rowe’s part. Tyshawn obviously doesn’t think his infraction – whatever it is – is a major deal. Self’s biggest complaint was that by suspending Tyshawn – and in his words “doing the right thing” – he publicizes the incident and makes his program look bad in the process. Self was particularly unhappy that ESPN chose to scroll Tyshawn’s suspension at the bottom of the screen over and over and over. It’s called being a big-time $3-million-a-year college basketball coach, Bill. You get to handle the good with the bad. Those 16,300 showing up for an exhibition game against Emporia State come with some demands. One of them is a thirst for information. BTW, where is the most famous place you’ve gone “one-on-one?” Add it to the Comments section below.
“When Title IX advocates first proposed the concept of gender equity in intercollegiate athletics, somehow I think this isn’t what they had in mind.”
Brooks Melchior, SportsByBrooks.com
GH: Brooks is a Kansas City kid who graduated from Barstow High and dabbled in sports talk radio here in 1999 when he headed up Entercom’s first all-sports radio station, 1250 The Game. Brooks and his sidekick, Nate Bukaty, lasted a little over a year before they too succumbed to WHB’s dominance. Other talents on 1250 at the time were The Star’s Joe Posnanski (who voluntarily quit after a couple of months) and John Renshaw’s syndicated show.
“To me, the way (Frank Martin) acts on the sideline is more damaging than smoking. I think he is hurting himself drastically – and that worries me. It’s common sense! It’s obvious! Sometimes you’ve got to adjust who you are for your own good.”
Nick Wright, 610 AM
GH: Wright was stunned that his above comments were met with opposition from some of his callers. To be perfectly honest I am shocked that anyone could disagree,” said Wright. Read on.

“You have to take into account where Frank Martin is from – Cuba. Latins are just hot blooded. They just are.”
Caller, trying to convince Nick Wright that Martin’s temper is not a health issue because he’s Latin, 610 AM
GH: Another caller chastised Wright for attempting to play the role of a doctor. I have to agree with Wright on this one, Frank looks ready to blow a valve during some of his sideline rants. And he appears absolutely resolute in not adjusting his sideline temper tantrums.

“Thank god Fescoe finally fired back! Up until now it’s been like kicking a dead stupid dog. Now it’s just like kicking a stupid dog. … I hope he fired back strong! I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting!”
Nick Wright, after hearing Fescoe had said on his show that Wright should get some original thoughts, 610 AM
GH: Wright’s producer, Mark Carman, stopped Nick from his verbal assault of Fescoe by reminding him the two were “teammates” on 610 Sports. Nick them changed his comment to kicking a dead stupid Jayhawk instead of a dead stupid dog. You have to hand it to 610 Sports for allowing their on-air hosts to be as frank about each other as they are the teams they cover.

“I’m somebody who hasn’t watched a primetime TV show in probably 25 years. Maybe not that long but pretty close. The last show I remember watching on a regular basis was Night Court. Now think how long ago that was! I sit down and watch a lot of old movies with my wife. We watch Turner Classics a lot.”
Danny Clinkscale, 810 AM
GH: I am continually amazed at the private lives of some of the people who bring us our sports. Clink, Bukaty and Ryan Lefebvre might live the most clandestine lives outside Bubble Boy that I know of.

“I’ll watch European golf on Sunday mornings.”
Kevin Kietzman, 810 AM
GH: Add Kietz to that list.
“I don’t set the DVR. I don’t want to learn how to set the DVR. Prime Time on Demand on Time Warner is very cool. I’m afraid if I start DVR-ing shows I’ll become a slave to my TV.”
Kevin Kietzman, 810 AM
GH: Programming the DVR is what allows you to NOT be a slave to your TV! Old white guys who continue to act like technology is scary give us older white guys a bad name.

    Phyuck Lew
Lew Perkins fucked quite a few people inside Allen Fieldhouse. What’s the big deal

    Another Hall column….
and not a peep about Missouri destroying Baylor. Is there anyone in the Big 12 that does less with more than Scott Drew? That dude is the basketball version of Ron Zook.

I’m With You Ty. Hey At Least It Was a Good Crime!
Come on now Bill, boys will be boys. I like the guts on this kid. Let him play. Hey heres a brother whose only crime is sex in his own gym! I’ll take it…I am a fan of Taylors from now on.

  4. MonkeyHawk says:

I hope the crime is boinking.
I’d like to see the team rule book and read you can’t boink in the field house after hours.

This looks to me like a long-time give-and-take between Self and Tyshawn. There’s an undercurrent of mutual respect but it’s bent by the whole rebellious youth v. authority figure.

  5. Glow1 says:

    Well…
if true, that’s got to be Tyshawn’s best dribble drive penetration and scoring of the year. Thanks folks, I’ll be here all weekend.

Seriously though, sometimes addition by subtraction is the way to go.

  6. theKCeye says:

    I remember this one time..
I went one-on-one late at night in a public park with a half-celebrity (then… major-celeb now) who was an ex at the time while high as a friggin’ kite on cocaine.

You know… nevermind. That was Craig Glazer. Think about it.

    He Dribbles…He stops he pops……YES…..
No way is Taylor wearing street clothes for shtooping in The Phog.

  8. Mike says:

    Tyshawn…..
…now has the hook-up story to beat. I don’t know how many hook-ups have happened in that barn, he’s got ‘The Man’ bar story for every one else now.

Besides, it’s not like he’s the first point guard to hook up with a women’s basketball player. I remember a famous pairing from the 90’s that spread through campus like wildfire.

Oh, and Greg, someone needs to ask Kietz if he owns a smartphone. The way he’s acting all afraid of the DVR, I wonder if he still uses a Motorola StarTac phone, or if he’s upgraded to the Razr.

And I hope Frank does find some way to cool down during a game. His theatrics when he got the technical foul was pretty bad. And I think he can control it too….to me, Frank is a guy that I believe can rise above those angry-man antics. At least he should try, so he doesn’t get compared to a courtside mad man. Like Tim Floyd…that guy just went Nick Nolte “Blue Chips” all over a guy, minus the ball-kick into the stands.

  14. Pat Schultz says:

    My friend did it
Back in ’98, a friend of mine did his girl in Allen Fieldhouse. Of course they also hit the library (almost a prerequisite for being a KU student), Budig Hall and a number of buildings on campus.
